I really love Vegas but go there a few times a year so it is almost like home....

Setting Vegas aside, my favorite vacation place is basically a tie between Italy & Hawaii....

I don't really have a least favorite but was in Reno for 2 days & wasn't impressed....

I love taking my kids to Disney/Universal. The most important factor is going when there are no crowds. I agree it's fucking awful when it's crowded. Best time to go is the first couple weeks of December. Place is dead, Christmas stuff is up, weather usually perfect... warm enough for the water park. We got to see them filming the Disney Christmas special which included a brief concert by that blind italian dude. And get a place with separate bedrooms!

Where in Italy is your favorite, Al?
Our trip in 2014 was my first visit and we loved northern Italy and understand that Southern Italy is quite different than the north.
Reno sucks ass but when the bowling tournament is the almost yearly the last 15 years I can't avoid the place.
We fly in for the 36 hours it takes to bowl then head for Vegas the rest of the week...[emoji106]
Not that Vegas is any great shakes, IMO. But in early April you ain't golfing in Reno....:mj07:

Hey Mike....

My favorite city was Florence & my wife's was Venice....

I would really like to visit the southern coast of Italy on our next trip....

I lived in NYC for most of my life & sometimes I miss it's energy....

Imo, Vegas is the only place on the western side of the country that has similar energy....

I also like the variety of restaurants & shows that Vegas offers....

My favorite vacation spot is Amsterdam. Why? To many reasons to list but one is because no one in my family will go there with me. That makes my vacation super.

My least favorite spot is Vegas. When I am away on a vacation (my whole life is a vacation) I want nothing to do with gambling. Gambling is a 24/7 thing with me so on vacation i need a vacation from the gamble.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Hawaii

Hawaii

Honolulu...in the summer....

not many tourists, BEAUTIFUL weather..

Spent a month there in 2002, swam with turtles, snorkeled reefs, ate local dishes, (sure I dented the oceans Mahi population) pretty much relaxed the whole time with zero pressures....

Made a deal with a hotel 2 blocks from Waikiki, kitchenette, larger room with view....they actually charged $15 daily for parking...noticed local employee in ticket booth sweating, had no fan, bought good used one at thrift store for $10... result, free parking for rest of the stay.:0008

great trip.....

We loved Florence and Venice equally-- in Florence we stayed in a B and B that was in a 500 yr old building that was across the street from a home Dante lived in at one time. Amazing to see where the Renaissance had its beginnings and the artists and inventors that made it happen.
I need to go to Vegas with my wife and just eat for a week as its a foodie's delight these days. I'm there with the boys on a booze and gambling fueled blowout with some golf thrown in and that's fun, but it ain't enjoying the fine food and wine that can be found in town these days....

The days of consistent boozing & gambling with my friends are long gone for me....

I pretty much play video poker now with an occasional football wager thrown in when the circumstances warrant it....

As you said, the restaurant scene has changed dramatically over the years & I enjoy hitting the restaurants with the wife & friends whenever I can....

The boozing and gambling should be over for me, too, but once a year ain't gonna kill me...
Then again....:mj07:
