henderson lost...whatever the reason...whatever the excuse...he lost....he lost to jake shields...

as did okami...as did condit....as did jason miller...lawler/kampmann et al....

now who on gsp`s ledger blows these guys away?...

/*disclaimer..."i like gsp vs shields"...repeat: "i like gsp over shields, particularly in a 5 round fight in canada"...

u can look at that Okami fight and say he lost? Machida beat Rampage but Okami lost to Shields? Interesting.

can't believe ppl are trying to pick apart Jake Shield's grappling and wrestling, LMFAO. Dude is easily one of the most elite fighters in that department in the world.

Kampman picked it apart at times. But instead of admitting shields got exposed, people just elevate kampman's ground game to "elite god status" as well

Now are you going make an "excuse" for Shields in this fight?

You wanna talk about the lack of finishes? Look at GSP, the dude hasn't finished a fight technically since beatting Serra in the rematch. But it's okay because HE WINS.

GSP dominated every minute of every one of those fights against the best in the division.

Shields struggled against people like mayhem miller, and martin kampmann.

But wait

I'm just underestimating people like kampamn and miller, they are not middle tier stepping stones, they are the elite in their weight class

I get it you are just playing devil's advocate. But man, GSP impressively beat fitch and kos twice impressively. Fitch is clearly #2 in the world at 170 and gsp destroyed him. Kos was clearly top 5.

Both Fitch and Kos are undoubtedly better p4p fighters than okami and post pride hendo. And GSP just killed them. (at their own game too)

I know shields got the "W" on paper but I think we can all appreciate a win isnt always a a win. Like if the opening bell rang and hendo lost by tko because he spontaneously combusted. Shields would get the win, but would that be a true test of his skills? I think the hendo fight falls somewhere between that and a legit win for Shields.

But all that aside, the only two wins on his resume were okami/hendo. To be truthful they were the only impressive opponents on his resume.

Did shields honestly impress you in that okami fight? I think he looked awful at times and lost the fight imo. if the fight was 5 rounds he would have lost for sure.

What about the hendo fight? I was impressed that he was able to maintain consciousness in that first round, but thats about it.

Shields has no chance here. The reason everybody is hyping shields is because they need to sell the fight. Remember how "nasty" dan hardys left became when he was fighting GSP.

Rogan was obviously given a script to hype Shields with during that kampman fight (because it was his tuneup fight before GSP). All he could really do was bring up what other people said about him and mention that video of him and fitch. All the while martin kampman was making his "elite" grappling look very mediocre.

If shields is so elite show me what he as done (video) that should warrant this? Everyone knows he has absolutely no chance, the people like rogan who are serving up the bullshit know it, everyone in mma knows it, and the oddsmaker knows it.

The reasons that people have for shields winning are far reaching. Theyre just grasping at straws, just like the shogun fight. And to be honest, like me with the bruce leroy fight.

LMFAO, you just proved my point for me.

It's okay if GSP goes to decision because he dominates. Did he really dominate if he can't finish fighters?

You guys really love the hammer on the Kampmann fight, but fail to acknowledge that Martin is a really good fighter. You also fail to consider the Shields hasn't fought at Welterweight since when? Good god, you can't expect his cardio to be at an elite level when he hasn't fought at that weight in years.

When GSP goes to decsion he wins every round of the fight.

He doesn't lose the fight on one judges score card to martin kampman

im going to say it again

Lol, you don't see GSP collapsed in the middle of the ring unable to defend himself.

i don't know if youre dull, or just delusional because you have a hard on for shields.

I find it hard to have a rational convo with you. You don't even bet, you just develop a crush on whatever fighter and then come in and spout nonsense. What do they call that?

Oh yeah, a fanboy.

You guys really love the hammer on the Kampmann fight, but fail to acknowledge that Martin is a really good fighter.

Right I see. jake is a "grappling god" and when he got exposed it was because kampman was also a grappling "god".

I suppose mayhem miller is an elite grappling god as well...

You also fail to consider the Shields hasn't fought at Welterweight since when? Good god, you can't expect his cardio to be at an elite level when he hasn't fought at that weight in years.

Oh what is this? An excuse?

Whats funny is that I already made this excuse for "your" fighter.

When has his cardio been at an elite level in any weight class? What makes you think this weight cut will make his cardio even better?

