jack just called, on the break...2 levels to go.

jack is sitting with $32,900

highlight hand was $4,000 pot everyone checked and one guy went all-in with more chips than Jack so he also checked...said it cost him but had no choice...he is still upbeat..very upbeat...please excuse my poker jargon, don't play the game but am writing down what he tells me on the phone...he said next update would be in 2 hours, maybe less..

Go Jack Go!!! Thanks for the updates in the WSOP. Sounds like Jack's gonna stick around for another day (at least) of action!

I guess this guy had a better place to be:

No Show...Still
Table 134 has an empty seat. The player that was suppose to be in seat 8 has not been inside the Rio once today as 11:30 p.m. approaches us. The player is being blinded off and is now down to $1,800.

Hope I wake up tomorrow and see that Jack made it to the next round, I am living poker vicariously through him... :142smilie

update: lotta nothing

update: lotta nothing

Good news is the seat on Jack's immediate left has been vacant last round and this. Player has been a now-show and that gives us at the rail a clear view of the table.

I can't distinguish the individual cards on flop, just the suit color (seen only one rail dude with binoculars so far). But you can see the size of pots and who's taking them.

Mostly guys just buying small pots here and there. What Jack has been doing most of the day. He ordered a water and leaned back, I then caught a view of his stack---it was still around 30k

I watched 30 mins of play last round, and 30 mins this. More boring than even playing the game, which is quite an accomplishment! Ain't it great to have such a committed poker fan on the scene to send in reports? :142smilie

A big TV screen, next to the one with clock countdown to next break (12:45 am PST), they were showing ESPN gameday and I was glancing at that alot.

assorted notes

assorted notes

No-shows:

at table 149 right next to rail a dude left $7.5k stack there 7 hours ago. He hasn't been seen since. He gets dealt to every hand, and players bet his blinds for him. Down to 3k now.

table next to that some entertaining short+stout dude I saw go all in 4pm. He then stood up, smiling and started singing show tunes! Took some requests! He is still at the table, one of chip leaders now.

I checked wireless networks on pokerstars table, abandoned for the night, just outside tournament area. There were several, all secured or password required except one called "ESPN edit" which I decided probably not a good idea to try and piggyback into.

There was big poster there with great pic of Stu Unger advertizing Uluis Alberts photographs for sale. While I sat there looking at it an old Rio floor executive stopped by and said that it was one of the best pics ever of Stewey. Guy said he delt to Stewey when he first arrived in town.

"I got the scars and marks on my arms still to prove I delt to that vicious a##hole bastard....but he was nice enough away from the table."

"He started playing like an idiot, but learned super fast. He played it like chess--figured out the hand, then the players. It looks like he's distracted in those photos, but he is sizing up all the players thru the corner of his eye constantly."

"One time we had a dealer tournament at Tahoe and we had the players deal some hands and after Stewey dealt two, I could tell he knew his way around a deck of cards--how to deal seconds, bottom of deck and so on"

then another old dude strolled by and they knew each other and then reminisced how much Unger would lose playing golf with Brunson and such.

gotta run and get a drink, then try to catch more exciting poker action!

Yeah whatever Bobby, my best friend had a death in the family.

Shit hsppens, Im not happy about it but had to takr him out.

Im snokkered and will let you know what up with Jackson tomorrow.

Had a good long talk with him tonight, and he was in a great frame of mind..

Nolan Dalla hauled ESPN over to interview Jack about having his Dad with him. He said he won a pot while the camera was on him :com: Should be on TV!!

He also lost a big pot with AQ suited be4 break, lost 3,200!! AQ seems to be his black cat hand....He has a weirdo at his table, guy made i 600 under the gun with 10-8 and flop came 8-9-10!! Jackson had called with AJ suited, and turned a st8! Guy melted off like 2,500 after that..

C you tomotrrw boys!

update: not much

update: not much

15 mins left in this session, ends 305 am PST--and that's it for the day.

Jack got moved a few minutes I wasn't looking and took me 20 mins to find him among the 900 left.

He's still in seat 9, now table 9. Right next to the rail, perfect viewing now!

his stack slowly getting chipped away by ante and blinds, but just before I left he won two small pots in a row!

the shortstack dude at his table went all in and survived.

only other excitement was one big pot (about $50k), won by seat #3 fellow..

I got laptop set up now on abandoned WSOP credit card sales table, right next to entrance to Tournament using that "ESPN edit" wifi network.

UPDATE: Just caught Jack exiting tourney. He got chipped away some more and will start Tues with $14.5. Still, that's more than double last year's second day start.

GOOD LUCK Tues Jack! I got appt and won't be here, but I'm sure my good luck will! :thumb:
