Monday?s List of 13: Wrapping up a sports weekend??

13) Interesting stat; 32.5% of NFL players who played in Week 17 games weren?t drafted by an NFL team, which is part of what makes the new AAF so interesting. The best guys in the AAF will probably get invites to NFL training camps next summer.

12) 338 NFL prospects are going to Indianapolis for the NFL Combine at the end of this month. Thats a lot of wind sprints, measurements and interviews.

11) Don?t Knicks? fans deserve a rebate for their season tickets? New York lost its last 16 games and doesn?t even seem to be trying to win. They?re 10-45 this season.

I see these commercials for the Big East tournament that tout Madison Square Garden as ?the mecca of basketball? and its all such BS.

Last five years, Knicks are 119-264; they haven?t been in the playoffs since 2013, haven?t been in the NBA Finals since 1999, haven?t won an NBA title since 1973.

They can?t do better for a head coach than David Fizdale? Really? Why?

10) Providence coach Ed Cooley must agree that MSG is the mecca of basketball; he is 14-5 in games at Madison Square Garden; 5-1 against St John?s, 9-4 against everyone else in the Big East tournament. His Friars beat St John?s again Saturday.

9) When the 76ers acquired Tobias Harris from the Clippers at the trade deadline, they dropped from 16-1 to 10-1 to win the NBA title.

8) When an NFL team hires a head coach, the first big thing the coach has to do is to put together a coaching staff; new Jets? coach Adam Gase assembled an interesting crew.

Joe Vitt and Gregg Williams were members of the Saints? coaching staff implicated in the 2012 BountyGate scandal; in the bounty hearings, Vitt accused Williams of lying in his testimony, so their working together again shouldn?t be awkward at all.

Vitt is also Adam Gase?s father-in-law.

Gregg Williams? son Blake was also hired by the Jets; he has never been on an NFL staff that his father wasn?t also on. Rams fired Blake Williams after one year because pretty much no one could stand him.

Former Lions? OC Jim Bob Cooter is the Jets? new RB coach; he was Peyton Manning?s backup at Tennessee.

7) Turner Sports has a deal with Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to have a Bleacher Report-branded studio inside its sports book that will be its hub for gambling content.

Caesars will also be a presenting sponsor of some Turner-produced events

6) Ohio State 55, Indiana 52? Hoosiers lost nine of their last ten games, but there will be people on TV stumping for their being in the NCAA?s. If a team is 4-9 in a conference, any conference, then they don?t belong in the field of 68. I?d rather see a second team from the SoCon or WCC.

5) Houston 65, Cincinnati 58? Bearcats led 58-57 with 6:11 left, then never scored another point, snapping their 8-game win streak.

4) Random opinion; of the eight AAF teams, Arizona?s green/gold uniforms are by far the best; excellent helmets. Not fond of having the uniform number on one side of the helmet, like all the teams do, would rather have the team?s logo on both sides of the helmet.

3) I?m scrambling for information on the AAF; apparently the players signed 3-year deals, for $70K this year, $80K next year and $100K in 2021, with the stipulation that they can?t jump to the XFL next year, when that spring league starts.

Matt Linehan plays QB for the Salt Lake Stallions; he played college ball at Idaho, and is the son of Scott Linehan, who was recently fired as offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys.

2) Missouri State 66, Illinois State 65? Homestanding Bears had ball out of bounds under the basket with 0:07.8 left; the ball wound up in a wild scramble at mid-court, with all ten players involved, before a kid on Missouri State grabbed the ball and drained a half-court shot at the buzzer to win the game. Very bitter loss for the Redbirds.

1) Happy birthday to the great actor Joe Pesci, who celebrated his 76th birthday over the weekend. Out of all his movies, My Cousin Vinny is my favorite.

Big Monday Tip Sheet
February 10, 2019
By David Schwab

Big Monday on ESPN starts things off with a big showdown in the ACC between the No. 3 Virginia Cavaliers and the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.

Moving to the Big 12 in a 9 p.m. start, the No. 13 Kansas Jayhawks will be on the road against the TCU Horned Frogs. As a bonus tilt in that same conference, the Oklahoma Sooners go on the road to tangle with the Baylor Bears.