Dont bother answering those questions because i already made the mistake of responding to your nonsense directly. It will not happen again.

Where have I ever claimed Kampmann as a grapling god? If you're gonna have an argument, atleast don't spew nonsense and make things up. You can't be taken seriously. I've been a Jake Shields fan for a long time. Just like I'm a Nick Diaz fan and Gilbert Melendez fan...they're teamates and I root for them all.

Who cares if the judge gave one of the rounds or the fight to Kampmann. Cecil Peoples judges fights blind folded 99% of the time, does that mean he was right? Who cares if it's a split decision or decision, HE WON.

When was his cardio at an elite level? Look at him when he was at WW years ago, and look at him recently at MW. You don't have any recollection because you probably just started watching MMA, refer to it as "UFC", and think you know everything.

I'm not making excuses about Shields cardio. You try it, but I'm sure you've probably never exercised in your life so you don't know what it's like to transition with cardio. Do you really expect any fighter to move down a weight class that he hasn't fought in years and to be running around like a wild man?

You love fest boy toy GSP has even said that he would need time off to make the transition because of his weight and cardio. It's okay though, because it's GSP, he gets a pass.

At the end of the day, I could care less if you respond, saves me time, effort, and I don't kill any brain cells trying to decypher what the hell you're talking about.

now mayhem miller is a joke?...he`s a clown...but he`s damned good...not to mention he`s fighting at 185....

are you actually saying that shields isn`t an elite grappler(even in an mma setting)?.....

then please tell us just how he mamnaged to pull off 15 straight wins vs some very solid opposition...

with his striking?

(it's to strengthen his argument)

he was probably one of the guys sucking him off while hating on Diaz cuz Diaz "is ducking Miller"

I'll be the first to say that I don't think Miller is a top level fighter. He's a good fighter, but not someone at the top of the food chain should be chomping at the bit to fight.

Episode 2
------------------------------------------------

I think my fave part was when Jake Shields trainer said "Jake's stand up has improved"

Well fuck I hope so. :mj07:

Shields is a big test for GSP. Even the guy that knows everything about MMA (we call him bucs) says Shields is great........

After GSP toys with him maybe even bucs will give GSP credit. GSP is the best MMA fighter on the planet. But it won't be official until bucs sees him beat Shields.

We all know bucs is the authority. So we bow down to bucs.:mj05:

We have explained it to u 15 times but the tunnel vision part of ur brain seems to not be able to retain any of it.
Hendo- Shields won because Hendo was hurt and was a shell of himself as u could see his following fight tossing a much bigger man around like a rag doll like Hendo usually always does when he is healthy.
Kapman- some had Kapman winning
Miller- was choking him out and Shields was saved by the bell
Okami anyone worth a salt knows Okamai won that fight.
Condit was a puppy when they fought
Robbie Lawler and Paul Daley? We all know how great these guys are when they are taken down.
So on this huge great string of great victories his biggest name to me would be Hendo cause he actually won that one. A guy who never has a problem getting down to 185 but because of a bad back and a large promo he felt he had to take the fight. Oh and Bucks as for Okami. Yes Shields wouldn't have lasted the whole five rounds. He got the piss beat out of him in round three bleeding like a stuff pig. His takedowns were pitiful since he was gassing. He was finished.

Nobody is saying Shields is a joke. He is a big man for 170 and this could give GSP some problems but i doubt it. U can't be this one deminsional and think u are gonna beat a guy like GSP.

this guy wins practically every fight due to injuries/luck/karma or the monkey`s paw according to spongey...

and then this....

Nobody is saying Shields is a joke. .

:00x12

do you ever listen to yourself?.....do the voices inside your head ever communicate with one another?....

i just can`t discuss combat sports with you any more spongey....it`s too f-cking bizarre...

but carry on...i`m sure some others will be willing to have discussions with the two of you....

g.l....

From watching the first two shows it is clear GSP is the better athlete and that may be the edge that determines the outcome of this fight

Shields is a grappling beast and if he can get on top of GSP he can certainly win. I'm expecting GSP to follow Gilbert Melendez's tactics against Aoki and make this a kick boxing event. His stand up is many levels ahead of Shields but what makes this fight is the threat of the takedown from Shields and the ability to keep him down once there. Looking at GSP's past opponents only Fitch going in would have figured to be able to take him down and control him. Fitch could not do it though. Is Shields better than Fitch? I think so.
