Well White said there will be an immediate rematch and both fighters have already agreed. Please give me the same line so I put even more on Shogun. Dana said he thought Shogun won and didn't understand what the judges were seeing.

Can't wait to see Dana's blog. I know I maybe biased but I think Shogun deserves an immediate rematch. The problem is, I don't know what he can do differently. Does he have to go balls to the wall attacking Machida, which plays into Machida's strength?

There were a lot of questions about Shogun going into this fight and I think he answered them. He did deserve to be there and made a good showing for himself and like I said before, his cardio is no worry. The Forrest and Coleman fights weren't the norm.

Atleast with Shogun, you know you'll have a champion who's not afraid to be the aggressor and will ATTACK.

Lets see, it's coming to November. Think they could put them on the Feb card in Australia with Wandy?? :)

WELCOME TO THE SHOGUN ERA

I am on board with the Shogun era and so is Dana.

Machida is walking around with Shogun's belt.

I hope the rematch is not the main event again. Sales will be slow if it tries to stand alone again.

I don't think they have ever put a title fight over sees and doubt they ever will. The Europe cards are usually garbage as far as scheduled fights.

Ok, I'm sitting here going over round by round rewatching the fight. I'm watching with a friend who trains in MMA and is a big Machida fan. I originally gave round 1 to Machida because I thought he landed some good punches as well as a good knee to the body but after we just watched it, paused it and replayed it we both gave the round to Shogun. 2 of the Machida's punches that looked good last night didn't even connect. Shogun simply lost his balance after kicking Machida's mid section and one was a kick followed by a throat punch. Even when I watch it now it looks like Machida is hitting him because of how Shogun's body is reacting but you can cleary see on slow mo that it doesn't even touch him.

The judges don't have the benefit of TIVO pause, rewind, and slo-mo. I imagine, sitting live, this was a very tough fight to judge. They were countering one another at the same speed most of the night. Close fight. Bad decision. Not a robbery. Shogun deserved to win. 3 rounds to 2.

Ghost, I meant to say that about the judges not having that benefit.

Saying that, after doing what we just did I can where the judges thought Machida may have won 3-2. A lot of what appeared to be good shots by Machida weren't. I thought he had landed some shots that he really didn't.

Round 2 was very close, Machida was winning the first two to three minutes but Shogun caught up. The last 30 seconds were spent in the clinch with Shogun landing about 5 knees to the leg of Machida. If you count those then Shogun won the round. If not then Machida won it.

Round 3 was very close as well. The last exchange when Machida was the agressor might have won it for Machida. He didn't land a lot of his strikes(most missed) but he did land a few but the biggest strike was by Shogun. All in all I would give it to Machida because he was the one attacking and it looked like he won it.

Round 4 wasn't close, Machida appeared to be gassed and half way confused on what to do.

Round 5 was closer than I orginally thought and was close to being even but I think the difference was Shogun's kick were bigger, the ones Machida landed might have counted for points but had nothing on them.

Me and my friend Scott both gave the fight to Shogun(he did not like admitting it but with the slow mo and rewind it was hard for him not to).

Any guesses on what the line opens at for the re match. I'll be all over Shogun again!

I thought Machida won Round 3 and Shogun definitely won Rounds 4 and 5. 1 and 2 were the tough ones for me.

I am VERY CURIOUS what the rematch line will be set at - but I am not confident betting either side strongly.

