wow

davydenko back in form?

beat soderling and verdasco

A couple times every year Davydenko plays his very best tennis and destroys his competition. It is not very often and honestly Davydenko has been on my black balled list for quite some time. Betting against (or for) Davydenko is like playing Russian roulette.

Ghost..maybe take those winnings and put it on Serena's opponent (Elena Makarova +800) tonight. If not today, then load up tomorrow. She needs just one win to overtake Safina for number one in the world but she doesn't seem to have that burning desire to do it here in China.

Serena won 74% behind a low 53% first serve and looked bored throughout the 1-hour 22-minute encounter. "I'm definitely not at 100% but I'm just fighting and trying to do the best I can," Williams said. "It wasn't easy but I felt like I was hitting a clean ball. She's a really good player, she always plays tough." On the possibility of her regaining her number one spot: "I would love to be number one. But I also want to pay the price to be number one. It'll come eventually. And if not, I'll just keep trying."

Will do Wayne
:toast:

I agree...these Williams sisters just don't seem to give an F in these small tourneys....they lose to low ranked players all the time....

SMALL against Serena tonight
and LARGER against her tomorrow if she gets by Makarova

Although, not as frequently as before, it seems as if when one Williams sister goes out, the other follows suit as they like to be together. Especially in an event like this. Makarova is certainly worth half a unit at this price due to what I mentioned previously and the fact that we have already seen quite a few upsets (and near upsets) in the first few two days.

Adding..

Petrova -130 over Hantuchova

Good odds on a player who is 3-0 H2H (36 games to 12), all on this surface or indoor. I think a large part of the reason for that one-sided H2H is Petrova's power - Hantuchova can struggle against big hitters and Petrova falls into that category for me.

This week has been difficult as alot of favorites have been coming through. It is tough to get a good number n any of these players though. As I have stated in the past I don't like to play faves of more than -200 but I am throwing away money on dogs like Kohlschreiber, who got buzzed to the tune of love and one.

Pennetta is playing Zvonareva tonight.....first time they have played each other since that epic collapse by the Russian at the US Open

I wonder who wins this one?
Pennetta saved SIX (!) match points against her at the open, then kicked her ass the final set

Interesting to see if the Russian can get over that mental hurdle

Vera was close to taking their last encounter at the USO in straight sets but she lost a tight second set - and her composure - and then disintegrated in one of the most extraordinary scenes played out on a tennis court.
At one stage she was ripping and tearing at the strapping on her legs while crying and talking to herself constantly. Spectacular viewing. All Pennetta had to do in the third set was keep the ball between the lines and Vera did the rest.

I can't see that happening again - not in this match anyway.Vera will be thirsting for revenge and I think she'll get it.That first defeat in LA to Pennetta was just three matches into Vera's second comeback for the year after she took another break after Wimbledon when it became clear she still wasn't right physically. She's got more matches under her belt now and her crushing of Schiavone in the previous round was the Vera of old. Once she got ahead she never let up and poured on the pressure. I can see a similar scenario developing today.

Vera Zvonereva -160 over Flavia Penetta
Juan Monaco +145 over Ernests Gulbis
Giles Simon -160 over Mikhail Youzhny
