Didn't we go through all this before the GSP fight? I thought it was agreed upon by all that Shields was an overrated bum when GSP shut his grappling game down completely

If you look at Shields shit performance vs Kampmann you certainly can't call it impressive. At the time bucs mentioned that Shields was having a problem making the weight cut, which I stated was a valid excuse. But can we then not use the same excuse for Hendo?

Actually, if you examine the whole thing from a fair perspective, it would appear that the win over Hendo was an anomaly considering the form of Hendo in the fights before and after. And the fact that shields looked like total shit in his last two fights (just like he did in that first round until hendo gassed).

Like Sponge said, hendo is an olympic wrestler. The funny thing is, shields never even wrestled in college, just high school. And as far as I know, he didn't even win anything. He probably just signed up to get teabagged by dudes.

Forget that fight transcription, here is the video, you can even see when hendo gasses. If Shields were actually a world class grappler that could impose his will on a healthy Hendo, why wasn't he able to impose his will on a much smaller GSP, let alone Martin focking Kampmann.

What did they give him the pills for u double jackass? I highlighted it for ya with ur own post. U think Hendo is the guy who is gonna come out with excuses? They gave me pills for my bad back!!!!!

*glassy stare*

it wasn`t the back?...it was the medication?....ohhhhhhh !!...

next thing we`ll hear is that he accidentally put bengay on his balls instead of his back.....:142smilie

i could try and find the video, but i doubt that it would convince a guy that puts his highest level academic diploma in his car window so he can park in handicapped spaces.....

Jake Shields takes the unanimous decision with scores of 49-46, 49-45 and 48-45. ............

he got in the cage...and was dominated....i`m pretty sure that dan`s man enough to handle it...ashamed his fanboys can`t get their heads out of dan`s arse and do the same.....

:0003 .

Shields poked GSP in the eye, gave him an advantage to the striking game.

GSP put vaseline all over his back, gave him advantage in ground game(where he tends to spend 90% of his fights humping).

Oh well

So did Kampamnn grease as well?

BTW you give GSP shit for man humping and putting on boring fights, which is true.

But Shields gets a pass? This guy is the definition of a man humper and has never even been involved in an exciting fight during his whole career. Atleast if you are going to put on a homoerotic display and call it fighting, put on the speedos and do it right like gsp

bucs yet again with stupid comments.

And for the record.......Shields couldn't do shit even though he poked GSP in the eye. He barely beat Miller and beat Henderson who was clearly hurt.

Shields is so massively over-rated it ain't even funny.

Oh and Shields is by far the most boring fighter in the top 50, by far. Guy stand up sucks....bad. He just lays on top of you and does nothing.

GSP beat him easily on one eye for fucks sake.

Let's not forget Kampmann fought like an idiot and would have smashed Shields in the 3rd round if he had a brain.

Of course the dumb shit bucs actually thinks GSP cheats so I guess Shields would have beat GSP if GSP didn't cheat:facepalm:

he`s a man-humper no doubt...he just does it better than pretty much everybody else....

it`s not exciting...it`s not fan-friendly....but it gets shields "w"`s over some solid fighters....

it got him 4 out of 5 rounds vs henderson...that`s just the way it is....you get in the cage and you win or lose......aside from a d.q.,there are no asterisks on the record....

I was referring to GSPs fight with BJ Penn. I'm not sure what Kampmann has to do with this? lol

I don't give Shields a pass. I've never been on here saying the guy is an exciting fighter. Him and GSP both have the same amount of finishes. Shields won the title, and still finished fights. GSP won the title back and got conservative. I'm not sure what putting on speedos and doing it right like GSP means?

I do find it funny that everyone criticized Shields and gave GSP all this credit for stopping Shields "grappling dominance." Well, I put that in quotes because Shields never tried to grapple with GSP in that fight. He never really even tried to take him down and wrestle. When he tried, it as half ass attempts. He admitted after the fight that he employed a bad strategy, wanted to show he could stand and that he improved his striking. DUMB

I can't think off top of my head 1 single time Shields and GSP engaged in anything that involved grappling really.

I barely won the mega millions, but I did. You can't make "barely" "would've" as an argument when a fighter wins. It doesn't fucking matter if he barely won, HE WON! LOL @ You predicting Kampmann would've smashed Shields if he didnt fight like an idiot. I would've also won the mega millions if I picked all the #s correctly, grasshopper. BJ PENN would've smashed GSP if GSP didnt have grease all over his body LMAO

"Shields couldn't do shit even though he poked GSP in the eye" - Care to find the compu strikes? Once again, Shields landed more punches...out struck GSP....GSP landed more damaging blows, that's all.

