Thanks for the update...good guesses, with some singers so interchangeable they could do some of the songs well.

Two from this list I'd really like to see paired up with a song -

Everytime You Go Away - David Archuleta
(This is one of my favorite smaltzy songs...Paul Young is a great singer, and I could see Archuleta nailing this one much like last week and bringing everyone to tears - especially Danny)

Every Breath You Take - David Cook
(I think his voice and mannerisms would be perfect for this song...I could see him as a kind of secondary Sting character...smooth, cool, and then really tearing up the power verse on that song.)

I guarantee you that if each did these songs as well as they would in my mind, they would be cemented as top 8 or so, at least. As much as I think Archuleta is a monster at this point, I could see him picking a song or two that could really expose the personality situation.

I think it's a risky night for Jason Castro...I think he is probably WAY more comfortable standing behind a guitar, and they have warned him he needs to sing without it soon. I like the guy, but he might be vulnerable if challenged.

BDB,

How do you 'short' Danny at WSEX? I am a novice at this.

Thanks.

BDB,

Thanks.

you can't short Danny, he has a zero sell price at wsex.

heres their explanation:

To calculate the amount of money you are required to have in your account to sell a sports future short, it is necessary to determine your maximum liability for each event (Pro Football Championship, Leading Rusher, Professional Baseball MVP, etc.). Each time you sell sports futures, your account will be credited with the amount determined by multiplying the number of contracts sold by the price at which they were sold. For 1-Pay events, identify the series you are short the most and multiply the number you are short by 100. This is the amount of your restricted cash.

contact them for more details or read about it on their website.

hope that helps.

Some more blatant attempts to get people to vote for who they want them to.

Ryan - "Does Chekizie deserve to go into the next round?"
Randy - "Yes he does"

C'mon, way to browbeat the audience.

And then Simon saying that Jason Castro was "brilliant". Whatever, I thought it was bottom 4 of the night.

my thoughts:

all the song spoilers were wrong except danny.

sorry....as if it really mattered.

archuleta was average at best. his act is getting on me already and its not even top 12.

props to chadman....good call on david cook being good tonight. he was great...he still has no chance of winning imo.....but he was really really good tonight.

danny was and is funny....my shares of him are worthless, but he's comical and in little danger of going home with vftw backing at least for a little bit.

i really only liked jason castro and david cook tonight.

guesses to go home jacuzzi and luke.

Checking in...I had to rerun three of the performances to make sure they were as good as I thought they were.

I can't really take credit for Cook being great tonight, as he did a different song than I had hoped. However, his performance tonight was again amazing, IMO. To take a slow Lionel Ritchie love song into a hard-edged rock ballad with serious charisma was unbelievably impressive to me. I think he will have to step out in the next two weeks from behind the guitar (like Castro did) and do something solid - and I think he can. The guitar seems to be such a big part of his act, tho...it helps him really be cool. Tough to know, I doubt he can keep up his performances of the last two weeks, but this guy is my favorite of all the contestants. Tonight, he was the best, after last week when he was either second or first, depending on your preference.

I thought - again - that Archuleta was really good. I thought the song was a good choice, I thought he nailed it, and the piano gave him another feather. I guess I like the kid a bit more than you, BDB. He is special, we'll see moving forward.

I didn't buy the Jason Castro song like the judges did. I thought it was kinda average, and he looked out of place without the guitar, to me.

I liked the effort Michael Johns effort tonight. He is very similar to Hutchens...and the INXS influence seems appropriate. He may continue to be tough - very polished, although not as good as my top two.

I think the men are far better than the women this year - at least the top guys. I see four strong men, two are top two quality (so far) and I only see a couple possible women being that level. Maybe tomorrow will change my mind. Looking forward to it.

Any hints on performances tonight? BDB? I don't care if they end up being correct, we know they don't...just curious.

from tmz at todays dress rehersal:

The worst performance was courtesy of Brooke White, though she looked the best. She sang a slowed-down, country version of "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar and it sucked. The best performance was Asia'h Epperson, who sang "I Want to Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston.

