Satuday at Muirfield

Satuday at Muirfield

Only a couple of matches I am playing today...fairly good day Friday...

1. Harrington over Waldorf [I think Duff will back up a bit today]

2. Clarke over the Goose - big and strong wins the day in bad conditions, which appears to be shaping up weatherwise

3. Price over Monty - Colin probably cannot duplicate his effort yesterday. Price has played solidly for a few months...

4. Els over Maruyama - I think Els has the best chance to win the Open over Woods...

Dogs That Bark - nice going yesterday....Could you explain "shits and grin combo"?? :)

Good Luck...IP

ADDED at Olympic:

1. Els +175 over Woods - nice price on Els, IMO

Maybe I'm an asshole but I sure loved seeing Tiger fall apart like that today.

Els will be tough but he can be beaten. I'm not going to be adding more plays but here is what I currently have going

Maruyama 2 units win at 60-1, 5 units place at 15-1
Garcia 10 units win at 25-1
Duval 2 units win at 40-1, 5 units place at 10-1 (can't believe this is still alive)
Goosen 5 units win at 20-1
Clarke 10 units win at 25-1 (Na Na Na Goodbye)
Olazabal 2 units win, 5 units place at 40-1 - LOST

I'll add one matchup today for 10 units
Garcia -115 vs. McCarron at OLY??????

Just seen the BBC weather forecast for today. He started off with the UK as whole (I'm in for a bit of rain while watching golf on TV) but then focussed on Muirfield....

"It will be a dry afternoon and as the wind will drop as the afternoon progresses the leaders should be in for a good round".

That's what he said 'weather' it's what happens or not....

Outrights all spit the bit final round -3 units plus -2 units on BC open who had 2 in contention also and faded today.
totalsweek -5 units ouch ytd +34.6

Matches week 11-4 ytd 183-181
units week +8.25 ytd +4.13

Disappointing week on outrights as many in contention only to fade but had more than my share of luck on them past weeks so no complaints. Glad to see Ernie cash in.Truely deserving champion. Will watch end of BC in anticipation as Spike is currently 1 out of
lead

What a finish.

Would have been on the edge of my seat... but due to betfair I was bound to show a profit on every player who finished in the top 17 no matter which one won.... you could say I had that one covered!!

Set myself a target of $300 and Ernie met it though Levet or Elkington would have bettered it.

What a classic Open Championship. Gunna be some kind of let down next week. If only Gary Evans had made par at the last.......I don't think I've ever cheered so hard for a putt to drop like that one on 17. The man deserved that playoff today, what an amazing performance .

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
The 131st Open Championship

Ernie Els played with the pressure of the championship on his back for 3 days before Muirfield found its legendary champion . . . It seems the golf gods chose Saturday as the day to stamp a timeless mark on this Open before exiting the stage to let the mortals add some further distinction to the championship . . . With the wind laying down for 3 days and the contenders so tightly bunched, for me the dramatic storylines that did emerge, and the large number of potential challenges that failed to materialize (despite their golden opportunity with Tiger out of the picture), stand out well ahead of the memorable golf.

Going Forward . . . "I'm not ancient, and I'm not royal," which must be why I am unable to follow the thinking on breaking up the foursome for
the playoff. . . The Euros may be seeing a run of fine play from Levet without waiting through any lengthy aftereffects, while Padraig is looking like a specialist in the majors who will have plenty more opportunities with the bit in his mouth . . .Wood's further pursuit of Grand Slam acclaim is as close as his next Masters victory, and his 65 on Sunday was nothing insignificant.

--------------- -------------------

Outrights: 0-9 (-6.10*)
Matchups and 3 Balls: 5-7 (-2.45*)
Props and Specials: 1-1 (+0.20*)

Not a profitable event. Then again, had Love, Leonard, Price, Rose and Harrington all in with a chance on Sunday, and although it was a big
case of not on Sunday, four of them finished within three shots of the winner. Missed, again. Congrats to milpalm on Els and DTB on Spike and any others that came up large on Sunday. I don't think the John Deere Classic or even the British Seniors can make this week seem too important, even if the opportunities are right there. GL

I have backed Padraig in all three majors so far and once again, he did not quite make it...reasonable reason why he took dirver off last, but if he had been glued to his tv like we were, he would have known to get the iron out of his bag!!!
'I was now six under par and Els was eight. I figured I needed to make a birdie on the last to have any chance of the title but my tee shot with the driver found the left hand trap. Automatic bogie five.'
I will let him off this time, but that will be the third time and the odds of reward are getting less each time!
Nearly cleaned up on Appleby, took healthy profit on the 144/1 at Betfair when Els double-bogied 16th and again when four were finalised for play-off. Didn't quite make big pay-day, for both of us.

Els [72] over Maruyama [75] Won

Els [72] over Woods [72] +175 Won

I made no plays on Sundays round.

Not too bad overall for the week, and I predicted in my earlier post [not to toot my own horn ;) ] that Els had the best shot at beating the melted down Woods. Too bad I didn't follow my own advice and bet him vs. Mik and Sergio
