I'm curious as to WHY Alexander Povetkin was suddenly dropped from the IBF ratings, and the fight with Wlad was scrapped? I don't have any respect for any of the rating bodies and nothing they do surprises me, but he was the number 1 contender forever. Now, just a couple months away from a signed title fight, he is suddenly dropped from the ratings entirely, and now Wlad is facing Sam Peter.
I think Povetkin would have taken a beating anyhow, but I never heard anything about why this was done.
OHH BOY, I HATE READING THIS :scaredI'm also taking a chance with Pirog. I've seen some footage and he's a very well schooled fighter. He's fought tougher comp than Jacobs and has been rather impressive. Jacobs had trouble with Smith and his power doesn't quite match his ko %. If Pirog gets out of the early going unfazed then I think he wins. Lrge +135.
ring magazine seems to be becoming irrelevant..they rate bute the #1 super middleweight?......
i thought you had to beat top echelon fighters in your weight class to be rated #1?....his best win is vs bika?......his first win over limited andrade was so tainted they had to have a do-over(of course back in canada again)...
yet because he`s a padded 23-0 he`s #1?...
he`s never had a significant fight outside canada?....he`s fought none of the super 6.....i get that they`re out of bounds while involved in the tourney..but until he actually faces the top fighters in the division, this guy shouldn`t even sniff #1...
they`re literally spitting on the guys that are willing to put it all on the line to try and show they`re #1(ward,kessler,abraham,frochdirrell) by doing it vs the best inside the ring......and by having to win on foreign or neutral soil....
good lord....what an insult...what a sham..
Bute may be the best SM in the world, but I agree with you Weasel. You've got to face the best to be the best, and Bute has not done that as of yet. I wonder why he wasn't in the super 6? Was he not asked or did he not agree?
He was asked and was only one who said no. He is a draw in Canada and is making more money not risking much this way. Shame. I hold it against him and I agree with GW points.
First line I have seen listed on this:
Light Middleweight 12 rounds - must occur in Las Vegas, Nevada for action -
HBO PPV

OHH BOY, I HATE READING THIS :scared
Once again I am going against the board on this fight.
I am BIG on Jacobs.
Pirog looks the goods, is a cracking body puncher, has a great workrate for 12 rounds and is a good switch-hitter BUT it seems to me that most of his best wins have come against older, SLOWER, 154 pounders.
I believe Ishe is a better 154 pounder than anyone Pirog has faced.
I don't think that the Mayweather shoulder roll with the left hand low is going to work as well against someone as fast as Jacobs. I won't be surprised to see him get dummied with right hands that he normally avoids.
Jacobs is ALSO a wicked body puncher. Maybe Pirog's workrate won't be as good when he is actually being hit by a big middleweight.
This is only his second fight outside Russia and the first time was basically a home fight in Germany.
This is his chance to shine on the big stage, who knows how this will affect his nerves.
GBP is looking at Jacobs as their future star. Don't expect any favours for an unknown Russian on their promotion.