Opening Odds - per BetOnline.ag

No. 3 Virginia Cavaliers at No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels (ESPN , 7:00 p.m. ET)

Opening Odds: Virginia -1, Total 143

Betting Matchup

Coming off Saturday night?s 81-71 loss to Duke as a two-point home favorite, Virginia will look to avoid a straight-up two-game losing streak after losing just one other game all season long. At 20-2 SU overall with a 8-2 record in ACC play, the Cavaliers have now failed to cover in their last three games to fall to 16-6 against the spread. They are still a profitable 7-1 ATS on the road. The was the first time all season that Virginia?s defense allowed more than 72 points. Both losses have come against the Blue Devils.

North Carolina needed overtime to get past the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday in an 88-85 victory as a heavy 15 ?-point home favorite. The Tar Heels improved to 9-1 SU in the ACC as part of an overall record of 19-4. The total has gone OVER in four of their last six games. This was just the second time they failed to cover in their current SU seven-game winning streak. The lone conference loss was against Louisville on Jan. 12. Freshman guard Coby White posted 33 points in Saturday?s win . He continues to lead North Carolina in scoring with 15.9 points per game.

Betting Trends

-- The Cavaliers have covered ATS in seven of their first 10 ACC games and the total has stayed UNDER in three of their last for conference games before going 135 ? points on Saturday night.

-- The Tar Heels are a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and the total has gone OVER in three of those five contests.

-- Virginia has won the last three meetings both SU and ATS with the total staying UNDER in four of the last five meetings.

No. 13 Kansas Jayhawks at TCU Horned Frogs (ESPN, 9:00 p.m. ET)

Opening Odds: TCU -2, Total 148

Betting Matchup

The Jayhawks are 2-3 both SU and ATS in their last five games, but they ran past Oklahoma State on Saturday as 10 ?-point home favorites. The total went OVER the closing 137 ?-point line in the win and it has gone OVER in four of their last six games. One of Kansas?s seven SU conference wins (against four losses) came against TCU on Jan. 9 with a 77-68 victory at home as a six-point favorite. Junior forward Dedric Lawson is averaging a team-high 19.6 points and he has eclipsed that average in three of his last five starts.

TCU improved to 5-5 SU in the Big 12 with back-to-back victories against Oklahoma State at home as an 8 ?-point favorite and Iowa State on Saturday in a 92-83 win as a 9 ?-point road underdog. The total has gone OVER in its last four games. Saturday?s win was the first time the Horned Frogs covered the closing number in their last four outings. Freshman guard Kendric Davis had the hot hand against Iowa State with a season-high 22 points.

Betting Trends

-- The Jayhawks have failed to cover in their last four Monday games and the total has gone OVER in their last five games played on Monday.

-- The Horned Frogs are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games with the total going OVER in six of their last eight Monday games.

-- The favorite in this matchup has covered in three of the last five meetings with one of those games ending as a PUSH. The total has stayed UNDER in the last two games between the two.

Oklahoma Sooners at Baylor Bears (ESPN2, 9:00 p.m. ET)

Opening Odds: OFF

Betting Matchup

With Saturday?s 66-54 loss to Texas Tech as slight 1 ?-point home underdogs, the Sooners? SU losing streak reached four games while going 1-3 ATS. They are now 3-8 SU in Big 12 play as part of an overall record of 15-9. They have gone 16-6-2 ATS with the total staying UNDER or ending as a PUSH in 15 of those 24 games. Oklahoma is allowing an average of 67.9 PPG, but it has allowed 70 points or more in six of its eight losses in the conference.

Baylor beat the Sooners 77-47 on Jan. 28 as a 5 ?-point home favorite as part of a six-game wining streak (SU and ATS). However, it has now lost its last two games (SU and ATS) with Saturday?s 70-63 setback against Kansas State at home in a game that closed as a PICK. The total went OVER 126 points on Saturday and it has gone OVER in nine of the Bears? last 12 games. Baylor was without its top scorer against Kansas State with senior guard Makai Mason (16.1 PPG) sidelined with a foot injury. He is day-to-day for Monday night.

Betting Trends

-- The Sooners are 6-2-2 ATS in their last 10 road games and the total has stayed UNDER in two of their last three games on the road.

