There is a difference between a guy like Fedor who is exceptional in the rest of his game to be able to get away with some wild throwing and Lytle. I don't remember Davis almost getting knocked out by Taylor either but i could be wrong. Just look at most of the Champs. If u have tight slick boxing with a solid ground game ur usually the champ. Penn great striker excellent ground game. GSP. Solid striker not great but a great ground game. Why i think Swick is the only one who can take him. Swick a tight slick boxer. Same with Silva. Rashad excellent striker with a solid ground game. Rashad is a prime example. All these wild throwers (lidell)are getting knocked out. I thought the Lytle Taylor fight was a lot closer then the Taylor Davis fight. That is if i got the right guys. Just my opinion thats all.

I see what u mean, and yes it's important to be well-rounded... great thing about MMA is everybody has their own style and that is why we will never run out of interesting matchups.

My philosophy is that, in MMA, the most efficient way to defend is to not be hit at all..... guys like Fedor, A. Silva, Penn are all able to duck away and evade punches COMPLETELY for the most part.. not just block. But yes, guys like Rampage have done extremely well with traditional boxing as their foundation.

This is what the forum is for... ARGUING!! :mj07: :00hour

Look, i even dug up the Taylor/Davis fight for you. ;)

Wasn't Davis' boxing that got him rocked there.

I dont think there is a boxing coach in the world that would want Davis carrying his hands so low...

but i forgot it was a kick that rocked Davis, not a punch... we know Lytle will just be throwing hands.

I was just pointing that out.

However, I think Davis will try to keep it standing, and it'll be a boxing match more than both guys just throwing haymakers. I just don't see either guy getting KNOCKED OUT, and I see a very exciting fight going the distance.

I hope so.... they both say they wanna stand so I hope each keeps their word.

Im sure Lytle will throw some bombs, and this fight should answer some of my own questions about Marcus Davis and how good he really is. I thought highly of him until the Swick fight.... expected much more from him that night.

Same here...I actually put as high praise into him as I thought his style and all around game would give GSP a test, but Swick shot me down.

This is an underrated card, and simple, I think it'd be one of the top 5 from 2008.

There are guys with more, believe it or not.

After watching that countdown I can't wait to see my 2nd fav fighter Rua put Coleman into retirement so he can sit with his HOF plaque.

I am going with Lytle to beat Davis at +130.

I think Lytle can hang on the feet and is better on the ground.

More to come when more odds are released.

undercard odds now out

interesting to see the Schafer fight is even money...but I don't know a lot about Mendes

Ive only seen Mendes against Thiago Silva.... he seems to have really good Muay Thai and a poor ground game.. he rocked Silva in the opening seconds with a head kick, only to be taken down, mounted, and TKO'd easily by Silva.

Another tidbit i know is that he just became a full-time member of American Top Team, a sick-talented group of guys down there where he can definitely pick up some ground game. Chuck Liddell recently sought out ATT to change his training up a bit.

Still, Schafer is a shark on the ground, and i think he can take Mendes down and submit him within a minute or two.

"the bunker"
was thinking about a small play on belcher vs kang at +2.5,but kang`s hands on some youtube vids were pretty impressive....

wonder if he`ll fall victim to the "pride curse"(so many pride stars struggling in their early ufc fights).....

maybe the fact that he used to be a ufc guy will help with the transition...

Rousimar Palhares -295 at sportsbook.com !
Man, this seems too good to be true...truly anything can happen in MMA...but that's a good line...

the Dave Herman disaster took a chunk of my MMA change
There is no sure thing. Ever.

But so far I think I like Palhares, Rua, Kampmann and maybe Hendo (not sure on the main event yet)

I'm going to stay away from the Kang fight and the Davis_Lytle war.

I might take Schafer.

good luck guys. boxing and UFC look solid this weekend. I'm confident.

Just got done watchin Penn vs GSP II PRIMETIME on Spike. Tonight was episode 1, i highly recommend. Matter of fact, i think i saw kickserv in da club wit GSP. :mj07:

I backed out of my play on Coleman.. there are just too many question marks with both guys. Either way, dont think Coleman can impose his will with GnP without getting sub'd.

Chris Lytle for .5 Danas (+115)

Alan Belcher for .5 Danas (+250)

Two dogs in what i expect to be two competitive matchups. Wouldnt be surprised if i lost both, wouldnt be surprised if i won both.

-4.13 Danas since 6/21/08
