There is a difference between a guy like Fedor who is exceptional in the rest of his game to be able to get away with some wild throwing and Lytle. I don't remember Davis almost getting knocked out by Taylor either but i could be wrong. Just look at most of the Champs. If u have tight slick boxing with a solid ground game ur usually the champ. Penn great striker excellent ground game. GSP. Solid striker not great but a great ground game. Why i think Swick is the only one who can take him. Swick a tight slick boxer. Same with Silva. Rashad excellent striker with a solid ground game. Rashad is a prime example. All these wild throwers (lidell)are getting knocked out. I thought the Lytle Taylor fight was a lot closer then the Taylor Davis fight. That is if i got the right guys. Just my opinion thats all.
I see what u mean, and yes it's important to be well-rounded... great thing about MMA is everybody has their own style and that is why we will never run out of interesting matchups.
My philosophy is that, in MMA, the most efficient way to defend is to not be hit at all..... guys like Fedor, A. Silva, Penn are all able to duck away and evade punches COMPLETELY for the most part.. not just block. But yes, guys like Rampage have done extremely well with traditional boxing as their foundation.
This is what the forum is for... ARGUING!! :mj07: :00hour
Look, i even dug up the Taylor/Davis fight for you.