-- The Bears have a 9-6 record ATS in their last 15 games at home with the total staying UNDER in nine of those games.

-- Baylor has won four of the last five meetings SU and it has a 5-1 edge in the last six games between the two. The total has stayed UNDER in seven of the last 10 meetings overall.

Top 25 Betting Recap
February 10, 2019
By Joe Williams

Each week until March Madness we'll take a look at how the Top 25 fared from college basketball, but straight up and against the number, while also taking a look at their upcoming schedule.

Virginia Tech (18-3 SU, 12-8 ATS) sputtered through the week, suffering two of their season's five total losses in the past week. A home loss against fellow ranked team Louisville (17-7 SU, 13-9-2 ATS) is an acceptable loss, but an eight-point setback on the road against a subpar Clemson (15-8 SU, 10-13 ATS) side is a not a good look. The Hokies failed to cover both games this week, and they're now on a 3-7 ATS skid dating back to New Year's Day. It won't get any easier for the Hokies, either, as Virginia (20-2 SU, 16-6 ATS), Duke (21-2 SU, 15-8 ATS) and a trip to Florida State (18-5 SU, 10-12-1 ATS) loom on the horizon before the regular season concludes.

Tennessee (22-1 SU, 13-8-1 ATS) is not looking to loosen their grip on the top-ranked spot anytime soon. They rolled through Florida (12-11 SU, 9-14 ATS) and Missouri (11-11 SU, 9-12-1 ATS) by 12 points each. In fact, each of their past five wins since their overtime scare at Vanderbilt (9-14 SU, 8-15 ATS) have been by 12 or more points. Overall, the Vols have won 18 in a row since their overtime setback against Kansas (18-6 SU, 10-14 ATS) on a neutral-site court back on Nov. 23.

Speaking of the Jayhawks, they were picked to be one of the challengers for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. That ship might have sailed already, as they cannot seem to shake their shooting funk. Sure, injuries and some off-court situations have reared their ugly head to derail things in Lawrence, but they're an uncharacteristic 2-6 ATS over the past eight outings, and just 3-4 SU in the past seven. If they didn't have the 'Kansas' name, they'd probably be unranked by now.

Duke won a titanic showdown and rematch with Virginia on Saturday in Charlottesville, 81-71. That's a seventh straight win for Coach K's bunch, and a fourth cover in a row. The 'under' is also 5-1 in the past six for the Blue Devils, who have been a parlay players friend lately. The Hoos suffered just their second loss of the season, both to Duke, but this time they didn't spoil the afternoon for side bettors with a late bucket and a bad beat like they did at Cameron a few weeks ago.

Nevada (23-1 SU, 15-7-1 ATS) was having some issues covering a spread a few weeks ago, but those woes appear to be in the rear-view mirror. The Wolf Pack have covered five in a row, and won those games by an average of 24.4 points per game. Each of the past five spreads have seen Nevada favored by double digits, and they have been able to get it done. The 'over' is also 4-1 during the span, as they're averaging 93.8 PPG. In fact, Nevada ranks 24th in the nation 82.5 PPG, while allowing just 66.6 PPG to check in 55th in the country. That's going to mean quite a few covers even favored by 10 or more points.

Gonzaga (23-2 SU, 18-7 ATS) rolled up a pair of lopsided wins against pretty good teams this week. On Thursday the Zags pounded San Francisco (18-6 SU, 10-11-2 ATS) by a 92-62 score to comfortably cover an 18 1/2-point number, and they routed St. Mary's (15-10 SU, 15-10 ATS) by 48 points, covering a 17-point spread. Many folks might question the conference schedule of the Bulldogs, but remember, this is a team which lost by just three to Tennessee on a neutral-court, while ticking off a win against Duke by two points back on Nov. 21. They can hang with the titans of the college basketball world yet again. They're 11-3 ATS over the past 14 games, too.

Poison Ivy Trends
February 10, 2019
By Marc Lawrence

With the college basketball season now in full conference swing, let?s examine a handicapping theory that yields a much better return on your investment than the banks do these days.

