I just dont understand this kind of stuff..... I mean 4 lbs is not even close.. NOT EVEN CLOSE.. I swear some of these guys dont step on a scale until the day b4 weigh-ins..

Glad Hughes seemed to be understanding.. not like the weight is a big thing w/ these guys, but still... TOTALLY unprofessional to miss weight IMO.

Go Alves.. :mj07:

After all the bad luck that has happened on this card, this happens. UFC does a great job putting on a good card, and Alves comes in at 174:nono:

No excuse, none, zip zero, anyone who makes an excuse for Alves is a moron. Alves is a disgrace, I hate Hughes (he is 2nd biggest a**hole in mma) but I will be cheering for Hughes now. How anyone will be cheering for Alves is beyond me. This is the UFC, this is the top dog, you get a chance to fight Hughes on the main event and you weigh 174:scared

What a scum bag, no respect for Alves, none. Make the weight you dumb fu**

What is it with these MMA fighters and not making weight? This never seems to happen at high profile wrestling events, can you imagine some dude not making weight at the Olympics, not likely.

I hope Hughes destroys this guy, Hughes is an a**hole but at least he knows how to make weight.

And I don't want to hear how difficult it was for Alves to make weight, no excuse....NONE:nono:

Kill em Hughes.....drive this dick-head out of the UFC, I hope I never see Alves in the UFC again.

174.......pathetic:nono:

Believe me.. not happy w/ Alves :nono:

Wish i could get my money back when guys dont make weight.. not the case, though.

I was.....but that's Elite XC, and ummmm she's hot...and everybody knows that hot chicks have a different standard:142smilie

And you should call Alves and have him send ya the money you bet on him. And another thing, UFC should enact a clause in the contract that states that if you don't make weight, ya don't fight and ya don't get paid. I think it is crap that Alves is even fighting. I know ya want a fight "for the fans" but come on.....pathetic. He shouldn't even get the satisfaction of stepping in the Octagon. I can't believe that I'll actually be cheering for that prick Hughes:scared

I hope Hughes destroys him.

174....nice job buddy:142smilie

Kick, honestly I could get a chit either way but you said at least Hughes knows how to make weight. You know when you Hughes fought Newton, I believe it was in Europe somewhere, he came in over weight but they gave him extra time to lose it. They didn't give Alves any extra time, which isn't normal. It happens to the best of them.

That does make it easier b/c I could care less about Hughes' feelings.. If u didnt see the UFC 85 Countdown last night..... the first time Alves met Hughes, Hughes was doing a seminar and Alves showed up late or something.... As he walked in, the first words Hughes ever said to him "Pitbull, glad u showed up, I was just about to show how to defend a triangle choke." (right after Alves' loss to Spencer Fisher via triangle)

Made me hate Hughes even more at the time.. now its sort of funny :142smilie

Also on the "Countdown" show they mostly showed Alves partying it up down in South Beach.... :nono: Im all for athletes having some fun, but I think u should stay away from the club scene b4 the biggest fight of ur life.. especially when u have to cut over 20 lbs like Alves' does..

And im w/ ya.... there should be a new policy for missing weight, or else it will continue to happen.. I think if u miss by more than a couple lbs, the fight should be off (that'll get their asses in gear to cut weight).. And if u miss at all u should have AT LEAST 30% of ur earnings go to ur opponent.....

....none of that 12% sh*t like Gina Carano had to cough up...

The reason why Alves didn't take "extra time" is because his camp said no (he was 174 for fu**s sake). And Hughes has always made weight, guys know they have the extra hour or so, and 99% of the time they make it. Bottom line is you make the weight, if you don't you shouldn't be allowed to fight. And it doesn't happen "to the best of em", the "best" will never allow it to happen because they are pros. Alves should be on a plane home, and should never be allowed to fight in UFC again. Also, in wrestling (NCAA, Olympics) if you don't make weight ya don't fight. Wish UFC had same policy. Alves is a disgrace, simple as that.

I agree with you that he should be on weight for the fight but saying that, he saved this card by going on short notice after a big fight with Karo. I guarantee Dana is still saying thank you and not being pissed.

I'm locking this in now, I think this is easily the best pick of this UFC.

Nate Marquardt -180 4units

I can't remember the last time I went this large on a pick, it was either Tito vs Evans or GSP vs Hughes. Either way I think it's gravy.

How can he be the one to save this card?

Everyone knows Eddie Sanchez saved this card.:mj07:

I just hope he doesn't eat some foot from Hardonk.

Anyone who took Alves before is looking more and more a bad pick. Short notice? That means if he should be in better shape now had it been 2-3 months down the road.

This clown is going down.

UFC 90: Weight Watchers; Alves vs Lutter

:142smilie :142smilie

The weird thing is I dont think this will get to Alves mentally.. I dont think hes smart enough to realize what a jackass he looks like after missing weight.. And his team treats him like he's their little baby.. If Hughes fights like his old self and controls Alves on the ground this will be a catastrophe for Alves' career.

He'll look like a jackass and a loser all within 48 hours. :00x15

The latest trend..

The latest trend..

The last few guys who have tried to look tough at the weigh-ins have gotten their asses handed to them.. So i hope the same goes for Bisping.. :mj07:

And guys that smile at the weigh-ins get their asses handed to them, usually.. Examples: Jardine, Henderson, and Sherk... all in their last fights..

I will go "On The Record" here after all my final thinking:

Already have:
Jason Day(+320) for 50
Manic Hispanic(+220) for 50 LOSER -50
Marcus Davis(even) for 100

Also playing:
MATT HUGHES(-200) for 200.
NATE MARQUARDT(-200) for 200.
LUIZ CANE (+140) for 100.
small upset. Lambert has always had issues with explosive punchers so Cane has a great chance.WINNER +140

Good Luck.
I will be watching in the afternoon as any true MMA fan would.

Vera over Werdum large -160

Davis over Swick med +105

Liaudin over Taylor med +206

I found this UFC fairly difficult to make picks for.
