never owned a gun and most likely never will----have a 12 yr old at home besides the fact that the wife would have no part of having one----

I own several (read: more than a dozen) guns...and I keep them all at my house...and each and every one of them is loaded. What good is a gun if it's not loaded?

The handguns (other than the revolvers) are loaded, but not chambered...same with the shotguns and rifles. There is nothing better to scare off a burglar than to hear the sound of you shucking your 12 g. pump. ;)

I was raised around guns and taught to respect them.... While I don't have children, I wouldn't change my position one bit if I did. I was raised in a house full of guns and most of them were always loaded...and because I was taught to respect them and how to use them, my father never batted an eye when he'd see my brother and I headed out of the house with guns slung over our shoulders...beginning around age 9-10. Got to love those Southern boys, huh? :SIB

Alpharetta police have added more charges to an already lengthy list of accusations against a Roswell man accused in a series of home invasions early this month.

Police charged Gregory Miller, 19, with 17 new felony charges involving an Aug. 4 incident at the Lexington Farms apartments, police Sgt. Sean Wods said today.

In that incident, Miller allegedly forced a woman into her apartment and robbed several people inside. He is charged with four counts each of armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping, three counts of armed robbery and one count each of burglary and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Woods said police charged Miller in the case after residents of the apartment returned to Alpharetta after leaving the state because they were so afraid of Miller.

Miller was already being held without bond in the Fulton County jail on charges of armed robbery, aggravated sodomy, rape, kidnapping and firearms possession in an Aug. 10 home invasion and rape in the Hungtington Farms apartments.

He is also facing two felony counts in connection with an incident in Roswell, also on Aug. 10, in which he is accused of robbing a member of a cleaning crew and fondling her breast before releasing her.

He was charged with armed robbery and sexual battery in that case, Roswell police Sgt. James McGee said. Both counts are felonies.
.......................................................

These are all upscale areas in Georgia. Home invasions happen all the time here. Its crazy how
much this happens here.

Its just not safe to open your own front door anymore.

We have even had robbers wearing SWAT shirts.

If the cops have a warrant they will knock the door down anyway. Then you kinda know its them.

Does everybody on this site live under such dangerous conditions that they must have multiple loaded guns strategically placed around the house?

Just sayin'.

I was wondering the same thing - I am a single woman who lives alone in a big house...never felt threatened, but I have some mace, just in case

Seems like that would do the trick...without the mess...I'm not really into cleaning up blood and guts off the floor, unless it's a spider.

I really would never want to have to shoot anyone. But if they come into my house and I don't know them, and the dog doesn't get them first, its war.

Of course we have a security system, so plenty of notice there to call 911 and get the gun out.

Better to have a gun and not need one.

just sayin

I also keep a couple at the office.

...better safe than sorry.

Just sayin' ;)

Chad,

This might sound indelicate, but hopefully also empathetic. Lawyers generally have a little more reason to fear for their lives than the average Joe.

I'm not saying all you guys with arsenals in your house and car are looking to kill, or would want to, but unless you live in a very dangerous neighborhood, I fail to see a reason to have 4, 6, 12 loaded guns around the house or to be packing as you go to work for the day.

To me, that would be a miserable way to live.

Just sayin'.

I can understand a gun, maybe loaded(no kids) or maybe not, kept close by the bed, but it seems like a lot of these guys have huge weapon caches in their house. Not just vintage gun people or collectors, but locked, loaded and ready for Rambo to break in. That would suck to be that scared all the time.

I *guess* that's directed towards me.

Life is great in sunny Florida, my man. Hurricanes or not. :)

And, ummmm, those two things aren't exactly related.

I/O, you need to step it up a notch as you've been quite lame the last two nights. Now Haskell would submit that you've always been lame, but I would disagree with that. :nono:

This is what I responded to

And I don't care what short people or pony tail think of my humor

again......

I wouldn't spend my life miserably in the path of a hurricane once or twice a year
