ice picks grand tour of scotland

ice picks grand tour of scotland

ice pick, depending on what you want to pay you can play upmarket courses or good honest municipal ones.

i would call ahead if you want to play Turnberry, troon, or Prestwick (where it all started).

Muncipaly the best in Ayrshire are Lochgreen,Darley in troon and Ayr Belleisle.

IF you can catch a ferry you can play a 12 hole course on the Isle of Arran at Shiskine. thats a novelty.

There are so many choices depending on budget, i would suggest looking at some sites for info. im sure there is one called scottishgolf.com or co.uk that lists those available, green fees, and booking options.cant comment on Glasgow, or Oban but any questions re ayrshire i will try to help.

cheers

Ice picks, more to add to your Scottish tour - If you're near Ayr - the top quality courses are Troon, Turnberry + Prestwick (take a ladder for the bunkers - unreal:nono: ) - but Troon has some v.good but really tough municipal courses that aren't too tough to get on to.
I have to agree with Tartan cords - Ayr Belleisle is nice, but a trip to the Isle of Arran is where I'd go - the course at Shiskine (Blackwaterfoot - the 12 holer) is fantastic as are Lamlash + Whiting Bay.
Enjoy yourself - the Scots are great hosts + golf crazy. There appears to be a total lack of alcohol licencing laws in most places as well :D :toast:
Cheers

DOGS: you should be able to add the 2nd selection to the ticket by locating it and merely clicking it before you confirm the first selection. Although I haven't tried that particular arrangement.

Friday's Picks

Friday's Picks

Thursday 4 matches went 1 win, 1 loss, 1 push, and 1 cancelled.

Friday's 3 balls:

1. Taniguchi over McGinley and Hart

2. Harrington over Daly and Scott [2 units]

3. Jacquelin over Casey and Appleby - we are hosting a French foriegn exchange student - what can I say...:)

4. Parnevik over Singh and Furyk

5. Lonard over Sjoland and Lyle - can Lonard bounce back after a fairly bad round...?

6. Jantzen over Oldcorn and Mayfair [2 units]

7. Mickelson over Faldo and Sutton [3 units]

8. Mattiace over Campbell and Lane

Tartancords, xodale and hoss - THANKS for the tips on the places to play. Several years ago I had the opportunity to play Troon and Prestwick. Really enjoyed both, especially Prestwick, where they have a BLIND par 3 hole - something I had never seen before.

I am joining up with 7 other golfers on the 23rd, and we have a pre-arranged itinerary, including Troon, Muirfield, Gleneagles, St. Andrews, etc. 8 straight days of golf...whew! The last day we play Cruden Bay, which from pictures I have looks fantastic.

I am coming over about 3 days early, and hope to play at 1 or more of the courses you have mentioned. The one 12 holer on Arran sounds intriguing. And Belleisle also...

Thanks again...

If you are interested the weather forecast for the next 2 days for Muirfield is - tomorrow - rain and cold winds up to 25mph and Sunday drier but still with the wind - I remember you kept a database on poor weather players - any up there?
Have personally added Lawrie to my portfolio - highly unoriginal but he has been there, done that and got the T-shirt - 80/1 seemed very fair for someone just 4 shots off the pace

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
The 131st Open Championship

We've seen it before from Tiger. Iron play that rivals 2000, and he really doesn't know where his driver is going (and this week even the fairway metal), but with more rights than lefts. Sometimes it doesn't get corrected. There is more than mere patience going on with some of his decisions off the tee.

In the 1972 postmortem, Nicklaus received some criticism for being too patient for 54 holes, although Jack has said that really wasn't the case. WE'VE SEEN IT BEFORE: ONE BIG DIFFERENCE NOW IS that none of the 10 or 5 or 2 or so guys that could or might have made Woods pay the price have ever done it at just this moment. Only at his very best is he the invincible golfer.

I am not seeing on television or in the stats a lot of guys holing putts in situations and from places that find Tiger's solid efforts being denied. But someone will definitely need to if Tiger is going to be forced to be at his very best. He hopes he just has to capitalize and close.

Despite a Saturday pairing with O'Meara at Lytham last year (Woods had his highest score of the week and was nipped by O'Meara, 72-73), that really is a significant X-factor. If conditions are tough, I can see it not being the most conducive to the most intense grinding of his career. While the latest forecast is an advantage for Woods against the field (notwithstanding a couple of more drivers), it's also a chance for someone among the natives to use it to their advantage, too.

This is 2002, and I'll believe it when I see it.

--------------- --------------- ---------------

As for my weekend wagers:

(1) My popgun will be firing Harrington -- (+175 or the like to Place Top 4 for 1* if it becomes available @ Olympic) -- or otherwise include him in my portfolio. I liked him coming in, and there has been a visible display of mainly his golf and also his golfing equilibrium that can make you think he plans on sticking around.

(2) My rifle is firing Lawrie(80/1 e.w. for 0.25*). On Thursday I had every intention of having something on Ian's top pick among the Euro
players (and I thought it would come down to Harrington, Clarke, Montgomerie or Lawrie), but all I clearly caught was Faldo(150/1), which
didn't seem the same as the Faldo(50/1) generally available this week. Plenty of good reasons to take Lawrie now, capped by, "80/1 seemed very fair . . ." Cheers and

GL

Funny you should say "discretion as better part of valour"..... I had just thought that myself. I have been laying Faldo at Betfair but as he is 275 & 250 there now I had cover it.... you never know he might do a Monty and stress is a killer!

Ian if u are still interested.... the place is currently 29/25/24 for 5 places... compares favourably with Hills 100/1 1/4 first 4
