MadJack,
I have lived on the east coast (NY,Ga,Fla) and on the west coast (San Diego). I lived
in San Diego from 1974 to 1989. It was great,
but definitely not perfect. Part of the problem is how expensive it is to live there.
And I am not talking about the incredibly high taxes, energy, gasoline, rent, or food.
If you want to buy a new tract house in a descent area(non beach)your talking about $450,000.00 and UP. You better have a very large downpayment.
These are the reasons that I moved to Las Vegas 12 years ago. It has problems, but I wouldnt live anywhere else. You get addicted to the dry air all year round. Yes it is very hot in the summer, but when you live there you stay in air conditioning. My girlfriend and I bought a condo (2 bedroom/2bath) in a great yupee area. We payed 60,000.00, and with a 10,000.00 down, are payments are $420.00 a month.
But by far the best thing about the Las Vegas Area is the Sports Books. During football season, on Sun, I go to a local casino (Texas) and they have all 10 early games on at once. Its not easy, it takes practice. I have done great watching the games and betting HALFTIMES. The same is true for some college football, college baskets, and NBA.
The only problem is ONLY BET SPORTS. Stay away from the tables and especially slots--you will lose.
After 12 years I cant imagine living anywhere else.
