Are they really not going to show the Jon Fitch fight? I hope they at least play it after the main event or something. Fitch is a warrior and if Dana wants to do things for the fans then lets see Fitch get back in the W column.

i totally agree...after that war with st pierre,it would be a real slap in the face to not include fitch in the main card.....i persoanlly don`t think either bonnar or parysian deserve a spot in front of fitch...

Raw, thank you very much. I've saved that site in my favorites like I should have before.

I'm not positive but I really like Tavares right now. I just don't think Manny is anything special. I also think if Guida can fight smart then he can win. It might not be pretty or dominant but I think he could be a good bet, especially if you can get him as a small dog and not just even.

So far it looks like I'll be playing
GSP
Silva
Tavares
Guida

Just not sure how much yet. And it won't pay well but a Fitch Karo parlay looks pretty good. Both guys have good chins which is usually the only thing that scares me about big favs.

What do Jamie Varner, Urijah Faber, Jens Pulver, Robbie Lawler, Caol Uno, and Kid Yamamoto have in common?? They all have supreme confidence in one fighter this weekend. :D

Interview with Penn..... he answers some questions about his weight and thought process heading into the fight.

Penn says he is 171 pounds right now and has been there for three weeks. GSP, on the other hand, cuts around 17 pounds leading up to weigh-ins.

I am sure Machida can run from him for 3 rounds and throw the occasional counter punch and try for a takedown or two and steal 2 rounds(like he always does). I may have to be drunk to sit through another Machida fight.:mj06:

Machida

I was hoping he would lose to end the love fest here with some of the guys but his opponent just rubs me the wrong way. Not sure why but he just looks like a punk. Go Machida

Anyone have odds on all the fights yet?

The Machida bet would scare me. Silva has showed nothing but dominance in his fights. I'm not saying I think he'll win because Machida has showed no weaknesses but Silva is a totally different fighter from any others he's faced. I doubt I'll play it but I'm considering a small play on Silva.

Lay i could have sworn that Silva came very close to being knocked out his very last fight. I thought he got hurt very early and the fight was almost stopped. I think it was him. Could be wrong.

Sponge, you're correct on the fight. He took a kick to the head(although it was blocked) and it seemed to wobble him. That's part of what impresses me about him, he took that kick and then still ended up winning shortly after it.

I think it's the chute boxe style, I like aggressive fighters.

i'm on machida as well. there is something to said about a fighter who can win like silva, but he has had trouble in pretty much every ufc fight he's had. irvin was lighting him up before his knee folded. drwal was defending every takedown and gave him trouble standing. houston ragdolled him to the mat. mendes stunned him with kicks in the opening seconds.

i think if you add all that up, machida can defend the takedown and outstrike him.

Muhr, when I first sat down to look at the fights I thought I would be on Machida. I still think he'll win but I'm getting what I feel is good money coming back and that works for this fight.

In the fights you mentioned Silva won in round 1, 1, 1 and 2 and that was against good fighters.(not great but good) He's not the best striker and not the best grappler but something about what he is or does makes him win. If this fight was in the 100s I would be all over Machida but it's not. I can get Silva at +226 and that's about 26 cents enough for me.

If he would have lost any of those fights he had trouble in then I would have no thoughts about taking him. He has heart and is strong minded, I'll take a shot with a guy like that any day.(of course he could end up like Fitch vs GSP and have all the heart in the world and just get the chit kicked out of him:142smilie )

Keep in mind the competition that Thiago Silva has faced..... Irvin suffered a knee injury against Silva, Houston Alexander has been exposed, and Mendes went on to be dominated by Eric Schafer right after his loss to Thiago..

You guys already noted Silva's problems standing against Mendes, but Silva looked very uncomfortable with his striking against Houston Alexander... I realize Houston can be a scary dude, but Silva looked completely lost on the feet against him. Machida is the most accurate striker in the light heavy division.

Not to say Machida has faced the best of the best, but Thiago hasnt faced anyone noteworthy IMO. There's no denying he has a very good mount and ground n pound, but i dont think he can get Machida in that position. Machida showed he has very good defensive wrestling in his fight with Tito.

Odds on Thiago are good, and the guy IS undefeated so hard to bash a play on Thiago.

Ive said it before, i think Machida is going to completely embarrass Thiago, even more than he did Tito.

Sorry guys, had to walk away from my post for a while and when i got back to post you guys had already discussed all my points. :142smilie :142smilie

I agree.. Fitch/Gono should be on rather than Bonnar/Jones.... this is Jones' first meaningful MMA fight (granted he is a very accomplished wrestler) and Bonnar's first fight back from injury. Plus, Gono has a lot of fans, includingme. :) Maybe they are trying to market Bonnar a little... his next fight could easily be against a big name at light heavy if manages to win.

Early plays:

Machida (-250).... 2.5 Prodigies.... I planned on putting more on Lyoto, but I dont trust some of these MMA judges with Machida... AGGRESSION is one of the key scoring points and i feel like Machida may get screwed out of a decision one day b/c we all know that Machida......... well....... isnt aggressive.

Penn (+160).... .5 Prodigy..... ok, i lied... gotta play the main event w/ Penn as an underdog.

More to come....... will be on Guida.

2009 MMA record 3-0 +8 units

GSP -177 3units
Tavares -121 2units
Silva +226 .5unit

Parlay
Karyo -299
Fitch -566 1unit to win .57unit(not sure if it's even worth it)

Decided not to worth a Guida bet but if the line goes up for some reason I'll bite for a small play.

GSP bet-I'll be anxious to see what GSP decides to do. Does he try to take Penn down or does he stand and bang. Personally I think this is the more safe route. Going to the ground is my only worry because of BJs subs, although I'm not too worried about it. I think this is a pretty damn good bet and would love to go bigger on it but I'm taking my time this year on big bets.

i know it`s not the popular pick, but i`m going against the grain and taking manny gamburyan(-110) to turn it around(even though i was hoping for better odds)......not crazy about tavares...gamburyan is crazy strong and i think a good deal better than he looked when he got caught cold by emerson...

manny`s fought many bigger guys and his win over santiago is impressive...

i see that tavares only has one tko on his record so the chances of manny getting sloppy again and getting caught are reduced...

tavares` best win was vs jason black and if you look at his record, black has faltered as he`s stepped up in competition of late...

tavares` losses were vs physical types like tyson griffin and batman pellegrino and matt wiman who just wore him down...

gambutyan is verrry physical and doesn`t have to deal with a huge height disparity(5'-5"/5'7")...

he doesn`t appear to be prone to getting subbed(the nate diaz loss was due to injury..he was doing well up to that point)...

a flash k.o. to emerson(emerson has 6 losses in his first 8 fights,6 wins in a row with the controversial nc vs tough gray maynard) ,an injury loss to diaz and a loss to sean sherk(no disgrace there)...i think gamburyan`s strength and his striking make him formidable and potentially able to end this abruptly...

want to bet jon jones+145,but i don`t get these odds...an experienced guy like bonnar only laying -165 against this novice?....

the guy`s a pretty good wrestler...looks tall...is a creative striker(spinning back fists) and has some very nice judo throws....

but,i`m thinking that regardless of how potentially bad this fight could start out for bonnar,he can maybe just out-tough and out-last jones....and bonnar`s subs are underrated...

..interesting fight .. not really a big bonnar fan...

not sure whether i`ll try it or not...

idiot!....knew i should have waited......:banghead:

My only play so far is small on BJ though I do worry that he will try to be as heavy as poss to cope with the power and strength of GSP.

I like Lyoto and will probably take a shot on Arroyo