It deals with teams playing back-to-back days without rest during the regular season. In particular, Ivy League games noted for playing back-to-back contests on Friday and Saturday nights.

What we?re looking to target on is how brain-chain teams fare the second night of these affairs no-rest affairs. Let?s take a closer look at a few of the more suitable situations.

Creaky Double Digit Chalk

According to our database, the worst role for these teams is as double-digit home favorites, where they are just 62-94-3 ATS overall heading into this year since the 1990-91 season.

Even worse, double-digit home chalk with a .687 or greater win percentage are just 23-45 ATS.

Digging deeper, if these tired .687 or greater hosts are laying doubles digits at home facing an opponent that is coming off consecutive losses they dissolve faster than an Alka Seltzer tablet in a glass of ice-cold water, going 3-22 ATS. Now that?s cold.

Fool Me Twice

Revenge serves as a major motivating tool in these no-rest Ivy League matchups, especially when we bring a visiting team in as a dog in with double-revenge incentive from a pair of losses suffered last season.

That?s confirmed by a 54-36-2 ATS mark when these wonder-boys are on the road, including 43-23-1 ATS when taking seven or more points when fueled with double-revenge incentive.

Better yet, bring these hungry revengers in off consecutive losses as 7-point or larger dogs and they make the Dean?s List, going 24-8 ATS (see Brown +12 against Princeton earlier this season).

Triskaidekaphobia Road

Our third and final theorem occurs when these non-rested Ivy Leaguers are on the Saturday night road off a loss of 13 or more points.

Dress them up as dogs (or pick) in this role and they are 79-61-3 ATS, including 41-24 ATS when taking 10 or more points.

Bring them into these same games with a win percentage of .400 or less and they ratchet up to 36-14 ATS, including 19-2 ATS when taking 17 or more points.

There you have it, the perfect calamine lotion for Ivy League teams in search of a remedy for a little extra Saturday scratch.

Big Monday Tip Sheet
David Schwab

Big Monday on ESPN starts things off with a big showdown in the ACC between the No. 3 Virginia Cavaliers and the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.

Moving to the Big 12 in a 9 p.m. start, the No. 13 Kansas Jayhawks will be on the road against the TCU Horned Frogs. As a bonus tilt in that same conference, the Oklahoma Sooners go on the road to tangle with the Baylor Bears.

Tennessee remains No. 1 in AP poll
February 11, 2019
By The Associated Press

The NCAA Division I Basketball Committee slated Duke as the No. 1 overall seed in its initial tournament rankings over the weekend. Voters in the AP Top 25 stuck with Tennessee as their top team.

The Vols received 40 of 64 first-place votes from a media panel in the poll released Monday, remaining ahead of Duke for fourth straight week. The No. 2 Blue Devils had 24 first-place votes.

No. 3 Gonzaga and No. 4 Virginia, the other top seeds in the NCAA's initial rankings on Saturday, rounded out the top five with Kentucky.

Tennessee (22-1, 10-0 SEC) moved to the No. 1 spot in the AP poll after Duke (21-2, 9-1 ACC) lost to Syracuse on Jan. 14.

The Vols continued winning, stretching their school-record streak to 18 games with wins over Missouri and Florida last week.

Committee chair Bernard Muir said the decision for the top overall seed was close, but Blue Devils edged the Vols based on strength of schedule.

Tennessee was No. 1 in the South Region.

''I want these guys to enjoy what they're doing and I'm probably not the easiest guy to let that happen because I'm always thinking of ways we can get better, and I want to do it right now,'' Vols coach Rick Barnes said. ''I appreciate how hard they're competed and the fact that they want to get better.''

Duke won both of its games last week, rolling over Boston College by 25 before winning a rematch with Virginia 81-71 on Saturday. The Blue Devils needed overtime to beat the Cavaliers the first meeting and shot them out of the gym in the second, making 13 of 21 from the 3-point arc.

''We were just in our zone and it's great to see when our team is like that,'' said Duke's R.J. Barrett, who had 26 points and was 6 for 10 on 3s.

Virginia dropped one spot from No. 3 after losing to the Blue Devils.

BIG 12 RACE

Kansas State moved back into the poll this week at No. 18.

