Deputies investigate home invasion

SAN CARLOS PARK: The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a home invasion at 7363 Albany Road. It happened at 2:30 Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say two teens knocked on the door, put a gun in the homeowners face and robbed him. The suspects then took off with about $2,000 worth of cash and jewelry.

Both suspects are white men. One is 6-foot-1-inch tall, weighs about 160 pounds and has brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black tank top and silver shorts. The other suspect is 5-foot-6-inches tall with sandy blonde hair. He was last seen in a white tank top and has a reddish color tattoo on his right forearm.

The sheriff's office considers them armed and dangerous.

Residents in San Carlos Park reported seeing a sheriff's helicopter searching the area after the incident.

That's about 15 miles from me, but it's beside the point.

Using the above scenario, how do all your weapons placed around the house change the result? Or do you open your door with a gun in your hand? And if you do, don't you think you have a very good chance of getting killed?

Or maybe you just open the door and start shooting? Could be the fed-ex guy you kill, but at least you are 'protecting' the family.

At night I would probably not open the door, and when I do its just enough to look through and see who it is. I have the gun in my hand by my side.

kosar you are one of my favorite ppl on here.
Please tell me yu wouldn't fall asleep during a
home invasion. I wouldn't want to lose my good buddy.

I can see you trying to reason with the robbers maybe telling them you don't have any money or jewelry. That would really piss them off.

I have had a concealed weapons pistol permit in Georgia for over 25 years. I can tell you about one incident in my car where the gun saved me from a violent person . Not time now.

Another place where I never go without a gun is in the woods. My family hikes and fishs and it is dangerous from nuts out there and bear and whatever. I carry my .45 in a shoulder holster under a jacket and no one is the wiser.

It just makes me feel better knowing I got it
in the mountains.

The day that I feel a need to answer the door with a loaded gun is the day that I move far, far away.

I'm not 'anti-gun', as it were, but man...
...............................................

what you aint getting is that there is no where absolutely safe in America. Its a random luck of the draw.

Better to protect yourself and not have to move.

Scott,

It is highly likely your paranoia will get you first.

I mean a weapon is fine, but shit man! The dogs, the security system...a loaded sawed off by the door, a handgun in the living room, one in the truck...

Who are you Jason Bourne?

not sure who that jason guy is.

I am not paranoid. I don't worry much.

What you don't know is that I was a security consultant for wealthy clients for five years. I did their home security and fire alarms, kept their kids from being kidnapped, contracted and built them safe rooms in their homes, set up their travel, taught them to shoot if they wanted a gun, etc. Alot of times I was like a part of their family. They trusted me with their lives and they paid me very well.

Maybe not in Atlanta  but America give me a break
..................................................

In the past 30 years, homicides have nearly tripled, robberies and forcible rapes each are up over 500%, and aggravated assaults have increased more than 600%. According to the most recent National Crime Victimization Survey, nearly 37 million people have been injured by criminals in this country in the past 20 years. It is estimated that crime has cost America $19 billion since 1991.

Kosar...

Did you by any chance know the Murray's when you lived on Lake Michigan. They had about nine kids, the dad was a big commodity trader in the grains. I think they lived nearby.