You like to say GSP toys with his opponents. You're dead wrong. GSP likes to fight conservative and not lose his belt. If you wanna watch a fighter TOY, TOOL, TEASE, MAKE A FOOL AND A JOKE out of opponents, see: Anderson Silva

GSP dominates....deal with it.

He made Penn quit......that is toying with your opponent.

And Shields couldn't do shit even though GSP had one eye.

Kampmann fought like an idiot, he should have smashed Shields in the third round, instead he went to the ground with Shields....and Shields could barely breath:142smilie

I was saying that his grappling looked like shit vs kampmann. Point was that if hendo was anywhere close to 100% why wasn't shields able to outgrapple kampmann.

I don't give Shields a pass. I've never been on here saying the guy is an exciting fighter. Him and GSP both have the same amount of finishes.

GSP at one time was exciting, Shields never was. Plus, those finishes were against total cans who GSP would have literally killed.

I'm not sure what putting on speedos and doing it right like GSP means?

Shields tried to take him down in that first round and ended up looking foolish. Then he comes out saying "I could have taken GSP down, but it didn't seem like a good idea at the time"

DeFactoCrippler.....well said.

But won't matter what you say.

bucs will just say GSP cheated, that is why Shields looked like an idiot during the takedown attempts

GSP had one eye and it made no difference.

Shields will get exposed soon enough.

He got many of his wins against shit competition and should have never got a title shot in the UFC. Ellenberger ain't the best, but he sure has enough to beat Shields.

Oddsmakers don't seem to be giving him a lot respect. Coming off a title fight in one of the most historic UFC event would normally earn you an inflated line due to public perception.

Fight seems like a pickem to me :0003

nobody enjoys watching shields` style...and nobody(i`m sad to say) likes watching gsp anymore either......they just aren`t exciting....

but wrestling is a big part of the sport...as rogan said,it`s the best possible base an mma fighter can have.....8 times out of ten a one dimensional wrestler beats a one dimensional striker.....and if he`s an elite grappler(fitch and shields),he can beat pretty much everyone short of gsp.....including henderson....regardless off their collegiate pedigree...

now spongy,if that`s keeping you up at night,wear a f*&?n helmet.... :D

Yep, I got Jake Ellenberger at +170......live dog for sure.

Shields ain't a bad fighter at all, just hugely over-rated. Plenty of wins against terrible competition and a one dimensional fighter.

His stand up is terrible and he is slower then a sloth. Yes he is good on the ground but will never finish anybody with talent. Henderson was hurt and he couldn't finish for fucks sake. GSP had one eye and he never came close to beating GSP. He was on the ground with Miller for the entire fight and didn't finish Miller.

Botton line......Shields has nothing except laying on top of ya for 5 rounds. He may beat Ellenberger but you have to be on crack to take Shields at his odds.

Shields will get exposed. An inflated record can only take you so far. Shields is good, very good in fact. But nowhere close to being "at the top".

we`re all entitled to our opinions,kick...but you can`t just disregard a guy that has beaten kamomann/henderson/jason miller/lawler/carlos condit and okami.....collective record of 140-39...all fighting elite level competition...and i`m not mentioning tough guys like nick thompson/mike pyle/daley/toby imada etc.........

i honestly would love to see shields vs fitch.....would be high level grappling at it`s finest...

btw...i`m sticking with my shields -160 wager despite the unfortunate circumstances with his father...i see nothing on ellenberger`s record(and i likie ellenberger) that would indicate he`ll fare any better than the above mentioned fighters...

Shields has been very lucky......luck will only take ya so far.

And yes he has beat some good fighters, but to have Shields "at the top" is laughable.

Kampmann most say he won, Henderson was hurt, Miller was inches away from putting him to sleep. Lawler stinks, Condit was a small child and Okami beat him but got fuked. Ellenberger will smash him for good unless another fluke sets in like Ellenberger fighting hurt or getting poked in the eye or a bogus decision like in the Okami fight.

Nice to see Belcher back. He was becoming a small star. Rock solid chin and big balls. I wonder how big those balls are now with his eye being a slight problem.
