Round 3 play (4pts):

Matt Kuchar to beat Jason Dufner -108 @ 5Dimes and Pinnacle [available generally]
Kuchar lost out to back-to-back birdies from Rose to finish his round on Thursday, but I'll still back him again this week. He ranks 9th in driving accuracy this week (Tiger Woods is 1st) and 2nd in greens in regulation (Jim Furyk is 1st), so he has been showing the ball control necessary to play well this week. It also means that he clearly warrants his 9th place position (alongside Dufner) despite opening with a double-bogey yesterday. Dufner's best finish in five attempts in the U.S. Open is 33rd, so even though he is in the form of his life, this should be a hard grind for him unlike Kuchar who has the perfect game and temperament for this event.

[unofficial rd3 system play: Choi tb Toms -110]

R3 Watney over Garcia +120

I like "local guy" Watney, with all his buddies in attendance against Garcia who plays lackadaisically when he has a small chance to win.

Nice pick. You must be from the area? I watched Watney in college. I'm from that area as well...

Going to need a major meltdown from Toms.

big one for the tourney:

DLIII -115 over david toms

would be absolutely shocked if toms was around for the weekend - hard not to like "no" love's current form and i also like the carrot dangling in front of him that is the potential to play his way onto this year's Ryder Cup squad - don't laugh, he currently sits 42nd in the Ryder Cup standings and will undoubtedly leapfrog a lot of folks this week if he can pick up a solid check (double points for majors and i'm sure a lot of people in front of him aren't even in the field this week)

2 golfers moving in opposite directions right now - Toms has played miserably since his solid finish in the Tour Championship including lw at a track that he historically loves - see no reason that will chnage this week - only negative is Love's performance in the 1998 us open at Olympic where he missed the cut by a wide margin, but that was 15 years ago and I'm not going to let that get in the way of this play

as always, good luck

Going to need a major meltdown from Toms.

aggravating to me that loveiii doubled 18 - if he was in at 8 under we would be talking 6 strokes and with Toms with a lot of golf to play

oh well, a few more bogies from toms and love may have a fighting chnace headed into tomorrow

Another great U.S. Open set up by Mike Davis . . . But it's a lot easier when there is a 99% chance going in that the weather will cooperate with your plans.

A long day ahead, looking for some action, nothing more than that . . .

Rose(-135) over Garcia
Harrington(-115) over Goosen
Westwood(-115) over Woods
Grace(-105) over Manassero

Happy Father's Day!
