Nick was lucky if he got Out on time after the 12 hour shift too. :0008

My mom retired after 40 years as a nurse, the medical field "use" to be different as well. I understand that by reducing staff the hospital saves on benefits and costs. How effective are you working a double shift as opposed to an 8 hour shift?

Retail is not life or death BTW

I'm standing here in Walmart .. Getting a 60 "
VIZIO LED.. They got 36 and I'm #18 in line

BBBOOOMMMM

way to go,dude.....i don`t have the gumption to swap elbows with the sale-getters.....but i i saw 60 inch vizio tv`s(with internet apps and all the bells and whistles) advertised on tv at around $300 off....i`m talking roughly $700 bucks!....enjoy that tv...you wanted it and were willing to go out and get it...:toast:

people don`t understand that competitive retailers who bank largely on holiday sales to meet yearly goals are just giving consumers what they want...... it`s crazy(in this shitty economy)to blame retailers for competing for scarce dollars...times are hard...

betone...kudos to your kid for having a work ethic and being willing to do the things that aren`t always what he might want to do to keep getting a paycheck...much repect to the young man !....

This, now this is a really good thread. Has a little bit of everything. We need to tack this to the top so it doesn't slide down. :popcorn2

i totally understand,brother....from my own experience, parents are affected more by the lack of traditional family time than the kids....kids just seem to slough it off...they roll with it...

i think it would be disappointing if you didn`t feel the way you do and he didn`t deal with it as he did....speaks highly of you both...:toast:

Not sure staff is reduced? I do fine with 12 hour shifts. A true double shift (16 hours) is a little sketchy. I have done it, but I don't like it.

In the old days......shifts were 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm & 11pm-7am. If your working 12 hrs then 1 entire shift has been eliminated? :0008

I know not everyone here is old enough to remember, but there was actually a time when EVERY business was closed on holidays.

If you forgot to gas up your car, or pick up milk, and it was Thanksgiving or Christmas, etc........You were shit outta luck!

.

I agree, it's like Las Vages everywhere now

Sucks betone

Hope you get to spend time with em over the weekend....

I totally understand that you were not bitching and by no means saying your son is ungrateful for the oppurtunity to have a good job....

How anyone can read a simple post like this, and make it out to be anything more then it is, well fuck it...

Betone likes being with his son on holidays....yesterday he couldn't....he was stressed because of it...

Great, who gives a fuck what days doctors or astronauts work, that doesn't change the fact that betone wanted to be around his son.....

Betone happy holidays man I know your son is very greatful for work, and in no way were you implying anything different....

So how much did you get this TV for ?

was the price slashed to the bone ?

688.00 + tax....

Took me a couple of hours, but its hanging above the fireplace.

Would have been easier, but I didn't label the wire inputs from the old tv:facepalm:

I hated 8 hour shifts when I worked them.

A shift is gone, but ur employees work 2 days less a week.

isn't the whole idea to ..

"do for a livin' what you would do for free."

I'm not implying that ANYONE is comlaining in this thread..

but if you nice young folks are going to learn anything from these types of conversations is should be the above quote.

with that..

take the time each and everyday from the birth of those who you raise or help in any way that the activities that we do to sustain a clean and comfortable living are not supposed to be WORK..

it should be something you do because it is a passion.

these passions enable one to fill it and every day with fun, laughter and for those who choose to help those with direr circumstances OR healthcare a chance to help and fulfill a need and a want ..

I hear the "work" bantered about like it's a bad thing..

Gezzzzzzzzzz..It cool as all get out to be productive in some manner each and every day..

Someday we all reach the point we are dead..aOR near death..

Enjoy the ride...nobody has confirmed that we get a do-over or a free pass to ride the ride again.

for the record..complain around me as we accomplish tasks and I send ya home for the day..

kinda let ya think about what is really important..
