Can't believe Weepaul didn't ride with me with Story. Have to agree with Glen on some of the things Silva was doing. Almost like he was told to play with Sonnen. Letting him punch him in the face in the first round with his hands down was as bizare as it gets. Almost like he was throwing the fight  then sitting there laying on the ground not attemptin anything until the very end was nuts. It is what it is. Sonnen showed everyone just how strong he is. I would hate to have to get that sucker off of my back. Missed the Hughes fight. I know i think Hughes is on his way out and lacks heart but that still wasn't a reason to take Almedia. Couldn't believe the love he was getting on this site. Passed on that fight. Kick u would be proud of me cause i did take Dos Santos for a few bucks. Nelson did what i thought he would. Fight tough and just come up a little short. Dos Santos finally fought someone a little tough. U and Bucks had Nelson out in the first round :142smilie
It was a very odd fight, to say the least. I've been trying to think just what the fug Silva was doing in that fight, and I think it's one of these things:
1) He's used to dominating his fights and winning easily, so when things weren't going his way he basically turned into a little kid who wasn't getting his way and started pouting. As I said last night, it looked like he didn't even want to be out there most of that fight.
2) He didn't want to give Sonnen the satisfaction of letting him know he's a legit contender. After all the trash talk by Sonnen, I think Anderson wanted to go into that fight with a "Who the fug are you to make me worry?" attitude. We saw it in the weigh-in where he wouldn't look at Sonnen and acted like he was irrelevant. Then in the first round when he let Sonnen punch him in the face repeatedly without trying to block, almost as if saying "You're weak, you can't hurt me even if I give you free shots." Then the rest of the fight when he let Sonnen tee off on him while he was on his back. He clearly didn't want to show Sonnen any respect since Sonnen had disrespected him leading up to the fight.
3) Maybe Silva just has horrible focus? I dunno, but there were a couple of times in that fight where Silva looked like Silva, taking the fight to Sonnen and getting him in trouble. Unfortunately for him, that usually lasted about 20 or 30 seconds, then he went back to being Sonnen's punching bag.
I've seen Silva fight lackadaisical before, but never anything like last night. I could never put money on him after seeing that fight. I severely doubt the guy's heart now.
I don't take anything away from Sonnen -- he fought his ass off and clearly wanted that fight more than Silva did. But considering he's on the most intelligent fighters in MMA, it was inexcusable for him to get submitted at the end like that. Especially against a guy who really didn't seem to care whether he won or lost.
