guess we have the same tastes. the mitch rapp series is probably my favorite series. he's just a badass. two books before was pretty poor, but this last one executive decision i think was great.....as well as the older ones with the cia mentor who dies in book 3 or 4.
as for baldacci, i loved his first 3 or 4 books. Simple truth is what got me back into reading after a long hiatus. he's gotten worse as he's gone on, but the camel club series is mildly entertaining imo. last man standing was one of the worst books i ever read.

You know I think they all start to fizzle after too much of a good thing they all start to fall into that "skeleton writing mentality" and basically every book is the same and, well you know the rest. Which is why most of your hardcore readers can't really stay with one author forever, see Stephen King, but I liked "Dirk Pitt" too and usually read all the Patterson novels and Sandford, Follett, etc... Mitch Rapp is definitely one of my fave characters of any of them though. Bad ass fake dude. I just kind of let one author lead me to the next by reading the book reviews.
Hope this helps,
