I think Nate was to big for Akiyama anyway

Already on Rua

Tempted on Shalorus though it may be small. Miller is a beast though. Miller has better striking and far better subs but the wildcard here is wrestling. Does Shalorus try to ground Miller or stand and bang.

I like Pyle as well. If he can keep this standing he has a chance

i was thinking about the trouble that bocek`s wrestling gave miller...i thought bocek won.....

but, will shalorous finally utilize his wrestling?...where has it been?

Ugh, I've been nervous since I laid down on the Shogun fight. I have a LOT riding on this thing and all I can think about is whether or not Shogun's knee is good. I really hope Shogun has been listening to motivational speeches by Charlie Sheen so all he thinks about is winning. :00hour

shogun is going to want to stand with him right?

jones 84.5 inch reach vs shoguns 76 inch is going to be tough to overcome.

Just way too much athleticism on jones's side IMO.
And him training with hands down the best camp around right now, they will have the correct game plan.

I should point out we haven't seen jones get hit hard and have to recover so thats an unknown and if rua can catch him well it could be over quick

I don't see this fight going to long.

Good point bert07 about Jones never really getting hit. We do not really know how he takes a punch or kick.

Although I am pretty sure Jones won't run like a little bitch like Brock when he gets hit:mj07:

Jon Jones fighting stance and style are the reason why Shogun will win this fight. His stance is WIDE open. He's tall, so that means a bigger target for Shogun to shoot at and takedown. I honestly see Shogun winning this fight via submission. Leg lock.

I'm not really too afraid of Jones hands because he hasn't even shown that they're something to be scared of. He also hasn't fought anyone who can take a punch, anyone who is a striker, or anyone who is comfortable on their back. You better believe that if he throws those wild punches and kicks that Shogun will take advantage of everyone and make him pay.

Also, lets not forget the fighter Shogun is. He's not a counter puncher. He can take a punch. You better believe he will be the aggressor in this fight. Something Jones also hasn't had to face.

Regarding Jones and Rua, I was kind of shocked to see the betting line be what it is, most of dabble around in other sports, so when a line looks off you kind of know what to do. My point, Rua is the champion and has fought a whos who of fights. Is the line this high for Jones mystique or the question marks coming off of Ruas injury perhaps and what kind of shape he will be in? Thought Rua would be a slight favorite or a pickem fight, not a 2-1 underdog. Confused I am....

Rua has losses to Coleman and Forrest.

Jones has never lost (DQ in a fight he was dominating).

The line is set appropriately.

Lines are set to draw action on each side.

At even money, players would have piled on Bones.

At -200, you still get the Jones supporters, and Rua supporters jump on the plus number.

Correct line in a very high profile bout, IMO.

We disagree, I dont feel the line is accurate at all, I think more money will be coming in on Rua just because he is the champ getting plus money or worth a shot to the casual MMA bettor. You referenced his losses, his wins also include Rampage AO Chuck Nogueria and arguablly Machida twice, in the latter many didnt think he could be beat due to his elusive style. Jons hasnt fought anybody close to this, with Bader being his best win perhaps Vera but he is shell of himself these days. I hope Ruas knee is in shape...and having been in the betting game for nearly 20 years I understand the equal action point, but the line this high screams Jones is going to win. Just my take.

I guess I wasn't clear.

I'm not saying Jones is going to dominate the fight. It's a very tough fight. I don't know who wins.

I'm saying the OPENING LINE was accurate. At -200, the early money was on Jones.

You said "I think more money will be coming in on Rua just because he is the champ getting plus money or worth a shot to the casual MMA bettor." This is correct and that's what the books want. Two way action.

I agree that late money this week will be on Rua. Jones guys have already bet, or will wait till the very last minute.

The knee is a very good point. Last time Rua came back from this long a layoff, Griffin pissed on him.

Rua is a far superior fighter than Forrest and SHOULD have killed him. Lots of questions regarding Shogun and this knee.

Interesting to see how Jones will respond to such a short turnaround. Dude fought 6 weeks ago.

What a fucking great fight. I'm amped.

Understood, I guess what I was trying to get across was the line may be indictive of Ruas knee and the kind of shape he shown against someone like Forrest. In regards to line movement and action, not sure I always trust Vegas, the casual bettor in MMA like myself sees plus odds for the champ who has been in wars and fought a whos who against the future but hasnt really been tested, look tempting to take a FLYER on Rua.

My point even further, I rent every UFC, have a house full of buddies that come over, and already got two calls today wondering if I could get them a bet on Rua and these guys never bet on anything. I myself as a football/basketball guy, dabble every once in awhile with MMA bets, so you guys would know more than me about this in terms of boxing and MMA bets/lines. Just was giving my opinion.

I too am amped for this fight, I just hope Rua is fully healthy and in shape. On the flip side, this is a major step up in competition for Jones and is he ready? Cant wait to see this after a full day of hoops Saturday. Good luck with what you decide or maybe bet on.

Best of luck to you as well jr11.
:toast: :toast: :toast:

This whole card is going to be SICK. The undercard (free on SPIKE TV) features an unbelievable fight between Barboza and Njokuani. Two VIOLENT stand up guys with explosive kicks.

Going to be an amazing Saturday night of fights.

Thank you, I just went back and watched the last Machida fight via bloodyelbow which just put it up, Rua is definitely going to be taken down no doubt about it and can he withstand this physical specimen and beast from the bottom. Rua is great at leg kicks, however scary to do that against a very strong wrestler. Rua, I think his best chance is to sub Jones via a leg lock. This has the makings to a great technical fight, to which I am curious what kind of game plan Rua will have.

Actually the last time Shogun had knee surgery he came back and kicked Machida's ass. That was his second surgery, first was Forrest.