Perhaps more importantly, the Wildcats are in control of the Big 12 race after knocking off rival Kansas and Baylor last week.

The Wildcats (18-5) are 8-2 in the Big 12, putting them 1 1/2 games ahead of the 14th-ranked Jayhawks, No. 15 Texas Tech and No. 23 Iowa State. Kansas State plays Texas and Iowa State this week.

Kansas will need to make a late-season run for the second straight year if it is going to stretch its record run of conference titles to 15. The Jayhawks play TCU and West Virginia.

ZIGGING ZAGS

Gonzaga moved up a spot in the AP poll this week, was selected as the top overall seed in the West by the NCAA's selection committee and crushed WCC rival Saint Mary's 94-46 on Saturday.

It wasn't all good news for the Zags last week.

Gonzaga forward Killian Tillie did not play against the Gaels and is out indefinitely after suffering a torn ligament in his right foot against San Francisco on Thursday. He missed the first two months of the season due to a foot injury and has played just nine games.

MOVING UP

No. 17 Florida State had the biggest jump in this week's poll, climbing five spots after beating Syracuse and Louisville, which remained at No. 16 despite the loss.

No. 9 Houston and No. 12 Purdue each moved up three spots.

MOVING DOWN

No. 22 Virginia Tech had a precipitous drop this week, falling 11 spots after losses to Louisville and Clemson.

DROPPING OUT

A week after moving into the poll at No. 25, Cincinnati dropped out beating Memphis and losing to Houston last week.

NCAA Basketball Game Preview - Virginia Cavaliers at North Carolina Tar Heels

The Virginia Cavaliers could not handle the elite athleticism of the Duke Blue Devils last time out. Now they get to face the other powerhouse from the same state. The North Carolina Tar Heels have not been as good as Virginia or Duke this season, but they aren?t far behind. The Tar Heels have the benefit of the home court in this big-time matchup with the Cavaliers next time out, so it could be a really competitive contest.

Both teams are squarely in the mix for the ACC title and are trying to wrap up a No. 1 seed in the NCAA men?s basketball tournament. There are vast implications coming from this matchup and both sides would love to claim it in college basketball gambling.

This NCAA basketball game between the Virginia Cavaliers and North Carolina Tar Heels will be held at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina at 7 p.m. ET on Monday, February 11th, 2019. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

We'll have NCAA basketball odds at BookMaker.eu available for every game of the 2019 NCAA basketball season.

Odds Analysis

Virginia has been fantastic this season, with a record of 20-2 overall and 8-2 in the conference. Both of the Cavaliers? losses have come to Duke, which has the look of the best team in the nation. Virginia might be on the road for this one but rest assured it has the type of talent to come away with the win. Doing so would keep Virginia in the race for the conference crown.

North Carolina hasn?t quite been up to its lofty standards but is still putting together a strong year. The Tar Heels are 19-4 overall and they have gone 9-1 in the ACC. North Carolina has captured seven straight victories to zoom up the national rankings, and a No. 1 seed in March Madness could be in play with a similarly strong finish, beginning with a victory over Virginia.

Key Stat

81. That?s the number of points Virginia gave up last time out to Duke as its normally vaunted defense was not able to contain the athletic Blue Devils. Players like Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett were able to penetrate Virginia?s fundamentally sound defense.

North Carolina is not quite as talented as the Blue Devils, but it?s pretty close. The Tar Heels are averaging 88.3 points per game, which is one of the best marks in the country. Coby White is leading the way with 15.9 points per contest but there are plenty of others who can also fill it up. Despite the issues last time out, Virginia still boasts arguably the best defense in the nation.

If the Cavaliers can make life tough on the Tar Heels, they will have a great shot at pulling out the win.

Player To Watch

Kyle Guy -- Virginia is likely going to score more than normal in this one, and a lot of the pressure is on its junior guard. Guy had 16 points and three assists against Duke but turned the ball over five times.

Guys has been in a shooting slump the past three games. He shot 3-of-11 against North Carolina State, 4-of-15 against Miami before making 6-of-15 shots against the Blue Devils. Guy is shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 43.2 percent from three-point range on the season. If he can connect that well from downtown in this one, it would be a boon to Virginia?s chances.

