Stats as of March 31st 11:59am EST - World Health Organization

754,948 confirmed cases

202 countries, areas or territories with cases

36,571 deaths

Current Population of Planet Earth = 7.78 Billion

Currently 36,571 deaths worldwide, it would sure suck if you were one of them, but on a World Population scale that number is nothing. And almost all that have died were already unhealthy, and most were elderly. And yes if things get 20 or 30 x worse then they are now, the numbers are still really low on a world scale. Again, not great news but statistically speaking not zombie apocalypse kind of news.

The most positive news so far is that some countries are reporting that they are "Flattening the Curve", so that is good news for sure.

And who knows maybe we will have a cure in 6 months or so:shrug:

Maybe Trumps "My Pillow" guy will come up with a cure quicker then that time frame?:142smilie

Or,
they need to use Belarus president and your theory.

Has your big boy Trudeau contributed anything towards the virus?

1st off....he's not "my big boy", I did not vote for him, but with that said he's our PM and in a times like this I am glad he's stepping up and I'll support him or he'll "be my big boy" as you put it. Him and his (our) gov't have done well (like most World Leaders have done).

The Canuck gov't has done well trying to save small business and of course looking after those that have lost their jobs (or not working for time being). Most Canadians getting $8,000 dollars each, which is a good thing in this time of crisis.

The world economy will be taking a giant shit in next 6 months or so, Canada (and others) doing their best to limit the damage.

As I said most World gov'ts have stepped up, good on em:Yep:

Oh and as for the people of Canada, from what I have seen people seem to be following the "stay the fuck home" advice. And if you go out (grocery store for example) there are tons of precautions in place. Most places won't even take cash (don't want to touch "dirty" money).

Thanks for not using that annoying smiley:lol:

And for the most part from what I have seen the World has rallied nicely behind their leaders (gov't) and put politics aside. In a time of crisis people usually do the right thing and World Leaders are people too. I am proud of what my gov't has done with this whole Covid-19 thing and most around the world can say the same about their gov't (leaders), not all, but most.

I guess what I meant was you're not an American so you have no business commenting on American politics or the President.
Thanks for giving us all the other info though......

Sadly when you border the USA you do, many of his decisions effect me, I wish they didn't but they do. Oh and Viruses and the Environment don't have anything to do with land borders, many of his decisions effect more then just the USA. I wish Trump had nothing to do with outside the USA, but sadly that ain't true.

Can't your government make its own decisions?

Thankfully it does but when millions of dollars in trade takes place between your two countries every day and when the USA gets most of its fresh water from Canada and a million other things the two countries share you can't ignore your Southern Neighbour. I wish we could ignore Trump, but you can't. Just like the USA can't ignore Canada, both countries share too much. No two countries on Earth trade more goods between one another then Canada and USA.

Anyway back with Covid-19......

Back to bad news..........stop wearing masks, leave em to people that need it, sick of reading stories of Health Care workers around the world dying because they didn't have access to proper medical equipment. Save the masks (and other shit) for those that need it.

You want to eliminate the death toll, that is a great way to start, don't be a selfish prick.

Trudeau's response has been lacking right from the get go. The Americans and Aussies had their people out of China quick, while Trudeau took how long??? What about the border situation? What about screening for passengers returning? Don't try to sugar coat Trudeau's performance by deflecting as to how Trump is handling this.

My brother is an ER nurse and he asked me to send him any face masks/respirators I had so I did. If you have any that you can spare, please consider donating them. I'll give you my brother's address if you want to send directly to someone that is asking for help.

On the course!

I think the numbers are refuting that. Every state should have more than they need.

I mentioned a week ago that if you had the virus, you were in the golden days of it. The numbers show that parts of this country are only days away from deciding who gets care, and who doesn't. I pray that doesnt fall on anyone you or I know.

At this point, the N95 is a pipe dream. I sent him the ones I used for sanding drywall.....I think he'll take what he can get if you or anyone else can spare them.

construction equipment stores (asbestos protection) etc pro stores might have them left ?
yellow pages and belly up going businesses ?

some face masks can be disinfected keeping them in oven at 60C / 140F +40mins or longer.
some have rubber/plastic parts that can' t take it but regular paper masks should be ok.

Human Coronaviruses: Insights into Environmental Resistance and Its Influence on the Development of New Antiseptic Strategies:

Sensitivity of SARS-CoV to temperature has also been assayed. The exposure of the virus to a temperature of 56 ?C over 30 min reduced virus titer under an undetectable level, except if SARS-CoV is associated with proteins, such as 20% fetal calf serum (FCS), which bring a protection for the virus. In this case, the temperature needs to reach 60 ?C over 30 min to bring virus titer below the detection limit. This emphasizes the importance of organic material in which viruses could be embedded in the real conditions and could protect the virus, mostly from disinfection procedures.