All the contestants were there and they have some kind of code, constantly referring to "shenanigans," which normally is a buzzword for hijinks but they were clearly referring to something specific.

Danny Noriega and Ramiele Malubay are definitely best friends. He was on the side making a half-a-heart sign with his hands and she would complete the heart. The two talked about going to the mall for food after rehearsal.

David Cook was making fun of David Archuleta, like a big bro ragging on li' bro. Cook was beaucoup arrogant during the rehearsal.

In order:

Amanda Overmyer -- Joan Jet "Hate Myself For Loving You"

Syesha Mercado -- Whitney Houston "Saving All My Love For You"

Kristy Lee Cook -- Journey "Faithfully"

Asia'h Epperson -- Whitney Houston "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

Kady Malloy -- Queen "Who Wants To Live Forever"

Carly Smithson -- Cyndi Lauper "I Drove All Night"

Brooke White -- Pat Benatar "Love Is A Battlefield"

Ramiele Malubay -- Phil Collins "Against All Odds"

GO A'SIA

Honestly, the only performance I thought was really good was Carly, again. She sure seems like another Kelly Clarkson to me, whether you like her(Clarkson) or not. Most of them were ok, but nothing at all special tonight.

The men are better than the women, still, IMO. Except for douchbag Luke, who will be gone after tomorrow.

agree with your assesment Chadman.

Carly was light years ahead of every other girl on stage, and I'm not even a fan of hers. She nailed that song.

Everyone else was kind of just okay.

I didn't think Amanda was great, but the judges gave her a blow job....

I think Kady Malloy and Syesha are going home with an outside shot of Brooke White going home.

Totally agree on Carly and Amanda ... didn't like Kady Malloy at all but I actually really did like Brooke ... actually, I think she was my favorite tonight and I hope she stays. I would prefer to see Kady and Amanda go even though I like looking at Kady and I love rock music. If not Amanda, then definitely Kristy Lee Cook.

DialIdol has the following look right now:

Luke and Kady are definites (any doubt on those, really?) to go home.

The other girls are all within 1.3% of each other, with Carly slightly on top. Scary for the rest, I would say.

Chikezie, Johns and Hernandez are all close to the same %, Hernandez the lowest, with the rest of them at least 2% higher.

Archuleta is nearly twice as high as anyone else.

Sold my shares of A'siah for 2. Lost $400 on her ordeal. Theres even a chance she goes home tonight. I really like her voice, but the more I hear her, the more I realize it just isn't strong. She's kinda cute, and I think she can sing, but I was dead wrong and she has zero chance of winning this thing. Too bad.

I think Kady Malloy goes home tonight for the girls and I also think A'sia or Syesha is the other one with an outside shot of Brooke.

As for the boys, I'm confident Luke is going home, while I think Chikeze is also going theres a shot either of the two admitted homos (I know theres probably more) going home.

bought 40 shares of Smithson at 14. She really impressed me last night.

Dont kid yourself....I think Archuletta is on the pole smoke bandwagon too.

At this point I am for anyone other than Archuletta or Carly. I actually like Cook alot - I think when its said and done the backlash kills Archuletta and Carly...not to mention yuou cant give AI to a foreigner - which knocks out the Aussie has been. WHo does thta leave that has any real talent?

I was a little upset with A'sia going, but at least I sold her pre-show. I knew Danny was worthless a few weeks back, but at least he was entertaining to me.

Luke and Kady were worthless anyway.

Chit, I guess I'm left rooting for Raniele and Carly unfortunately.

At least you have Joshuah on Big Brother 9 Sun, who represents the great state of Texas wearing UT gear every episode to root for. He's as flaming as Danny.....lol

this season is setting up for one big archuletta blow job and I can't stand it......No books are even offering last longers or elimination bets.....sux