Free NCAA Basketball ATS Picks

North Carolina?s team is very good but not quite great. The Cavaliers match up better in this one because the Tar Heels don?t have the same obscene amount of talent like Duke. Virginia may be underrated in this one after losing to Duke, but don?t give up on the Cavaliers.

Virginia is the choice to capture this road victory to prove it has an elite team. The Cavaliers are also the choice to cover the spread as it should be pretty small in NCAA men?s basketball gambling. Virginia should be able to really slow this game down so consider the ?under? on the scoring total.

NCAA Basketball Pick: Virginia Cavaliers 69, North Carolina Tar Heels 64

Kansas at TCU

If the Kansas Jayhawks are going to keep their amazing streak of winning Big 12 titles alive then you have to think Monday?s game at the TCU Horned Frogs is a must-win. The Jayhawks are 7-4 in the conference, tied with Iowa State and Texas Tech and a game and a half behind Kansas State. The Jayhawks still have games remaining against the Red Raiders and Wildcats, so they still have a chance to win the Big 12 regular season title for the 15th straight season.

Let?s look at Kansas vs. TCU on ESPN and college basketball picks.

Kansas Jayhawks vs. TCU Horned Frogs
Date and Time: Monday, February 11, 2019, 9:00 p.m. ET
Location: Ed & Rae Schollmaier Arena, Fort Worth, TX
College Basketball Odds at BetDSI: TCU -3, O/U 148
Kansas vs. TCU TV Coverage: ESPN

The Jayhawks bounced back from a loss to Kansas State to take out Oklahoma State on Saturday. It helped that they were facing an Oklahoma State team that has just two conference wins this season. The Jayhawks got 25 points from Dedric Lawson and 23 from Ochai Agbaji in the win. Kansas also got a strong game from point guard Devon Dotson who had 18 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and just one turnover.

Kansas is not the same team they were to start the season, as they have lost three of their best players in Udoka Azubuike, Silvio De Sousa and Lagerald Vick. The team recently lost Vick and they really don?t know if they will get him back. He is their best 3-point shooter and a key player. Head coach Bill Self said recently that all the team can do is move forward. ?We?ll keep moving ahead,? Self said to the media, ?I?d be lying if I said frustration doesn?t set in, but it doesn?t do any good to get hung up on that because that doesn?t help you moving forward.?

Kansas has been awful on the road this season, as they are just 1-6 ATS, with three games going over the total and four going under. They are averaging 76.7 points per game and giving up 70.2 per contest.

TCU is coming off a big win on Saturday, as they went into Ames and upset Iowa State, winning 92-83. It was the first win for the Horned Frogs against a Top 25 team on the road in 21 years. Kendric Davis scored a season-high 22 points, while Kouat Noi, Desmond Bane and Alex Robinson each had 17.

TCU is 6-6 ATS at home this season, with six games going over and six going under the total. They are averaging 76.2 points per game and giving up 68.7 per contest.

Last Meeting

These teams met earlier this season in Lawrence and it was the Jayhawks winning 77-68 and covering the 6-point spread. The game went under the total of 151.5. The Horned Frogs actually played pretty well in that contest but they had no answer for Lawson who had 31 points. It should be noted that Vick had 12 points in that contest and he was the only other KU player in double-figures.

Key Stats

The Jayhawks are 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Jayhawks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. the Big 12. The Jayhawks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Monday games. The Under is 35-16-1 in the Jayhawks last 52 road games. The Over is 4-0 in the Horned Frogs last 4 vs. the Big 12.

Kansas vs. TCU Free Picks

This is a difficult game to call, as Kansas is depleted, while TCU is coming off a huge win against Iowa State. I definitely can?t back Kansas on the road, as they have been awful this season away from home. I lean a little bit to TCU but I think the better choice is to play the total. The total in their last meeting was 151.5 and I think there is some value in betting Monday?s game over the total at the current number.

Kansas vs. TCU ATS Pick: Over 148 at BetDSI.eu
Kansas vs. TCU Score Prediction: TCU 77, Kansas 73

Kansas Jayhawks at TCU Horned Frogs

As we head into the final month of the college basketball regular season, the teams that have a shot at winning a National Championship this year will be looking to step up into a higher gear. It is always a good idea to head into March Madness on a good run of form, as the teams that finish the regular season well are every often the ones that end up making a deep run in the tournament.

