That would suck to be that scared all the time.

I completely agree - I'm one of those "crazy" people who think that the kind of energy you put out is the kind of energy you are going to attract - so I live with no fear and believe no harm will come to me... so far, so good...

But then again, I grew up in a house where we NEVER locked our doors - I mean, we went on two week vacations and didn't lock the doors. All of our cars were parked in the driveway with the keys in them. Never stolen, never robbed.

This is what I responded to

And I don't care what short people or pony tail think of my humor

again......

I wouldn't spend my life miserably in the path of a hurricane once or twice a year

just saying

You've become awfully chippy recently, my man.

Anyways, I don't live my life 'miserably' in the path of a hurricane once or twice a year. Can you possibly be serious?

The worst thing that could have happened to me with 'Ernesto' is that I might have missed a 5 day vacation to Costa Rica. Just terrible. It's a weak storm, but if it hit directly here, it could have affected flights. Hell, it still might, but doubtful.

With Charley in August 2004, Jack and I were in Vegas when that hit. Granted, my ex-girlfriend was not happy, but how was I to know it would hit near here when it was projected for Tampa?

Wilma last year knocked my power out for 5 days, so that sucked, but it's a small sacrifice for living here.

I was on leave from the Army over in Boca Raton with my parents when Andrew hit in 1992, but luckily it hit further south, sparing us.

Everything is great and there really isn't any 'misery' involved with living here, hurricanes or not.

I love Chicago, though. I grew up in a house on Lake Michigan in Indiana where you could see the Sears Tower across the lake and have spent many, many days and weeks in Chicago over the years, including for a wedding of a high school bud just a month ago. Great city!

2 loaded guns in house.

S&W .357 Lady Smith(wifes)
Taurus .38 Special (mine)
Also have 20 and 12 Gauge shot guns not loaded.

Both have Loaded guns in our Vehicles.

Taurus PT111 9mm 2-12rnd clips

I grew up with guns and hunting. I do not hunt anymore but have them for self defense. May need them if a hurricane blows threw or some catastophic happens and there is no authority. Also there has been over 100 murders in Jax this year. 80% of them have been black on black crime but you never know they happen all over town. Believe me you do not want to invade me or my wifes space whether that is our vehicles or our home.

Four loaded guns in the house.

.45 Sig sauer in truck.
.357 Magnum with hollow points living room area
12 gauge pump by the front door out of sight.
9 mm bedroom.

Fawk the closet it would take you 15 minutes to go get it.

My wife knows where all the guns are and how to use them. Best thing would be to get her to go with you shooting it at a range.

Do you wear the pants in the family ?

just wondering

Hitman,

No doubt. No offense meant to anybody who actually has a REASON to be worried.

For the others, I think it has more to do with machismo.

Glad you understand. No machismo, here, I can assure. Also, as you are too, we are in the hurricane belt. A loaded one or two would A) possibly help me save/protect my property and family during a huge disaster B) give me peace of mind even if it is never ussed.

I did too, but you have to know...times have changed.

You can't be naive enough to believe everyone should be going to bed at night leaving their doors unlocked....not a good idea!

I am sure you don't think that as you are obviously intelligent, I'm just saying...

Scott however takes it a little far the other way :scared

I Love guns and have 4 loaded as well. I won't mention one of them but I have a Ruger .45, Beretta .25, and a Glock 27 (40 cal). Right now, I live in downtown Nashville and I refuse to leave my house without one. Too many fuc kin idiots in this world! And yes, I live in a bad neighborhood. They found a dead body in an alley two blocks from my house. Someone got carjacked a few blocks from my house and killed last year and it was part of a gang initiation. The kid was 15 that shot the guy. Enough said!

I think it's a regional thing. Growing up in the NE, no one I knew had a gun, nor did my parents.

Going down south for school, most people I knew who had grown up down there did have them.

Here's my 2c on the topic. WTF do I need a gun for in my house? First off, the chances of someone breaking in are small. Second, most buglars of personal residences aren't going to be carrying a gun.

I feel like the chances of something bad happening from having a loaded weapon in the house far outweigh the good. Let's see...kids can get a hold of it and blow their heads off, or someone elses. Should someone break in and you don't hit them, they can possibly strip you of said gun and then shoot you. Especially since most residential buglaries are unarmed, as I mentioned.

To me, the chances of having to use it for protection are not enough to outweigh the risks. I can beat the shit out of someone with a bat if the need be.

Before I get attacked by the masses, I'll write my disclaimer: I'm not passing judgement on people who own guns and know it's their born right to do so. I simply gave some opinions since this was a pretty one-sided post thus far.

Totally agree. On all counts.
