Thoughts

Here are my thoughts on a couple of the fights, they reiterate some of the opinions previously mentioned.

Chuck vs Franklin - Chuck is old and not what he used to be but....this is a bad matchup for Franklin. Chuck has great take down defense and is a superior striker. I think Chuck will keep his distance and answer any leg kicks with a straight right. He is only +110 at my book so no harm in waiting until fight night and hoping more people jump on the Franklin wagon. Also, I think the layoff will help him. He cleared his mind and let his body/mind heal. I have not seen a recent picture of him but if he is that in shape, maybe he learned some new work ethics from his dancing. It may sound stupid but it is hard to deny that dancing is a good workout, maybe his footwork got better, ha. Anyway, I would take Chuck in this one but could be very close.

Barry vs Cro Cop - Barry will murder CC! I am sorry but CC is done. He used to be one of my favorite fighters but he is just not the same anymore. In each of his last couple fights he has had some questionable moments to say the least (eye poke, groin shot.) He basically needs to cheat to win. His world famous head kick is not there and he rarely throws punches because he is affraid to open himself up. Pat Barry is one of the elite kick boxers in the UFC, he will chop down CC and finish him in the first, this isnt going to be close. It sucks my odds are -140 for Barry but I think that is as good as I will get. I actually wish Barry would cut down to 205 as he will not be able to compete with the 250+ lb HW guys. He is a small HW and could do it but chooses not to.

Good luck with your bets gents. Chuck will be a smaller play (half or one unit) and Barry will be 2 or 3 units.

Coach, I totally agree with you on Barry. I'm actually really suprised that the odds are so low. I thought they would be in the 200s and in all honesty they should be. My BIG worry is that Crocop will come into one of these fights off a nice 6 or 7 month cycle of the good stuff and be a beast. I know it's not likely but it is a concern of mine.

I have never had two very big bets in one UFC event but if Crocop doesn't physically look much different at weigh ins then I'll probably hammer Barry. There's just no reason outside of a lucky LHK that Crocop will win.

I don't think Chuck and Rich will be close. I can't see anyway Rich wins this fight. He can't take Chuck down but I guarantee Chuck can and probably will for point purposes take him down. He doesn't have better striking and I can't see him wanting to test the size difference in the clinch. Plus I don't think he'll want to get close enough for Chuck to land a bomb on him while he's back away. I could go down in flames but I feel very good about this play and the fact that I'm a dog right now is an absolute bonus because I would be taking Chuck even if he was -150.

MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

?Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin probably a boring 3 round decision win for one of these guys. will be a snoozer.
?Patrick Barry vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic I'm not sold on Barry. I like Cro Cop a lot in this fight.
?Martin Kampmann vs. Paulo Thiago mentioned above; Kampmann is one of my favorites too. 2nd round submission victory for him here.
?Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel
?Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald Condit destroys MacDonald here.

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

?Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman
?Evan Dunham vs. Tyson Griffin Tyson with another decision win.

PRELIMINARY CARD (Not televised)

?David Loiseau vs. Mario Miranda I think I'd take anybody over the Crow, lol!!
?Peter Sobotta vs. James Wilks
?Ricardo Funch vs. Claude Patrick
?Jesse Lennox vs. Mike Pyle

looks like a great card!

I think 6/5 is wrong on every fight:mj07:

What you smoking if you think Mirko has anything left...the guy is done. But maybe you know something I do not:shrug:

As for Condit, big time over-rated......big time.

Oh and Thiago will fuck up Kampmann.

Love a lot of these fights, some easy winners, I will be parlaying Barry like crazy. Mirko is done done done.

I've been wrong before! :mj07: I know LIddell has lost a lot, but to me, Franklin just looks like a old, tired, washed up fighter. Anderson Silva beat the life out of him (twice).

SixFive lost me when he said this:

Liking Mirko in any fight is risky these days much less liking him alot.
He is a shell of his old self and he doesn't throw or even kick anywhere near the amount it takes to win rounds.
He must get a KO and has not shown he can do that in a long time.
And don't bring up Perosh because that was pathetic and Al-Turk was a finger.
He is just too old and Barry will finish him for good.

Anyone think Kampmann at +325 might be worth a tickle?

Absolutely! This fight is not listed at my book but this could be very close. My opinion: When Thiago KO'd Kos, I thought it was a complete fluke and he was pulling guard like (piece of shit) Leites, so I was not impressed at all, but after watching him evolve each fight, he is getting better and has potential. Kampmann on the other hand I believe has reached his potential and will always be a stepping stone in the division. However...both have KO power and if you seriously can get +325, then you have to jump, now and high! Best fight odds has him +130, so please let us all come play in your backyard.

Might be worth a tickle???

The real line is +165.

Tickle the hell out of +325. :scared

totally agree....i grabbed some kampmann(in what i believe is pretty close to pick`em) at +165...

and dunham at +205?....he might get pummeled but the kid is nobody`s soft touch....he can fight...and he has a big height and reach advantage...

apparently the word`s out on roryy macdonald....he`s actually favored over condit....and i`m not totally shocked...the guys condit tore through in the wec were peripheral guys...not top notch....

curious to see where condit/macdonald odds go from here...

Still trying to figure out why people think this is such a great card. I couldn't give two shits about the first two fights which are supposed to be main event fights. The next three i like but they don't blow me away. the two tv fights the one with Danzing will be a bore fest and if he loses he most likely will quit since this is the feel i get after all Danzing fights.

I agree this card is seriously lacking top to bottom but I am curious about a few.

And the top 2 fights are about the quality of the two being shown on Spike for free.

you`re waiting for the christian wellisch/carwin rematch?......

what exactly is it about competitive toss-up fights involving contenders(and a couple young phenoms) and a golden oldie(that`s actually much more interesting than tito/chuck III) thrown in that you don`t like,spongy?....i think this card is loaded with competitive fights...

for me,this looks pretty damned good...116 looks pretty pedestrian...truthfully,lesnar/carwin leaves me cold....it`s a glorified tough-man contest....

these guys are mixed martial artists?..lol