Of course, as some teams rise, others are going to fall, leading fans and bettors to question whether they will be a good bet once the brackets have been put together. One team that is certainly struggling at the moment is one that we have come to expect more from over the years.

The Kansas Jayhawks started the season with an impressive unbeaten run, but they are seeing the losses starting to add up, causing their stock to drop in the process. They head to Texas as a 3-point underdog at YouWager.eu on Monday night as they go up against the TCU Horned Frogs.

When: Monday, February 11 at 9:00 p.m. EST
Where: Ed and Mae Schollmaier Arena, Fort Worth
TV: ESPN

Why bet on the Kansas Jayhawks

The Kansas Jayhawks looked as though they were going to be a force to be reckoned with this season, winning their opening 10 games, which included 3 wins against ranked opponents. Things have gone off the rails since then, though, as they went 8-6 through their next 14 games, while over the last couple of weeks they have lost 4 of 7.

It?s a little surprising to see Kansas sitting in the middle of the pack in the Big 12, a game and a half behind Kansas State, who they lost to last week. That defeat put the Jayhawks at 7-4 in conference play, and it also likely means that they will slip a little further down the national rankings. The Jayhawks have not been a good cover bet away from home this season, going 1-6 ATS on the road, including 0-4 ATS as a road underdog.

Why bet on the TCU Horned Frogs

TCU are not that far behind the Jayhawks in terms of wins and losses, going 17-6 on the season, but it is the quality of teams that they have beaten that has them sitting well below Kansas in the national rankings. The Horned Frogs are coming off a big win against #17 Iowa State over the weekend, but that represented the first time that they had beaten a ranked team in 4 attempts this season.

Much like their Monday night opponent, TCU have struggled mightily in conference play, going just 5-5 versus Big 12 opposition. The Horned Frogs have covered the spread just once in their last 4 games and are 6-6 ATS overall this season as a home favorite. They have just 1 win against Kansas in their last 10 meetings.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I?ll admit that I do not like the poor performance that the Jayhawks have had on the road this season against the spread, but I do like them here. I think TCU might just have a little bit of a letdown after their big weekend win, allowing the Jayhawks to nab the close win.

Best Bet: Kansas Jayhawks 74 TCU Horned Frogs 72

Guy's big shots finish No. 4 Virginia's rally over No. 8 UNC
February 11, 2019
By The Associated Press

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) Kyle Guy scored 20 points, including back-to-back 3-pointers in the final two minutes, to help No. 4 Virginia beat No. 8 North Carolina 69-61 on Monday night.

De'Andre Hunter also had 20 points for the Cavaliers (21-2, 9-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), who played with veteran poise down the stretch after trailing for a good chunk of the second half.

The Cavaliers were coming off a second loss this season to No. 2 Duke and arrived in Chapel Hill facing the prospect of their first losing streak of any kind in two years. Yet Guy and his teammates rallied from seven down in the final eight minutes to snap UNC's seven-game winning streak.

Coby White scored 17 points to lead the Tar Heels (19-5, 9-2), who were off to their best start in league play under 16th-year coach Roy Williams. UNC shot just 35 percent for the game.

NO. 14 KANSAS 82, TCU 77

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Devon Dotson scored 25 points, including six free throws in the final 40 seconds of overtime, and Kansas beat TCU for its second win in a row while starting four freshmen.

After blowing a 12-point lead in the second half, the Jayhawks (19-6, 8-4 Big 12) never trailed in overtime. They broke the final tie on K.J. Lawson's jumper with 1:09 left before Dotson sealed it at the free-throw line.

Dotson also had 10 rebounds for one of the three double-doubles for Kansas. Ochai Agbaji had 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Dedric Lawson, a junior and the only non-freshman starter, had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Desmond Bane had 18 points for TCU (17-7, 5-6), and Kendric Davis scored 16.

Tuesday?s 6-pack

Six top minor league prospects of the Atlanta Braves:

1) Austin Riley, 3B? Josh Donaldson will keep Riley in AAA this season.

