Any ideas why is Jean Marc Monrose favorite against Steve Herelius tomorrow in France?

Herelius has better record, is bigger and also has beaten Monrose in May.

I'm not touching it, there is some catch I'm sure ...

Ortiz chin is not granite but I think Maidana's punching power is overated.
He is made to order for Ortiz and I expect a blow out. This is not powder puff punching Kotelnik hitting him this time.

Good luck.

We see this fight the same way, Paulie.
I watched Kotelnik vs. Maidana last night.
Kotelnik is a very light puncher, and he shook Maidana hard a few times.
Maidana is pretty damn sloppy in there.
I expect a blow out as well.
Just my take.

I've certainly been wrong before. But, to me, Ortiz looks like the MUCH stronger guy. Ortiz has been blowing out decent competition, and I expect this to be his 9th straight knockout.

Yes, matt, I agree with you. Under looks good here in my opinion.

Two questions:

1. Does anyone have official information (in the form of a link, perhaps) about the start time of the Jimenez fight tonight. I wanted Bodog to push its post time back to 11:30 pm ET, but they say their info indicates that it starts at 8pm ET.

2. What the hell is going on with the Adrian Hernandez - Sonny Boy Jaro fight? I've got money tied up in that for the next 60 days unless there's info that it's not happening in that time frame.

Thanks and GL to all this weekend!

1. The Jimenez fight definitely doesn't start till at least 11:30 ET, due to the TELEMUNDO tv time. Not sure how to prove it...maybe Telemundo has a TV listing on their website? I will check.

2. The Hernandez-Jaro fight definitely didn't happen. 5dimes refunded my play already. Other sites use that damn 60 day rule. Trust me, I know your pain. Jaro opted to take another fight instead. Still in Mexico, but this time July 25th against G. Segura. Probably a bigger payday for Jaro.

Thanks, Ghost! I'll send Bodog info about that new fight date, and that should prove that Hernandez won't fight Jaro in the next 60 days (if you can prove that the fight won't go off, they'll actually refund the money before the 60 days are up). Weird, though, as I thought the Jaro-Hernandez fight was supposed to be an eliminator to decide who ultimately fought Segura. Maybe I'm mixed up, though.

A2C, from Rafael's notebook today:
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/notebook?page=notebook/boxingjune26

? Top Rank has rounded out its July 25 "Latin Fury 10" pay-per-view card in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. Besides the main event of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.-Jason LeHoullier in a 10-round junior middleweight fight and Yuriorkis Gamboa defending his interim featherweight title against Whyber Garcia, there are two other bouts scheduled for the telecast: junior flyweight titlist Giovanni Segura against Sonny Boy Jaro and rising lightweight contender Urbano Antillon meets Miguel Acosta for a vacant interim lightweight title.

I still have a hefty amt on Kretch but I hedged a good amt of it. My cardinal rule that I stick by is NEVER wager anything you are not willing to part with. I think Kretch wins ITD but he's far from an elite fighter and has an untested beard at the pro level. I'd really kick myself if Kretch got starched and I didnt hedge a little. Bachtov can only win by ko imo. I missed the deadline on Joyi. Wouldnt have been a big wager but I think he wins in SA. I like Pirog and the under but too late as well. I'm going against the grain on the board and think Ortiz/Maidana goes some rds. Maidana is hvy handed and not the puncher Ortiz is but he is VERY strong and I think it will take some hellacious bombs to get him out. Ortiz needs to be careful. I think Ortiz is going to box a bit here. I dont see an early blowout. I kind of envison a Cotto/Margo type fight. I'll wait til manana for a potential play.

Sportsbetting appears to be done w/boxing. Worldsportsexchange is VERY slow to get new lines out and maybe they are following suit and Betphoenix still has 2 cancelled fights up out of 4 available wagers:shrug:

I added

Molitor -340

under on JAcobs/walton +125 7 1/2

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!

wow, I must say, I was really impressed by Pirog -he won by wide UD BTW - he could be a future champion.

Jantuah is still tough, but thats pretty much about it.

Herbie Hide is beating up a journey man right now...

I hate knee-jerk criticism, but Kretsch has an absolute glass jaw. Worse than Khan's I'd say.

Well, here's a victory that's more related to my lawyer skills than boxing capping:

I e-mailed Bodog with info about the new Jaro-Segura date, which definitively showed that Jaro would not be fighting Hernandez in the next 30 days (I originally thought the rule was 60 days, but it was actually 30 days). Bodog's response:

"While we understand the points you have made we must settle all wagers according to our wagering rules. Our boxing wagering rules do state that we must wait 30 days after the scheduled event before we can settle any fights that have not taken place."

My response:

"Thanks for your quick reply. My reading of your rule is different.

Your rule states: "Fights must take place within 30 days of the listed date of the fight or the bout will be graded 'no action.' "

That does not mean that you have to wait 30 days to grade a bout as "no action." Instead, it means that if a fight occurs 30 days after the listed date, it will be graded as no action. The rule does not expressly prevent the book from grading a fight as "no action" when it is officially cancelled. Your interpretation would be correct if the rule was written in this manner: "When a fight does not occur on the listed date, any wager on that fight will remain pending until 30 days have passed." However, that's not the way your rule is written.

There's no reason to keep the funds tied up when your rule doesn't expressly require them to be.

Thanks for your consideration in this matter."

I just got back from an errand, and the money is back in my account. Props to Bodog for listening to logic.
