For those that remember Lazarte's title winning fight against Tamara, it was considered a major upset considering Tamara opted to take what he thought was to be the easier defense against Lazarte. The fight was close, but I saw it 115-113 Lazarte's way, with a few rounds that could've gone either way. I wouldn't go as far as calling it a robbery. What's got me curious about tomorrow's defense against Archie Solis, is that there is only one judge listed at boxrec. No doubt the Argentinian will enjoy a homecooking, but anyone else think it odd that there's only one judge?
Doesn't surprise me at all - they love that little bastard in Argentina and they make it nearly impossible for opponents to win there.
Lazarte has a ton of DQs on his record and with good reason.
The fight with Tamara was nothing more than a grappling match. That little bastard punched low, punched behind the head, tangled, grabbed, tripped, pushed, and wrestled his way to a world title. It was 100% Tamara's fault for allowing it all to go down and showing no urgency to keep the title.
The reality is this guy Lazarte did very little "boxing" to win the belt. I bet on Tamara that night - I knew I was fuked 3 minutes in.
Lazarte has almost no technique or skill, but a lot of passion and support. I think the line is set appropriately for this match. Solis is more skilled, but its a tough venue to win. Very tough. And both fighters are old by ring standards. Lots of bouts.