2) Ian Anderson, P? Went to HS 10-15 miles from Armadillo World HQ.

3) Mike Soroka, P? Was 2-1, 3.51 in five major league starts LY.

9) William Contreras, C? Younger brother of Cubs? C Wilson Contreras.

14) Kolby Allard, P? 10 of Atlanta?s top 14 prospects are pitchers.

25) AJ Graffanino, SS? Son of former big leaguer Tony Graffanino.

Quote of the Day
?We?re not developing quarterbacks as we should. We?re not developing offensive linemen as we should.?
AAF co-founder Bill Polian

Tuesday?s quiz
What was the name of the USFL team that Steve Spurrier coached in the mid-80?s?

Monday?s quiz
Hank Aaron played LF for the Milwaukee Braves in his first major league game at Wrigley Field, in 1954; Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner played LF for the Cubs that day.

Sunday?s quiz
Eight NFL teams have won only one Super Bowl: Jets, Chiefs, Bears, Rams, Bucs, Saints, Seahawks and Eagles.

Tuesday?s List of 13: Nobody asked me, but??

13) Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray chose football over baseball Monday, ending speculation as to whether he would show up at Oakland?s training camp later this week.

Murray forfeits the vast majority of his $4.66M signing bonus from the A?s, but he?ll make a lot more than that when he gets picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. Read Monday that Murray winds up earning $210,000 from the A?s, for pretty much doing nothing.

The 58th overall pick in last year?s NFL draft got a contract worth $4.86M, so as long as Murray is picked higher than 58th (which he will be), he makes money on this deal.

Meanwhile, A?s had the 9th pick in the MLB draft LY and totally wasted it. No bueno. They do retain Murray?s baseball rights, but those are basically worthless now.

12) With Hall of Fame baseball player Frank Robinson passing away this past week, there were pictures of him posted on the Interweb; one of them was when he was managing the Nationals, in 2005 or 2006. He is leaning against the front rail of the dugout.

You look right behind the dugout and you can see the fans in the front row; one of the fans is Brett Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court judge who was under scrutiny last year for how much money he spent back then on tickets to Nationals? games. Pretty sweet seats he had.

11) Cincinnati Bengals? new offensive coordinator is Brian Callahan, whose father Bill coached the Oakland Raiders for a while; the Bengals? new head coach is Zac Taylor, who played QB for Bill Callahan at Nebraska.

10) Weird stat: Duke hasn?t won or shared the ACC regular season title since 2010; they haven?t won it by themselves since 2006.

9) Tennessee is 22-1 and ranked #1 in country, even though none of their players were top 100 recruits nationally coming out of high school.

8) Indians? SS Francisco Lindor has a right calf strain that will keep him sidelined from 7-9 weeks, which makes him doubtful to start the regular season.

7) From Tyler Bischoff:

UNLV?s basketball team has never had a defense finish outside the top 200 in kenpom.com?s defensive efficiency rating. This goes back to 2002.

With seven games left this season, Rebels are ranked #238 in defensive efficiency, which helps explain their 12-11 record. Losing their best player Shakur Juiston for the season was a back-breaker.

6) Once you watch an AAF game on TV and you hear the replay official as he gives his verdict to the referee, it is obvious that the NFL has to do this next year, just to give transparency to the replay process. Makes the broadcast more interesting.

5) Three of eight AAF teams ran 70+ plays in Week 1; NFL teams rarely run 70 plays in a game, so it looks like the shorter play clock will result in more action during their games.

4) New Orleans Saints hired Darren Rizzi as special teams coordinator; he spent the last eight years as Miami?s special teams coach.

3) Los Angeles Rams hired Wes Phillips as their new TE?s coach; he worked with Sean McVay in Washington and is the son of Rams? DC Wade Phillips.

2) When the Texas Longhorns were recruiting Patrick Mahomes, they recruited him as a DB, not a quarterback, which makes you question what the hell were they thinking about? How many QB?s in the NFL right now played at Texas?

1) It snowed in Las Vegas Sunday night; that doesn?t happen much. There was a video on Twitter of a guy driving around Las Vegas, with the traffic lights and street lights both out, but all the casinos were lit up like usual. Was a little eerie, though.
