A small part of me, the cynical side, wonders just a little bit whether Green was in on this whole fiasco as well.

The interview afterwards was heartfelt, but bordering on a Hulk Hogan style wrestling shtick. "I'm gonna go back to that locker room and flog him like he deserves!"

I don't know.....fishy.....100% Briggs took a dive, but I just wonder.....these guys were sparring mates for years....Green's anger seemed legit, but.....I have a TINY bit of wonder......

I'm no conspiracy theorist....most likely it was all Briggs....we will never know the truth...but it makes me go hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Paul Briggs says he "can't remember a thing" http://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/-/breaking/7626565/briggs-cant-remember-a-thing/

Brigg's trainer Hussein said he believed Green's threat not to pay Briggs his reputed $250,000 fee was said "in the heat of the moment".

"Danny is not a bad man. He understands Paul has a family."
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Gimme a fuking break. 250,000 grand.
What a thief.

After watching the youtube vid, this really seems to be the most blatant dive that I have ever witnessed in a boxing ring!

I mean, honestly, he could at least have waited for a decent punch to be caught with. That was just too obvious.
Darius put up a great show of acting against Rocky, but that was just ridiculous.

250.000 is a lot of money, I can see, why he wanted the fight, even though he probably had not ambition to win whatsoever...

I think you are on to something Ghost.

Anyone who has ever boxed knows that usually when you land a LEGIT KO shot, it's like an electric current go's through your arm.
Green can't tell if he's landed a good shot until he looks at the video???
Give me a Fuking break!!!!

BOOKMAKERS are licking their wounds today after punters pulled off a nationwide plunge on Danny Green to knock out Paul Briggs in the first round in their world title fight in Perth last night.

Bookies lost more than $1 million after Green was backed from $10 into his closing quote of $1.55 to KO Briggs in Round 1, which he did in just 29 seconds including the count.

"We were flooded with calls from punters wanting to back Green all day yesterday," said Haydn Lane of Sportsbet.com.au.

"And there more we wound his price in, the more punters wanted to have on."
The IBO cruiserweight fight was a farce, with Briggs going to the canvas after a punch which barely touched him.

Briggs stumbled a few steps, dropped to the canvas and was counted out after copping a mere graze to the head from a weak Green left jab that would have hardly fazed a member of the public.

Green was left fuming at Tuesday's weigh-in when Briggs tipped the scales at 87.2kg, more than 3kg above the agreed 84kg limit.

But the West Australian was even angrier after the inept showing from Briggs, who was returning to the ring for the first time since 2007.

Briggs was booed as he left the arena as irate fans, who paid a minimum of $59 to attend the fight, showered the Queenslander with beer while chanting "bull-shit".

"Paul Briggs ain't getting paid a cent," an irate Green said.

"I don't blame each and every one of you guys in here for being filthy.

"I want to go to the change room right now and give him the flogging he deserves.

"I'm f..ing spewing and I can't say sorry enough for you guys.

"I will make it up to you guys.

"Thank you very much for coming out and supporting me.

"He ain't getting paid guys, I'm very sorry. I can't do anything more.

"I just can't say sorry enough. I don't know, I'm just flipping out right here

This all could have been avoided if Green didn't go off after the fight. To me he did look like he got nipped but at what force? Green going off shows u he didn't even hardly hit him. Now Green flips after the higher ups tell him what to say :0002

Klitschko-Povetkin off

Klitschko-Povetkin off

Wlad looking for new opponent

BILD is reporting that IBF mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin will be removed from the IBF top ten and that Wladimir will now face the top available opponent on September 11 in Frankfurt, expected to be Sam Peter. Klitschko-Peter would be a rematch of a 2005 bout where Wlad overcame three knockdowns to claim a twelve round decision.

I don't see why it should be avoided.. One guy took a blatant dive and the other guy gave out instead of covering him up. Surely that started off some big waves and investigations, but so what, a situation like this warrants them.. Or would you prefer Briggs to sail into the sunset with that 250K cheque and (possibly) some winnings from the bookies? :)

im saying the heat would have died down and Briggs could sell he got hit with that punch if Green didn't say anything and react to it. To me Green getting worked up shows he really didn't hit him that hard. Not sticking up for Briggs at all.

That is bizzare! This was signed, sealed and delivered and now its being pulled. What could have happened? Was Povetkin in too good of shape?:142smilie :mj07: If he's eating what his buddy Lebedev is, then Wlad was smart to get out of this.

"the bunker"
i have to wonder just how injured/shot briggs must be....

i mean,a guy that`s been through that many wars....a guy with that kind of hard bark on him.......nobody could question briggs` sack....he was a tough mofo....

you`d think a guy with this caliber of experience would know how to take a dive and make it look relatively believable.....

i believe two things are possible....

1)..the guy is absolutely and utterly shot...either he didn`t realize just how shot he was.....or he knew and really, really needed the bread....if he wasn`t totally compromised,he would have to realize the stink that this stoppage would bring him...

2)the guy went all in on the 1st round stoppage.....still,every book has limits....you have to have some upfront capital and some outs....and accomplices... and given that, you still have to believe that he could do a better job of laying down than that...

really was strange...damned shame that such a tough mofo is gonna have his whole body of work tarnished by this last fight....

Well, a very slow week for me.

I've got the under 8.5 in the Wright-Harrison fight at -135. The wager is circled though, which means only small wagers. Harrison's got himself a glass jaw, and I doubt he will last.

I'm also taking Uzelkov at -105 to beat Beibut. Should be a very close tussle, but I think Beibut has been a bit exposed. Also just a smallish wager here.

I also think D. Vargas has got a better than 3 to 1 chance to beat Gayrat. Just a boxrec wager here, but Gayrat doesn't appear to be anything too special.

Good luck guy's! I may add something else, but for now that's it.
