I just hope these states that are opening aren't doing it too quickly. Really, really rooting for them. If it backfires, it could set us back a lot. What happened to the plan of waiting 2 weeks of downward cases before going to stage one? Some states opening are still on the upswing? I don't get it.

When this is over, I think we might find that the vast majority of people weren't affected seriously by this.

We still have under 100 cases in my county. 3 died.

If you look at the north east statistics....looks like a battle zone. If you look at other states.....some aren't so bad. I don't know.....but I too am hoping for the best.

Your state is right on the threshold where things could start getting ugly. Right next to my state. Wisconsin hasn't changed that much over the last month but Indiana sure has.

Not even .00001% of Americans have died from this.....less than .001% have gotten it. Percentages are extremely low....but 60,000 deaths is significant.

Clusters are the problem so far. Anywhere there are a lot of people grouped in small settings, there seems to be an issue.

Milwaukee is responsible for most of our cases, and Green Bay is growing due to the packing plants.

By me though? Hundreds of people in and out of Walmart every hour, and grocery stores too......under 100 cases in 3 months.

There are far more little communities like us around the country. I was up north golfing yesterday. Very small communities up there, but mostly shut down. Why? These are places with one or two cases, yet no businesses are open. You could go full tilt in these places, and likely be fine.

I love reminding myself of those stats when I start thinking negatively. :0008

My concern for me, and it's all my fault, is that I have COPD. It's not a bad case, I have no problems with it currently, but I do have it. If I contract this crap I don't think my chances of survival are very good at all. I'm high risk and it scares me somewhat.

I guess you didn't read the article, hedgehog? You misinterpreted the story from the headline probably. The article states the number of cases is likely higher than estimated. I know, reading is hard.

He goes by headlines and memes, not in that order. Of course he didn't read it.

And this is how infectious diseases actually work.
You wake up with a terrible cough, a fever, and severe body aches. Immediately, you rush to the doctor. Unfortunately, you?re diagnosed with #COVID-19. For the last two weeks, you?ve been unaware that you were infected. For the last two weeks, you?ve ignored "the rules," gotten together with some close friends for pizza, had a few people over, even visited some parks and beaches. You figured, ?I don?t feel sick," and "I have the right to keep living my normal life!"
With your diagnosis, you spend the next few days at home on the couch, feeling pretty crappy; but then you?re well again because you?re young, healthy and strong. Lucky you.
But your best friend caught it from you during a visit to your house, and because she didn't know she was contagious, she visited her 82-year-old grandfather, who uses oxygen tanks daily to help him breathe because he has COPD and heart failure. Now, he?s dead.
Your co-worker, who has asthma, caught it too, during your little pizza get-together. Now, he?s in the ICU, and he's spread it to a few others in his family, too--but they won't know that for another couple of weeks yet.
The cashier at the restaurant where you picked up the pizza carried the infection home to his wife, who has MS, which makes her immuno-suppressed. She?s not as lucky as you, so she?s admitted to the hospital because she?s having trouble breathing. She may need to be placed in a medically-induced coma and intubated; she may not get to say goodbye to her loved ones. She may die surrounded by machines, with no family at her bedside.
Think about all the people those people came into contact with.
All because you couldn't stand the inconvenience of a mask; of staying home; of changing your familiar routines for just a little while.
It?s not all about YOU! Grow up.

What are we averaging now, about 2500 per day?

What's your guess for May deaths per day?

I know that all the states with hardly any cases a month ago, now have thousands. How can it start coming down, until most of us have had it?
