i would like to hit valero, katsidis and escobedo ITD

I hope the line for Escobedo is low because I have seen the guy fight in Sacramento, CA and he is decent prospect. Hernandez is a step up in class for him that he hasn't seen yet, but I think he can handle it. Remember, Hernandez isn't too technical or fast and at 38 he is getting a little long in the tooth to win fights on sheer pressure and energy. Also, Hernandez retired in 2006 after the Kevin Kelly fight, so Escobedo might be taking this fight at just the right time to pull off the victory.

Hi fella's

Hi fella's

Long time, no post

Glad to see this board is running active and lot's of strong help.

I went -210 on Pianeta to win.
Francesco Pianeta (18-0) vs. Albert Sosnowski (44-2)

I am attending the PPV card in Austin this weekend.

Escobedo and Katsidis seem like winners, but i'm sure they will be favored.

I was surprised to see Sosnowski beat Danny Williams in England. Sos looked like a complete piece of crap against Zuri Lawrence.

Seems like a good play on Pianeta. I want to watch a little bit of him on video before jumping.

I parlayed Pianeta to get -180 odds, then noticed he was -200 at betphoenix, so I put a little more on him straight. Good to see you posting Spread

EDIT: Back down to -210 at 5dimes

per fightnews:

Zolani Marali (19-2) vs. Gamaliel Diaz (23-2)
in South Africa Thursday Night
for the vacant IBO junior lightweight belt

http://www.fightnews.com/?p=7848#more-7848

I wonder if they'll give us odds on that one? If Marali is the fave, as the article suggests, then Diaz could be a very live dog.

I've never seen Marali, but at 31 he's a bit old by super feather standards, and Diaz is three years younger. Marali also has a KO loss to Mashaba, whose ordinary skills were exposed when Cristobal Cruz outboxed him. Meanwhile, Diaz has decent skills, and the only fighters who have beaten him in the last eight years are world class (Guerrero, Linares, and Soto). I didn't see the Soto fight, but Diaz had some good moments before getting KO'd against Linares and Guerrero (and he had scored the SD win in his first fight against Guerrero). Diaz obviously has problems when he steps up in class, but I think he can handle a second-tier guy like Marali.

We should should definitely keep an eye out for this one, A2C.

You did awesome last weekend, bro! Congrats !
Montiel under and Chambers - you're also one of these solid guys who is smart with the odds (and selective with the fights played).
2 plays for big profit. Well done.

Hearns killed me, but I am back at it this week. And I like what I see on the calendar. Odds hopefully tomorrow.

:box2:

P.S. I have seen Marali, and I thought he got robbed against Billy Dib. But Dib is crap - Diaz is better than Dib.

Thanks, Ghost! Sorry about that Hearns play, but we all end up paying for hard lessons at some point. The only time you can really get mad at yourself is when you don't learn from a previous lesson. Paul Williams' loss to Quintana last year killed some chalky parlays of mine and ruined a weekend. I've been trying to avoid the multi-leg parlay ever since.

My big wager this week is on Bradley. He's solid all around. Doesnt do anything exceptionally well but he's not lacking in any dept...speed, pop, defense, ability, ring generalship. Holt has some very good skills but he tends to fight scared and IMO he's chinny. I thought he was there to be taken by D Hop but Hop didn't want it enough. Holt can be dangerous, like a tiger backed into a corner but I think Bradley is fully aware. I don't think he'll get caught like torres did. Torres had Holt all but gone before getting butted and drilled. I think Bradley will be too much and cruise to a ud or possibly get Holt out late. for me I liked the -150 odds.

I like katsidas over chavez but the line has moved to -380...to wide for a guy that cuts and gets hit too much. I do think Kat has the chance of possibly getting the aging chavez out of there. I might make a small play on Kat ITD if the prop comes up.

Wish I knew more about Pinanetai. Sis sucks but he was able to turn back Danny Williams. He claims he'll bury him in deep waters. Pinaneta is a big dude but has yet to be tested. Anybody have info on Sis/williams before williams was kod? Sis looked horrible against Lawrence.

I have a pending parlay on Raul Garcia that will close out that parlay. I also have the over in that one pending. Good luck.

Romi,

I like Katsidis in this fight, too, but the line is way out of wack. I actually thought it would be a lot closer.

I have a dvd of Danny Williams vs. Albert Sosnowski. I will watch it tonight and report back.
I did watch Pianeta vs. Marrone - a two round KO. It was hard to tell much from it. He did hurt Marrone, and the German ref stepped in a tad early. But Marrone is horrendous. I'd have to see more of Pianeta to really judge.

I will be curious to see what the over-under is for the Valero fight.

I don't see any reason we shouldn't hit our R. Garcia bets. He has already beaten Barrera quite clearly once.

I was looking up my notes on Sosnowski-Williams. Sosnowski fought with a lot of confidence and at one point he even gestured to Danny to bring it on after getting hit by a heavy shot. I had Danny up by one point after seven rounds in a back-and-forth fight but Danny just "went" when he got caught by a flush shot in the 8th. I was very surprised Sosnowski fought as well as he did that night, because Zuri Lawrence was slapping him around so much that I wondered if Zuri might even have stopped him in a 10-round or 12-round fight. Yet Sos looked a different guy against Williams. A "styles make fights thing" maybe?

Appreciate the feedback Graham. At first glance I was going to wager Pinaneta but he's still unproven and the Pole appears to be full of confidence. I know a few that lost bad on the Williams fight due to Sisnoski looking horrible against Zuri. Confidence can carry fighters to high places when they have it.

Torres got "upper-butted" and got knocked silly. Was basically out on his feet, then Holt finished the job. I was there at P.Hollywood that nite. It totally sucked what happened to Torres. I hope Bradley administers poetic justice.

I just watched Danny Williams vs. Sosnowski.
Graham is correct - Sosnowski fought with much confidence on the road in England.

He worked behind a stiff left jab and banged to the body of Williams consistently. He is sloppy at times, but showed good heart. Sosnowski is limited and very hittable - Williams smacked him good a few, but Sos always came back aggressively - finally finished Williams in the 8th with a big flurry.
The punch that Sos dropped Williams with in the 8th was an absolutely MASSIVE left hook. Williams got up, but it only went 30 more seconds. The left hook is Sos' best punch, but he over-commits to land it sometimes.

Against a tricky vet like Zuri Lawrence, Sos was useless, but he is a brave fighter (if a bit slow and plodding). He won't go easy.

The funny thing is, this Pianeta cat is VERY plodding as well. I am beginning to think this may not be an easy fight for the German.

Pianeta has one definite advantage - hand speed. Maybe this will be enough. But in the two rounds I saw with Marrone, Pianeta was no trickster. He allowed Marrone to bang him to the body good, and got caught a few times to the head. He did catch Marrone with a good flurry in the 2nd to end it. But I think Sosnowski is a bit smarter and tougher than Marrone.

I favor Pianeta only slightly - I get the feeling this will be a KO either way.
I might play Sos - not sure yet.
Of course, if it somehow goes 12 (this is for the EBU heavyweight title - whatever that it), they will give it to the German.

One last note: I did notice that Williams stunned Sos with a few body shots, and if Pianeta invests time there it might pay off. But Pianeta looks pretty passive in there.

Thanx Ghost. I made bet on italian earlier this week based on boxrec and because I thought line would go down. Now, I'm gonna hedge it a little bit.
