No wonder Silva doesn't have motivation to win, he has no win bonus. And no way Hughes should be making 100k to show. And last comment about salaries, love or hate Roy, he is a veteran and deserves more than $15k. He stood with the best striking HW for 15 minutes, he deserves double.

I'm sure it's in his contract about the win bonus. He probably doesn't get one because he gets a cut of the PPV buys. Of course I'm only guessing here but he is considered the p4p best(per Dana) so I'm pretty sure he would get ppv dollars.

Forgot to add that IMO it's pretty impressive that Silva still fought and one with his ribs in the shape they are in. I know my wife had a fractured rib and she could barely move around in bed at night. Just think if I would have started some ground and pound on her. :0002

i have had broken or brused ribs on about 4 occasions. I couldn't fight a three year old with them. He had to be shot up. No man could fight with those against an olympic caliber wrestler let alone a high School wrestler. Heck if u cough or sneeze it feels like someone shot u with a cannon.

Roy won that six figure contract. Dana has it spread over two years and six fights :SIB

I agree he had to be shot up for the fight but what about all of the training time? I don't care what anyone says that's impressive. 90+% of fighters would not have risked losing the belt if they had been in that spot but he did and I respect him for it.

i couldn`t agree more...roy stepped up to fight a guy,i`m pretty sure, that few want any part of...

and he fought with about as much heart as anybody i`ve ever seen fight....in boxing or mma...

they`ve made exceptions in their bonus format before....15 grand for that fight is a disgrace....,

What kind of irks me more is Dana giving out two submission of the night bonuses to Hughes and Silva. Two guys on the upper pay scale but when it comes to fight of the night he only gives one and i have to say i thought Roys fight was the fight of the night not Silva's. Why not give two fight of the night bonuses if u are gonna give out two submissions of the night? Its not like the Silva fight was much better? Sometimes i think there is a little favortism with these bonuses. I bet the Silva fight of the night bonuse was giving solely because of Sonnen (to give him more money from the peanuts he made hyping the fight) even tho the better fight was Roy's. Just my opinion. Anyhow every one knows Roy is making over 8 hundred thousand dollars a day with sponsors :SIB

fat guy like big country doesn`t have big time marketability...what dana fails to realize is that many mma fans aren`t 20-30 something fan boys that sniff the jock of the guy they want to be like or be "friends with"....

some people appreciate the effort a guy like nelson gives and personally,i`d be pretty happy to see him again...always gives a good effort...he knew how much he stood to gain with a win and pretty much looked ready to die to try and win....

i don`t know what else can be asked of a guy(except maybe that he get in primo fighting shape):SIB ....

i like it when spongy and i agree...:wtf: :toast:

Sponge, what is wrong with him saying something like that? He has 5 weeks to train vs someone with a very high level of BJJ. It's not like he's saying he won't be 100% because he isn't training hard. If anything you have to respect him for taking the fight on short notice.

I still think he has a great shot at winning. Frank has to win via sub and Mirko has lost only once to a sub and that was against Nog. He's not the easiest guy to take down. If he will let his kicks go then I think he has a shot. I actually think this fight is good for him, he will have no worries about Mir's striking. I'm willing to be Mir is a little gun shy after the bombs he took from Carwin.

Cro Cop has not trained hard in years so how is this any different than any other fight for him other than to say I only have 5 weeks not to train as opposed to the normal 12+ weeks not to get ready.

Lay it just sounds like his heart isn't into the fight game anymore like a lot of people have suspected the last two years. Heck he even hinted retirement after the Barry fight a fight he won. Hey he might be training his ass off and this is a smoke screen but i doubt it. Lay i know u like Crocop in this fight and im a big believer that styles make fights but they don't if one guy's heart just isn't in the game anymore. Then again we are talking about Mir who u don't know what type of fight he wants to fight. Maybe Mir will fight at Crocop strength's like he did with Carwin. To me this has all the signs of Crocops last fight and out of anyone i supported him a little more than others in this so called washed up phhase of his. I thought he did a decent job in the Santos fight when others thought he would lose in 30 seconds. His last three wins were against a guy he poked in the eye, a total scrub were it seemed like he didn't want to hurt him and a total clown in Barry who was mesmerized by the moment.
I got to watch what i say to u tho Lay cause sometimes i still can't get over how u kept telling me Showgun was this great fighter and i use to think u were nuts and now im a huge fan of Showguns and think he is one if not thee toughest guy i ever saw fight. I think i was the first guy who said Pulver was washed up and i know i was the first guy who said Irving and Quarry (sitting stunned watching guys here and other joints still betting these two)were washed up but wow was i ever wrong about Showgun. I have hung on longer than most guys who say Crocop is washed up but i think it is time to pack the farmers bags. His heart to me just isn't in it anymore. we shall see.

If he really did that with ribs that bad than Sonnen might be in for a rude awakening come rematch time. These fighters ya never know what to believe. I remember Tito's second fight with Forrest how he bragged how healthy he was for the first time in a long time he was 100 percent. Of course after the fight it was back to making all kinds of claims on how he wasn't 100 percent. Unfortunately the second part was the true statement.

I think he's probably washed up as well but we're talking gambling and odds here not straight up bets. I may end up liking Mir depending on the odds but I have a feeling Mir will be enough of a fav that I'll take a shot on Mirko. Maybe it's because I've never been a big believer in Mir.

I think the main problem with Mirko is that his biggest strength as a HW use to be his speed. His striking was so much quicker than other HWs that it made up for the size difference but we all know that quickness is one of the things to leave us first as we age. In his last few fights he's looked like he didn't want to let his strikes go and IMO it's because his reaction is not what it was and that GG KO still haunts him. BUT, Mir isn't the striker that GG, Barry, or JDS are. Hopefully Mir will think he can do to Mirko what he did to Nog.

Damnitt, that came out without me seeing it and moved within a matter of hours.

Opened Mir -280 +200 now is -200 +160

That's a quick move but at 160 I think I'll still be on Mirko small. I was hoping to get around 185

per best fight odds, Mir is -140. Guys, don't look to far into this but that is a gift. Cro Cop was one of my favorite fighters but he no longer has it. The one and only issue I have with this fight is that Mir has nothing to gain but a lot to lose. I havent seen him in awhile but I imagine he will be ready for this fight and think he can win by KO or Sub, which ever he chooses. Maybe I am alone on this but I see no reason for Cro Cop to win.