I hope one of these days u guys will understand that when you have a huge amount of money on a heavy dog like that, then no way no how if it goes to a decision, the favorite is gonna lose.
It is just how it goes in the corrupt world of gambling and watching some of these decisions lately the judges have finally been taken over by the gambling crooks in this country. Ihaven't notice this until recently. The latest Stan decision might have been the start of it or a little earlier. If everyone wants to jump on a huge dog like that then they better hope he knocks the favorite out. Now for my take.
Im a firm believer that if u want to take the title then u have to take it. So in the MMA world if Griffen beat Rampage and took the title then this is a no brainer and Shogun deserves the title. Shogun beat Machida a lot more then Forrest beat Rampage. Unfortunately for Shogun he had all the money on him unlike Forrest. Just my opinion boys. Other notes. That card was a :bed: Neer is a joke. Learned nothing in his bout with Pelligreno(sp?). Spencer fisher fight was as boring as I thought it would be and no way should he be on a pay per view card. He hits about as hard as Paulie M. I didn't have the greatest of feeds but Machida looked about as spent as can be. I hate to be him this morning because he was having a lot of trouble moving in those last two rounds. Anyone notice Rogan trying to get Neer a victory? How close are those two? Rogan was once a great announcer but he is turning into a WWE announcer. In my book close rounds should go to the Champ so i can see it going to Machida but if none of these guys had the title then no way i give it to Machida. Opps forgot. Had no money on the fight.

i wouldn`t pooh-pooh what spongy`s saying here.....seemed from my perusal of forums, there was an awful lot of folks willing to take a shot with shogun at better than 3-1.....

i don`t care what anyone says,i think a shogun win puts a bit of a dent in some deep pockets...

and rogan?...if it wasn`t bad enough rthat he reported the machida/rua fight in about as biased a fashion as i`ve ever witnessed,he WAS trying to make a case for neer in a fight that WAS NOT....i repeat...WAs NOT close....neer stalked but was totally ineffective...he was on his back more than a 5 dollar hooker...

what`s with rogan?........gambling?...i don`t know...but he had a really bad night doing commentary...he sounded sick...so,give him the benefit of the doubt......

Just saw the fight, and it was close, but Machida didn't do enough to retain his title.

I was surprised by Shogun's patience and solid defense, but thought he should have gone for broke in the last rd when Machida was slowing down due to leg kicks and put it beyond doubts.

He didn't.

I've heard Bet365 had Machida at +1100 in the last rd, that was a steal, but i couldn't stay awake.

Next time Machida fights a guy with a good chin, just bet the over.
The guy is boring as hell.

Weepaul, sorry for your misfortune. Botha, Machida and Froch... very bad luck. The Dirrell loss was a wake-up call to me to completely eliminate all sense of emotion and belief in justice when it comes to gambling. Be as robotic as possible. When your fighter should win on points and you have a scalp available during live betting, take it everytime.
I agree with everything you are saying mate :toast: and believe me, I take it all with a grain of salt or I couldn't sleep at night.

The thing that bothers me most is, I am an unlucky cat and I'm always on the bad end of the shit stick when it comes to bad decisions  :mj07:

The thing is, I am a millionare in life.
I have the greatest wife, kids and family anyone could ask for.
What could be better than that!!!

That Neer garbage was the joke of the night. Those were not even take downs. They were vicious takedowns. I enjoyed each and every one of them. Can't stand that cocky fuker.

Amen to that :toast: I met the greatest woman in the world this year, and have drastically cut down my impulsive gambling and drinking. It sounds cheesy, but true love is the greatest motivator I've known. She literally squeezed the frustration out of me last weekend :)

I remember we both lost the Griffin +550 or so against Lacy recently. You're great at picking big underdogs, unfortunately they're often simply not allowed to win. And you and Graham are deadly on UK-based fights, it's always great to hear your take.

UFC 104 Gate and Fighter Salaries
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/10/27/1103680/ufc-104-gate-and-fighter-salaries

"Anthony Johnson $30,000 (includes $15,000 win bonus)* def. Yoshiyuki Yoshida $12,000
*Johnson forfeited 20-percent of his $15,000 show money to Yoshida for missing weight"

So Johnson gave up ONLY 3 grand for those 6 pounds!
Jesus, he dwarfed Yoshida in the ring-got a huge advantage for-and a slap on the wrist. Ridiculous.

He gave up more than that as Dana was gonna give him the 60 grand for KO of the night but gave it to Pat Berry instead because Johnson missed weight. :sadwave:
