McEwan v. Vera

McEwan v. Vera

Craig McEwan, trained by Freddie Roach, has looked pretty good on the two times I have watched him on TV. Brain Vera is his best opponent to date but I see McEwan winning here with handspeed and combinations. Vera is a tough guy with a decent chin, but he can be outboxed and does take a lot of punches. I have not seen any lines yet, but i will probably take McEwan to win by UD if the line isn't to high. The over here will also be considered because i see this one going at least 8 rounds.

Friday night?s main event at the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas is in jeopardy. Brian Mihtar, who was scheduled to fight Ishe Smith, has pulled out due to dehydration. Stay tuned . . . .

Aaron Williams over Hernandez +180 - Medium

I think if A-Will fights up to his potential, he is going to punch the Cuban right through the canvas

It's only 8 rounds in Germany, and they will do everything they can to get Hernandez a decision
but I think the American can do this

MEDIUM for me on Williams as well

Awesome Aaron Wiliams is a very fast puncher that throws good combinations with power. Yoan Pablo Hernandez has a good amatuer background and decent power. Neither guy can recover very well from a punch, so I am taking speed to kill in this one. It should be a good fight for the fans. i just hope the refree doesn't pick Yoan Pablo Hernandez up of the ground like he did in the Wayne Braithwaite fight. That was unbeliveable in the third round the ref helps the fighter up from a knock down???

Tarver is a bit of a blowhard. He does look in shape, though. Still, Dawson wins again, ,most likely by decision. Love to the him KO Milk Dud, though.

Nothing would please me more than to see Milkdud starched....Never has a guy gotten so far with his loud mouth and one big punch.

I'll have to 3rd that. In general, I don't like to talk sht about fighters but I never liked that prick. It would be priceless for Dawson to come out and say at the start "what's your excuse going to be this time Anthony" and then proceed to dish out a beating :mj07:

What's the scoop on the Scot? Is he solid or hype? I've never seen McEwan fight. His KO ratio looks rather inflated. I have the over on this -175 because Vera has been in with tough comp. Kirkland beat on him for several rds and the guy has a beard. He's also big, strong, but rather slow and plodding. Any info would be appreciated. Like Matt said earlier, I expect a dec win for the Scot. I hope we don't see another Andy Lee debacle.

Weepaul, who the hell said you you take a month off??? We need info on this guy!

Has anyone seen Beibut Shumenov fight? And if so, what is your take?

I know he shut out faded Montell griffin and he beat Epifanio Mendoza in his last outing in the States. One judge actually had it 97-93 for Shu. Berrio can seriously crack and i don't think he's shot. He was giving Bute some trouble until he was given the hook in the 11th round.:00x32

I can't find footage of this guy Shumenov anywhere. I have searched and searched. He comes with quite the reputation though.

I do notice, though, that the fight is at 175. This, I think, is a significant disadvantage for Berrio.

interesting opinion from UBR:
http://www.ultimateboxingresults.com/boxing_reports/default.asp

Match: Beibut Shumenov v Alejandro Berrio
Date: 09-05-2009
Weight: Light Heavyweight
Venue: Stadium Khadjimukan, Chimkent, Kazakhstan
Prediction: Berrio mid round stoppage

Shumenov seems insistent on taking the shortest possible route to a world title, he has stepped himself quickly up in class and already has a string of big named opponents, this however should be his toughest test to date. Berrio who is a former super middleweight title challenger has upset a number of opponents who have over looked him including previously unbeaten Robert Stieglitz and Yusaf Mack. He is a knockout or be knocked out type of fighter and is not scared of taking a few to get his own big shots in. There has been rumours that Shumenov?s people have been handing out money for opponents to not perform to the best of their ability?s I think unless this has happened here Shumenov may be biting off a little more than he can chew.

I'm not so sure about that. Berrio was at 171 in 2004. He's a lanky guy and at 32 years old the 175 class may actually be good for Berrio.

It's seems like all the great press I've read on Shu has come from his people and it's basically the same recycled stuff - over and over. :jerkit: :mj07:

Berrio out, Mitchell in

Exciting light heavyweight contender Beibut Shumenov (7-0, 5 KOs) was to fight former world champion Alejandro Berrio (28-5, 27 KOs) this Saturday in his Shumenov?s country of Kazakhstan. Berrio is out now and former world champion Byron Mitchell (27-4-1, 20 KOs) will step in. The bout is still scheduled for 12 rounds and for the vacant International Boxing Association light heavyweight title,WBO Asia Pacific light heavyweight title, WBC Asian Boxing Council light heavyweight title, and interim PABA light heavyweight title. The bout will take place at the Stadium Khadjimukan in Chimkent, Kazakhstan.

Damnit it all to hell.....
