I would give him very little chance. He is only here because of a career-week at the Volvo PGA Championship. In the last four years, his highest finish on the European Tour Order of Merit has been 85th. I bet Torrance was mightily relieved when he dropped out of the automatic Ryder Cup positions!

He has never played in the States before and the humidity will kill him - he is of the Monty/Clarke stature

Couple of small plays in the speciality markets
Jimenez to be top European 25/1 - now recovered from injury with a very good record in US Majors
Azinger to be top US player without Woods - I just feel the 40/1 is too big a price

72-hole plays:

Charles Howell to beat David Gossett -110 @ Surrey [2 units] [-130 @ Camelot]
Gossett has made the headlines with his victory at the John Deere Classic, but he has played virtually the whole season on the Buy.com Tour with success only in the last two months. Howell has been played exclusively on the PGA Tour has finished in the top-15 on 7 of 14 starts. Much more consistent at this level

Tom Kite to beat Curtis Strange -125 @ Camelot [2 units]
Very surprised to see this as a matchup. Kite remains very competitive on the Senior PGA Tour where he has secured a top-10 finish in all but one of his last seven events and was 5th at the US Open. Strange may have been 5th in his last PGA Tour event, the St Jude Classic, but he has missed seven of his nine cuts this year and is a full-time broadcaster not a competitive pro

Hidemichi Tanaka to beat Grant Waite -125 @ Camelot
Waite is a pale shadow of the player that secured back-to-back runners-up spots in Canada last year. Since the TPC he has made the cut just 3 times from 14 starts with a best of 30th! In record in majors is no better, just two cuts made from 10 starts. Tanaka may not make it to the weekend either, but he already made a name for himself at the WGC-Amex Championship last year at Valderrama and has won once and finished in the top-5 in three of his last four Japan Tour events

Will have more this evening

adding 2 matches @ Camelot
Omeara +110 over Oly
Omeara current form not too bad and has made cut in all of past 5 championships,Oly was cut 3 of last 4 and driving stats big factor.

Brown -105 over Thelan

Know absolutely nothing bout either but 6 stroke adjusted scoring advantage in past PGA Champ history got my attention.

To be posted on the playbook.com web site on Thursday morning:

Plays rated 2 thru 5 stars..... Matches and Opening round TEE TIMES (in eastern time):

3*** Play on STEWART CINK (1:55pm) over Hal Sutton (8:10am) ....Sutton missed cut last week, is fighting a very-fatiquing sleep disorder, and has also missed the cut in 3 of his last 5 PGA'S.... Cink's per-round stroke average in this event is a FULL two shots better!

3*** Play on NICK PRICE (8:55am) over Jose Maria Olazabal (8:30am) .... Our strongest of all the 3-STAR matches... The Spaniard is in piss-poor form: has missed the cut in 4 of his last 6 overall, and in 3 of his last 4 PGA'S! Price has got the best top-5 average in this event of ANYONE in the field....

3*** Play on DAVIS LOVE III (2:05pm) over Ernie Els (8:30am) ....Love's last 4 PGA Championships: 9th, 49th, 7th, and FIRST.... He is head and shoulders above the under-achieving Els in all 3 KEY stats of Driving Accuracy, Greens in Regulation, and Putting Average.... And he's a Georgia NATIVE!

3*** Play on DARREN CLARKE (8:40am) over Jesper Parnevik (8:35am) .... Great current form for the suddenly-svelte CLARKE: FIVE top-5 finishes in his last 8 Tournamnets (including a FIRST).... He's ranked #24 and #25 in GIR and PUTTING while Jesper is #87 and #99 in the same two categories. Has done MUCH better than the Swede in the 3 previous Majors this year!

3*** SCOTT HOCH (1:45) over Mike Weir (9:10am) ....Throw out Hoch's missed-cut last weekand he has contended in EVERY one of his last 9 Tournaments (including finishes of FIRST, 2nd, 10th, 5th, 6th, and FIRST!)... He's ranked #6 in Putting and #14 in Driving Accuracy. Meanwhilem "Southpaw" Mike Weir is #27 and #83 in the same two stats....

3*** JIM FURYK (1:35pm) over Tom Lehman (1:50pm) ....Lehman has now missed two cuts in a row and is NOT in good current form.... Furyk "stepped up" last week with his 2nd place finish at the Buick and has three top-15 finishes in his last five PGA's.... VERY accurate off the tee (ranked #11) and great with the "flatstick" (#13)....

2** Play on DAVID DUVAL (8:45am) over Tiger Woods (8:45am).....The BEST value play on the board! Duval is in MUCH better form (confident off his British Open win while Tiger's last 4 Tournaments are 25th, 20th, 16th, and 12th). We'll take the Dog at better than 2 to 1 odds and BETTER form!

Called in bets for the first time in almost two yrs last night, but I see it was worth it. Once Stanley and DOGS release their plays the lines have moved 30+ cents from where I played them LOL!

Was surprised AcesGold had some very nice opening matchup lines, particularly on Furyk and Hoch. I've not used them much for golf in the past, I don't even think they offer golf most weeks, but I nearly emptied my acct there this wk!

Thinking about the under 64.5 at carib. Even if this course is playing long and tough down the stretch, there is almost always a rabbit one day ( and 6 under isn't that low ). Also eyeing Hart+125 in 1st rd 3-ball, seems the class of the group at a decent price.

Upped with Infinity for foots but I was able to parlay golf matchups there, which is outside the norm for most of my outs.

Adding 72-hole plays:

Tim Thelen to beat Mark Brown -125 @ Camelot [3 units]
Thelen has had four horrible rounds in this tournament, but he has become a much better player since those scores. The 1999 event was his first start in a Tour event. Last year he played on the Buy.com Tour securing one top-10 from eight starts and this year he has played four time on the main PGA Tour, making the cut twice and finishing 12th at the BC Open. Brown is a veteran of the Canadian and Australasian Tours and has struggled on both. He has made just four cuts from ten events on the Canadian Tour this season and this is much too big a step up in class this week

Shingo Katayama to beat Joe Ozaki -135 @ Camelot
Katayama won three straight events on the Japan Tour at the end of last year and while he has only won once this year, he has shown that he can play to a decent standard on the PGA Tour with two cuts made from four starts, including 40th at the Masters. Ozaki is a PGA Tour veteran, but has really struggled this year, making just one of his last six PGA Tour cuts. Can't see him making the cut this week

Bob Sowards to beat Jerry Pate -115 @ Camelot
Pate is no more than a celebrity player this week - he won the 1976 US Open on this course, but has played only four touraments in the last four years (three of them were pro-ams) and missed the cut in every one. Sowards hasn't been a full-time member of a Tour since the 1998 Buy.com (NIKE) Tour, but this is more a play against Pate

Adding prop:

Tiger Woods to beat David Duval - 72-hole score & greens in regulation +261 @ UKBetting [3 units]
Incredible offering from UKBetting. Minimum doubles from head-to-head in five categories: driving distance, driving accuracy, greens in regulation, number of putts and 72-hole score, all @ -111. Would be tempted to make it a treble with driving distance, but the most correlated stat with scoring is greens in regulation, so it makes sense to make that the combination in a very correlated parlay!
