Well, after much deliberation I have decided to skip this week. :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:
FRIDAY PICKS
potentially huge week with lot's going on.
Luis Melendez (+140) - large + I have taken a good long look at this one, and the more I look, the more I like Melendez. This is a man vs. boy scenario. Sometimes a fighter gains respect and improves through losses, which is the case with Melendez. He is a hard man. He ended the career, and sorry to say, damn near killed Z.Gorres. He came within a whisker of dethroning F.Montiel, who was knocked down heavy and very uncomfortable all night with Melendez's tenacity. I watched this fight again, and Melendez is strong, awkward, and unyielding...a handful for anyone.
This Ruiz kid is just that, a kid. He is just 20 years old and skinny. He may have some potential, but has not yet found his 'man-strength', and at this point looks to be one of those Mexican prospects that is being moved to quickly. Ruiz has beaten NO ONE of note, and indeed has lost when he stepped up. One of his two losses was by KO, the other was against a 26-39 fighter.
Ruiz is not ready for the likes of Melendez. The fights against Montiel and Gorres will have prepared Melendez well, who will find the going much easier here. Melendez by brutal KO is my prediction.
Eloy Perez (+160) - medium This looks to be a very evenly matched fight. I think Perez has more of an upside though. I watched some film of his recent fights and he looks to be very fluid. His last 2 wins were very impressive. From what I hear he has been showing great improvement in the gym. Rodela, although game, seems to scrape by no matter who he fights - 3 recent split decison wins in a row. Rodela is much taller, and has fought a slightly higher standard of opp., but I think Perez is the class and will surprise here.
Avalos-Nieves UNDER 8.5 (+120) - med./small Nieves has got skills, and Avalos, although young and strong, is still a work in progress. There is something electrifying about him though. Nieves has been down numerous times against lesser hitters than Avalos. I think Nieves was specifically chosen because of this, and at some point, probably down on points, Avalos will catch him for the KO.
Good luck madmen!!!! Let's get'em
More Saturday picks to come!
