Looks like he pulled a Cotto. And I don't think that kind of act bodes well for his state of mind.

What is the the appeal of tats?

To me it just seems narcissistic and self absorbed. No one gives a shit about what a bunch of blurry colors and words mean to the tattooee yet they get them with the idea of "showing who they are" in mind.

TATTOOS ARE THE NEW BLACK

when i was younger, i wanted some, remember kimo he looked badass

but EVERYONE HAS THEM NOW, im sure gardenweasel he has butterfly tat on his butt

im glad i never got any

what the fuck is with women with tattoos on the BACK OF THEIR NECK?? it looks like a dirt stain

Man all I'm reading is people doubting Haye, but someone with money believes in him obviously....line has moved from 500 to almost 800

I am rooting for Haye....and we all should...I hate Ruiz

It sure is. Remember when only servicemen, bikers or hardened criminals had them. And all were Caucasoids.

Whoever invents a machine that removes tats easily and effectively will make a fortune when people get older and realize how ridiculous they look.

This is HILARIOUS

No Hopkins-Jones rebroadcast

"Golden Boy Promotions has announced that Saturday?s Bernard Hopkins vs. Roy Jones Jr. pay-per-view telecast will only be available on pay-per-view and will not be shown on a delayed broadcast by HBO the following week, as is commonly the case. The company also announced that the $49.95 pay-per-view telecast will be aggressively monitored on the internet and any piracy and/or infringements will be legally dealt with in a swift and immediate manner. The main event is scheduled to begin live immediately following the college basketball semi-finals."

What a pathetic and desperate press release. So we can gather from this that:

1. Golden Boy is tracking the PPVs buys and, not surprisingly, they are very low

2. They are trying to remind people this is the only chance to catch this masterpiece - NO REPLAY!
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

3. Don't steal it or we will arrest you

4. It's on after basketball, so you don't have to miss anything...you can see both !

Golden Boy is such a disgrace - they just don't get it. As a fan, I read this press release and I am more offended by the language, than tempted to buy it. They come across as con artists.

Instead of stupid ass press releases like this, they should work harder on the production and promotion of the broadcast - I watched the countdown show Fox Sports is running this week (the 24/7 equivalent) and it was trash - complete trash. It looked like it had been edited together by an 8 year old in grades school. The footage was all old, the interviews were poorly lit and the audio was horrible. It certainly doesn't convince anyone this is a worthwhile, "can't miss" event.

Get a clue Golden Boy. How many years has Oscar and Schaefer been doing this now? It's just embarrassing.

I know, what a ridiculous event. Do you think they will get 10,000 buys?

This is a Versus card at best. Although I'm sure the usual internet pirates will have it going.

Just checking out footage on this George Groves, and good lord !
He looks a beast.

Kid can punch with both hands and fights with furious intent.
I know this is only his 9th pro fight, but I imagine he can take the British strap from Adamu this weekend.

And let's keep it real - Adamu did not beat Dilks.
Anyone who saw that fight knows Adamu should have been the CLEAR loser.

I have such a disdain for the way Golden Boy has done business, I really hope it does not cross 10,000. But these old farts are big names, I'm sure it does a couple hundred thousand (unfortunately).

I heard rumors from a few that even Oscar and Schaefer didn't want to go through with it after Roy got starched in Australia, but Hopkins insisted. He basically just bullied them into making it.

Hopkins is an all-time great, but I will never forgive him for this one. A true disgrace.

He owes about $500K to the IRS and about the same on the note on his house. When he sells all his worldly possessions that should knock out a cool 8 grand from the IRS bill.

Imagine if it back fired and bit him in the ass?

That is very doubtful, though. Jones has no legs and will spend a lot of time on the ropes.

I have a feeling Tommy's "Battle" with the IRS will be reminiscent of his other big battle, on tax day, 1985.

Weekend picks

Weekend picks

Hey guy's!!

I've got E.Lara (-800) straight up for what I could. I considered -800 a gift.

I've also got Lara in progressive parlays with:
G.Groves who I also consider very safe...then
D.Rodriguez
B.Hopkins

and
I.Sillakh in that order. I think all of these guys are 'safe' parlayables.

-Rodriguez I consider a notch above Arnoutis, who seems to be slipping. Delvin has had some tough breaks, but I think he gets it right here.

-With Hopkins, I just don't see him losing to a badlly faded Jones Jr. He's got enough in the tank to secure a decision here.

If Lara and Groves come thru I'm okay. With Rodriguez I'm good...the others great.

also...

John Ruiz (+475) medium Hard to watch sometimes, Ruiz is also hard to beat. Romi said he has the 'mugging' style to give Haye problems, and I think this is exactly right. I'm just not sold on Haye at heavy yet. If he beats Ruiz in impressive fashion, I will give him his due. Durablility and chin questions could come into play here. I don't think Haye's people would have chosen this fight. I say Ruiz has a very legitimate chance of making this ugly and wearing down Haye for a big upset win!

Good luck madmen!!!

Ruiz is a solid guy and I've given it some thought, and will probably give it more, but Ruiz has never faced anything quite as dynamic and explosive as Haye.

Brutal tank David Tua notwithstanding, everyone else was either somewhat plodding and methodical - Golota, Holy, Rahman et al or smaller, slick and quicker. See Jones and Toney.

Ruiz was wobbled badly by Jones who wouldn't follow up. Golota dropped Ruiz cleanly and then not so cleanly.

Tony Tucker made Ruiz do a dance. If Haye is right, he will land a clean, fast bomb on him, it might do the trick or set up the coupe de grace.

Haye is the only one, so far, to make the the 8th wonder of the world do the jitterbug.

Anyway, just food for thought. We'll see what Haye looks like at the weigh in. I've been a Jawwny fan, unlike most, probably because I know him a bit from his early days but he may have a bad style in front of him. Compelling fight.

Know Stoney , too. What a nut job. He's caused some hilarious ruckuses on some small cards over the years, too.

Groves-BIG... NEED this one. A little concern being a bit green as a pro but I like his amateur pedigree and Adamu is on the slide. Molina several mnths back and "Tyson" a few weeks ago were HUGELY disappointing young prospects. Adamu apparently has what it takes but the later rds will be very interesting here. I just want the guy to win a dec and will be more than happy with that. :mj09: :mj09: :mj09:

Black Russian-Would have gone huge on this at the opening odds but it moved quickly.

Olus-med...he's the class here and SHOULD win. Would be a fairly big upset if he lost IMO.

Parlay of Black Russian and Juarez. Juarez usually does just enough to lose in the big fights against the best fighters. Litz was never in the class and he's on the slide. The guy can barely talk and he's still rather young. I'll be pretty shocked if he put it together and beat the likes of Juarez. I think Rocky in about 5-6 rds.

Good luck jackers!
