Chuck Liddell (+116) over Wanderlei Silva-medium

My confidence on this one is wavering, but I think Chuck's reach advantage and counterpunching will get him the win.

Rich Clementi (+191) over Melvin Guillard-small

He's durable and a better grappler. Moreover, Melvin makes many mistakes.

Roan Carneiro (-130) over Tony DeSouza-medium

Better wrestler and grappler. Neither have good standup.

Georges St-Pierre (-230) over Matt Hughes-large

He's just better.

Some good picks on this thread. I did pretty good with my 4-0.

also.......a big thanks to the board.....I would have never put Clementi in my parlays if it were not for the info on here.....good job madjackers, looks like most of us did well:SIB

Muhr...........well done...solid picking:SIB

thoughts on some of the fights:

ok GSP destroyed Hughes, enough said.....anybody who doesn't think GSP is the best MMA fighter on the planet should be shot. Ok fine fine Anderson Silva is pretty dam good as well.

Chuck/Wanderlei...........good fight to watch, have to give credit to Wanderlei, yes he was dominated, but he put up a good fight. Yet another Pride boy goes down (but at least he put a good effort in).

Machida/Sokoudjou...........yet another over-rated Pride guy goes down, yes he's young and overhyped, but I mean that was pathetic, Machida dominated him. I think it is now officially safe to say Pride was a tad over-rated. yes I know the rules are a bit different...but not THAT different:scared With that being said, maybe Soko will learn from that pathetic performance.

Clementi.........best after fight interview I have seen....that was classic stuff, nice....very nice:142smilie

Wish i knew more about Clementi cause Gullard is a stiff. Hell he almost got beat by that stiff in the UFC house who couldn't make weight and was the embarrassment of the show. Nice job Kick. After henderson knocks out Silva do you think GSP will want to move up in weight and get knocked out to?

"the bunker"
first off,,,,anybody get the skinny on the whole ifl card?....

more importantly, nothing tickles me more than seeing just about the whole crew clean the book`s clock....

special hosannas go out to kickserv,(the new prime minister of canada),weepaul and muhr.....

i can`t ever remember sweeping the board like this....chuck,gsp and machida hit.....and the dogs some other guys touted hit.........

that`s some new year`s present....

gsp just looks like the prototype for the modern mma assassin...the guy has everything...quicks,power,striking,kicking,grappling....

that`s 2 all american wrestlers in a row that he embarrassed on the ground(the q-tip headed guy and hughes)....

and chuck looked sharp as hell....i think that wanderlei has seen a few to many wars, even though his chin is still much better than i thought it was.....

was glad to see big mouth guilliard get punked....

well said GW...........and thanks for the kudos.....as for GSP and moving up weight.....I think he needs to avenge Serra loss first. Although I have said this for a while now. I'd love to see GSP versus Anderson Silva...that would be unreal fight to watch :scared

oh and I'd love to see GSP on the Canadian Olympic wrestling team...I mean the dude might get a medal in China :mj07:

I like the clementi bet. He was only knocked out once and that was on cuts and even if half of these stories a true he should have a fair chance of submitting Melvin. Same as boxing : guys with impressive muscular build get an odds advantage.
I probably would tend to Clementi at even money.
What about the under in the Machida fight plus 155 under 2 30 round two. I like it. A little bit of s hedge since i like Machida straight and i believe the longer the fight goes the better for Machida.
But all in all i dont get the odds on Clementi. Thats the one bet that stands. Lots of ways to win for the supposed underdog and a punchers chance for the so called favorite.
That all is coming from a boxing guy so take it with caution.

Not bad stuff coming from a "boxing guy" :mj07:

Kick,

dont lose faith, mark my words: UFC IS COMING IN MONTREAL IN 2008!!!

This is the best scenario for them: GSP saved their card by giving another ass whoopping to Hughes and now... the poor Serra who's gonna get killed...:mj07: :142smilie Sure they want us to see this sacrifice on our soil!!! :SIB :0corn :mj07: Mark my words, this fight will be in Montreal this spring or early this summer. I'm so sure of that i'll be taking a UFC fight club card just to get those pre-sales tickets...

HELL
Great night guys, I just bet Chuck myself. My take is that Silva's chin must be made of granite, and I didn't think he would try to fight that type of a fight. GSP, jesus, he is just a pleasure to watch fight...I can't see anyone beating him again. Hughes is done, nice career. Congrats!

Wow, congrats on the bets guys.

I said this before but I wasn't certain but I really think that you're seeing the results of Pride guys not getting to juice anymore. I could be totally off but it would explain a lot.

The other BIG thing I believe you're seeing is the fact that in Pride they wanted guys that put on good shows and the wins didn't matter as much. In the UFC it's all about winning and if you don't win they eventually don't bring you back. That makes for fighters being more cautious I believe, which works against people like Wandy, Crocop and Shogun.

Thanks, good job with those parlays.

Easy to say after the fact, but I wish I put more on Clementi. Everything I saw about Melvin said he had a crappy ground game. Sponge already mentioned his fight with that chubby unathletic TUF guy. Melvin could have lost that fight by RNC.
