Pacman is a very special fighter with extraordinary physical tools. He's quicker and a better boxer than Cotto. Dude, is already shredded at 150 + pounds. And people don't seem to get this but Pacquiao is the physically stronger man in this fight. Look at his legs. And Cotto is gun shy and diminished - at least to some degree.

I think you can question some of these points. Paq faster/quicker, no doubt. Who's ever outboxed Cotto- nobody. You can make a reasonable argument that Paq has been outboxed a couple times. As far as the strength goes, I was impressed with Cotto's hoisting and depositing of 160 plus pounds of Clottey to the canvas. Paq's genetic calves are insane but not sure that equates to total strength. But speed kills and Paquiao maybe just a (juiced) phenom, now with too many weapons to overcome. I'm pulling for Cotto here, despite a few instances of low blows, I think he's the ultimate professional. If he is gun shy and diminished as you say, the only reason is he went through a gruelling fight with a very strong man with loaded gloves. If you saw Margarito's face later that night, you'd say he cheated to win the battle, but lost the war. That cut against Clottey was nasty and it speaks volumes about Cotto that he didn't pack it in for the easy TechDecision win..

No one has - yet, until the 14th. Cotto does what he has has to win, if that includes bending the rules (see Judah) so be it. He is a likable guy outside the ring. I like his bonding with his son as shown on 24/7, which I feel the same way about my 2 year old. I understand exactly why Cotto could be compromised. I was there on that steamy night. It was a war and possibly against a guy with loaded gloves. Cotto does have heart but do you think he knew he was ahead at the time of the cut against Clottey? And I thought he looked a bit ragged late in the fight and was fortunate that Clottey isn't a good closer. Anyway, we have a compelling welterweight fight with humble warriors and consummate professionals. Can't wait for it but think Pac holds all the cards.

i keep thinking about how,for portions of their fight, cotto outboxed and out-quicked mosely...it was impressive....

then,i remember plaster of paris and his life and death struggle with clottey.....

tough one to figure...cotto really struggled with the big guys..... can he quick with manny?...or if not,be the first bigger guy to put hurt on him?.....

we all know that this amazing climb through the weight classes has to end somewhere...

i think cotto`s perceived as damaged goods in many circles....is he?....

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think Cotto is damaged goods at all. You are right, he out-quicked Mosley and was life and death with a guy with cement hands. I thought the Clottey fight was a tremendous performance. Nobody seems to consider that Clottey is a damn good fighter. Even more so, Cotto would have been well justified in stopping after 5 rounds with his face sliced open like that. He would have won on the scorecards and he knew that...Many a fighter has quit with lesser wounds...but not Cotto.

I suppose the thought is that these fights are what damaged Cotto, but so far he has not faltered.

Roach bets on Pacman
Top trainer Freddie Roach is putting a $1,000 bet on a Manny Pacquiao knockout victory in the first, ninth and tenth rounds, in his Nov. 14 duel with Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. ?I want to make some money,? Roach told a handful of Manila-based scribes after presiding over Pacquiao?s workout Tuesday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. ?I?m putting $1,000 each on a first round KO win and putting the same money as well for a KO victory in the ninth and tenth rounds.?

Usually when I see things like this...magazine covers, singing and dancing on talk shows...a bubble is getting ready to burst.

Allow me to be the first to state for sure - I'm taking Cotto! We know that De La Hoya wasn't there, and Hatton just led with his face. I think Pacquiao is in for a surprise here.

I totally agree. Cotto is never in the spotlight and always kind of pushed aside out of the spotlight. This dude can box and I believe he will give pacquaio a fighttttt. Everyone is underestimating this guy....he is for real.

I will be betting Cotto ITD at +500 along with Cotto straight up at +230.

I think too much is being made of Pac's and Cotto's last few fights.

Pac beat a human punching bag in Diaz and it still used plenty of shots to get Diaz out of there.

Pac beat a walking Zombie in Oscar.

Pac beat a Ricky Hatton who seemed to be in turmoil. From things not going well in camp to walking to the ring with different music for the FIRST time in his life.
When I see shit like that, I just know things are not right.

Cotto had a hard fight with Clottey but Clottey is sooo strong with a chin made of cement, that he would give anyone trouble including Pac.
What I remember most about that fight was Cotto getting cut by a headbutt. The cut was gruesome and Cotto smiled and winked when he went back to his corner. No bitching, whining or looking for an easy way out.

Cotto lost to the much bigger Margarito who was like the Terminator at the time. That kind of pressure tells on most guys not named Sugar Shane.
We then find out the gloves may have been loaded.

Cotto beat Sugar Shane. I thought that fight could have gone either way BUT I was sooo impressed that Cotto was able to match Shanes handspeed at times.

This is the first time in a while that Cotto is not fighting a much bigger man and Pac has not been whacked to the body by a killer like Cotto in a while.
As Quanah already pointed out, guys who start doing photo shoots for Time and sing love songs on chat shows need to be careful.

I think Cotto might be singing Pac a Fukin Lullaby in this fight and it might be quick.

