pick thread mistakes = major kickserv ban...major:nono:

Also.....my two cents on Maia...the guy sucks standing up....taking Sonnen at such big odds seems to be the smart play does it not:shrug:

Maia relies soley on his ground game....that will catch up to him.

I like debating with you Raw, you're good natured and it's about the fights not anything personal.

Here's my thing with Sonnen. You say he's gotten better on his sub defense and that the Filho fight was a wakeup call. To me it was just that sub defense is his weakness. During the periods he wasn't sub'd was it because his d was good or the sub attempts where bad?

It's a steep price on the fight so I can understand someone not liking how hight it is but if it goes to the ground I just can't see Sonnen stopping the sub for 3 rounds.

No matter what it will be good. I love watching Maia's transitions, he's truely amazing.

Me too.... we have fun. :toast: I think you and I have similar analysis most of the time, just different betting strategies.

Filho is difficult to understand, so i may be way off. Magazines had him ranked top 3 at middleweight before his first fight with Sonnen. His Brazilian counterparts expected him to be the next big thing before....... well....... going crazy. :mj07: I'm just not quite sure when he went crazy.

Thing is Sonnen was beating Filho so badly I think he got too comfortable in his guard. He was defending chain submissions time and time again (all while pounding the shit out of Filho), and right when he "relaxed" is when he got caught. I dont want it to sound like i'm making excuses, but more like i'm giving Chael an "A" for effort. :142smilie

I'm just really excited for this fight.... I don't think Chael is a devastating finisher or anything, but I do think he can beat a lot of guys at middleweight. He is crazy strong and has made a career out of ground n pound. For an experienced guy like him to be around 2-to-1 is juuuust enough for me to lay the wood on him. :)

Let's not discount the fact that Sonnen had plenty of opportunities to keep that fight standing up, but due to lack of experience he kept taking the bait.

Not that the last Fihlo fight could show much, but it did show that he wasn't just going to settle to try and beat someone on the ground when he is dominating the stand-up.

Will u be going over Dawgs head and banning people in the picks thread for off topic behavior, or will u let dawg do that? :director:

:142smilie

I don't ban people, but bashing in the picks thread will just get you ignored from the tracking standpoint. :)

i honestly put a bet on sonnen at +235...but the more i think about it,the more i think the guy just doesn`t get it...

lost 3 times to horn(yeah i know horn used to be good)...the last 2 via submission...

i was willing to give sonnen the benefit of the doubt(a legit, tough guy),but the last 2 losses to horn were via subs...matter of fact, the majority of his losses are via subs...

he`s a wrestler by nature and i`m not sure he can change...

sad because he`s a primo athlete and a tough out for pretty much anybody...

after watching some video,i`m actually looking at stefan struve +240....

he might get knocked out...dos santos is the better striker,imo...but,the guy is 6`7" and is pretty good with the subs off his back(if he can get it there).......

maybe dos santos is too strong...this guy doesn`t look physical...looks fairly frail...but i watched him in a kick boxing match and some mma....and he`s fairly well rounded...he can strike...

his chin is a ???..another issue is that he doesn`t have any wins over anybody worth mentioning...

also think etim`s better than cobb.......but those odds are way off the hook...possible parlay fodder..

not official picks...just thinking out loud..

still thinking about these...probably not worth the trouble with so much riding on dirty sanchez..

i dont see much i like on this card. Half the guys i never heard of. If Sanchez drops below 300 i may take him but that is about it for me.

I just watched the press conference footage on UFC.com......

Diego looks completely different at 155. :scared Hope he dropped the weight correctly because he has lost a lot of mass.

Holy shit, I didn't even notice him at first. I was clocking on different links trying to find that footage, then I remembered he was fighting Stevenson and that was him on the front LOL

For those on Diego, ya better hope he wins in round 1....the weight cut, time change, and travel will catch up to him in the late rounds.

Oh and he's a complete idiot and prick...that doesn't help:)

Kick, that's not all together true. It depends on when he did the cut. He sounds like he's been at it a while and isn't doing it too drastically(as in the last few days before the fight). Too many guys try to cut water weight at the last minute and that will leave you zapped and leave your muscles flat but if he did it right and only had to cut a little water weight then he's good to go. He may have more cardio than ever if he isn't carrying as much muscle.

Diego is going to pound him, plain and simple. I was worried yesterday seeing him so skinny at the press conference but at weigh ins he looked good and ready to fight for title after this fight. Stevenson may be worth the bet but this is going to get ugly fast in favor of Sanchez. He is cocky but not sure why all the haters. He is an impressive fighter.
