I took her into the surgeon yesterday and he took an x-ray through the soft cast. He said it is not healing correctly and suggested surgery.

I should not be surprised but have been waiting all day for the Surgery Coordinator or whatever to get back to us with the date.

Well duh!
Of course its not healing correctly he left her in a soft cast.

But I suppose you make a lot more for surgery than you do putting on a few feet of fiberglass:facepalm:

Here is my question. I looked at it and I knew this was a really bad break. When the doctors asst' showed up all he did was set it and wrap it in this soft cast. Took x-rays and said everything was lined up right.

At the time, I asked wouldn't she need surgery to put it back together and he said somewhere down the line she might blah blah blah.

So we go to the doctor a few days later and he doesn't even x-ray it. He says he will x-ray the next visit which was a week later.

After a week and a half she has it x-rayed and he says it is not healing properly and he suggests putting a plate in.

My question, and I am a dummy but....why not do that right away when she broke it? Oh I think they said it was too swollen or something.

Lynne had surgery today. They put a plate and screws to hold things in place. Everything seems to have gone good.