Good Luck All!!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

I've been watching video of both these guys and I believe Q and pfj have an excellent point. I say this as Hatton has LIMITED skills and throws wild/looping punches and is too willing to take 2 or 3 shots to land 1. Not a good tradeoff. Cotto has much more of a solid defence and has never been wild in the ring. When he fought Corley in PR was the only time he fought a different fight, trying to impress the homies and it almost cost him. He will not do it again, especially versus Pac-man. And Oscar was nothing but a tired old-man that nite. No more heart and when he saw it wasn't going to be a cake walk he packed it in. Fuk the tats!!!!. I think Cotto is MUCH more of a live puppie than he is getting credit for. Manny Pac has actually said he could get elected mayor and STILL have a boxing career. WTF!!!. I think maybe his head is so large for good reason.

Early gym reports & video show Pacman to be in tremendous shape.
I don't think he's underestimating Cotto.

But i agree Weepaul has a point.
I still believe Cotto will show his usual weakness around the tenth and gets stopped.

Good observation Andrey regarding Hatton/Pac entrance demeanor. Thanks, it would be great if you saw the entrances for this bout.

Personally I see Cotto as a physically and psychologically diminished fighter following the Margo loss. His chin looked really bad against Clottey, who could've stopped him if he upped his tempo. Cotto's head snapped more violently than against Margo. Cotto showed an awesome chin that night, to take 11rds of concrete beating. If you notice, he doesn't show signs of damage until later in the fight, whereas each one of Clottey's blows snapped his head even early in the fight. There was a hint of ragged desperation against the Blood Clot.

Cotto's defense is average to poor, he's just BEGGING for that uppercut knockout. He's defensively competent in that he controls the distance, but in a firefight, he's susceptible. Although Pac isn't famous for his uppercuts, you can believe Roach sees the opening between the gloves.

I don't think Pac will try to outbox him or fight at a tactical pace. His advantage here is his speed and agility, he should blitz Cotto early and not let him get his feet under him. A strong breeze can hurt Cotto these days, so an all-out assault should overwhelm him.

Pac straight is too high, Cotto straight isn't high enough. I like 'won't go' or the under 9.5. I also like Pac 1-6.

Pac is simply too quick to be caught by a thudding body shot by Cotto. If it happens, it will have an element of luck.

I can see fouls, headbutts, maybe a TD or DQ. Under prop covers it all.

I'd say by nature Pac is a very high energy guy who sometimes cannot control his impulses. What I mean here is he a whirling dervish of sorts and will NOT fight a sustained/controlled/methodical fight because that's just not who he is. He is not the wild man of old, but a leopard doesn't change his spots. If Cotto does get in and land Pac will go on tilt and it will be a bar brawl. I wish they had a bar brawl prop because Pac cannot control his urge to get into a shootout when he gets tagged, and I think he will eat some hard shots. I'm banking on a loss of composure by the "mayor".

I will be again for grand arrivals and I'll post here how they both looked.
Sometimes you get nothing out of those arrivals. I was for Mayweather and Marquez. And much to my surprise Marguez looked great. Thank god it did not fool me.
But as for Pac and Hatton. Hatton looked really bad. Extremely drain. His look was like a look of old man. And also he was acting like he not deserve this attention even though not that many people were there. Right then, I had a feeling that Pac has nothing to worry.
Any way I tell you if I got anything out of this arrival.
So far I like Cotto but I liked Valuev much more then Cotto last week and look what happen.

Manny Pacquiao -215 Very Large
This play was made back on 7/22/09.

Pacquiao Vs. Cotto Under 9.5 -140 Large

Looking at Cotto's last fight against Clottey he cuts, gets hurt, and loses stamina more easily than in the past. I don't see Cotto losing like Hatton did to Pac-Man, but by the sixth or seventh round I think Cotto will have taken enough accumulated punishment that Kenny Bayliss, a good referee, will have seen enough to stop the fight. Remember if Clottey would just punched more in the late rounds Cotto would of been koed. Pacquiao will fight a fast pace the whole fight and with his blinding speed will give Cotto trouble.

Good Luck Guys!

I just come back from arrivals. Not much to tell from this one.
Pac. Looked great the same as he looked before Hatton fight. Fredy Roach was not as nearly confident as he was before Hatton fight. In fact, I was standing right in front of Freddy before Hatton fight and he was telling everyone that Pac will finish Hatton inside 3.
Cotto. Looked a bit drained. He looked better then Hatton before fight, but still he looked drained. He was all buisness, definetly don't give a f.. about fans.
All in all, I don't see anything that can translated in to advantage of Pac or Cotto.
After seeing arrivals, my opinion now 60/40 advantage to Cotto, before was 70/30 to Cotto.
But it is just my opinion.

usual weakness around the tenth??!?! what weakness was that....with margarito? B/c I sure didn't see that weakness with Clottey and especially didn't see that weakness with Mosley:shrug: . So if its the same weakness that he showed in the 10th like when he fought Mosley....I am all over cotto for sureeeeeee. I am not saying Cotto is going to take this one by a landslide but its definitely not going to be an easy win for pac man. :nono:
