you got to wonder--does it ever occurred to him that the former could not exist without the latter.

Wonder what it is thats makes some think --observing some dude smoking the ole white owl is so "nuturing" to children?

Your lesson for today--- do a demographical summary of San Fran & DC and report back to us about your "model societies" ;)

Can't believe my narrow minded parents offered me choice of boyscouts or little league (took the latter) ---when others were getting to go see the leather and whips at gay day in San Fran. :)

--with that being said I would not object to same sex parents as last resort but to refer to it as preferable would be ridculous--for most.

Great points, Wayne, I should start posting in here to help defray some of Kosars rhetoric now and then....LOL yeah boy scouts and little leage are what NORMAL, american families do, not going to drag shows, having wild parties, cross dressing, etc..........yeah, same sex parents COULD work if it had to, yes better than foster care, but who said those are the two choices (kosar did)....... it just sends the wrong message to kids, b/c if their is 2 dads theres no strong guy to teach them sports, life lessons, about crushes on girls in school, etc etc, and they miss a motherly bond too......with 2 moms, it'll be a miracle if the kid doesnt turn into a whiney, non sports playing, girly-girl, it'd just be a difficult situation I'd have to assume, but yes love from parents is better than foster care, I agree there

lol- what took ya so long, Larry? You're right, we should teach our kids that it is NOT ok to be gay. They should be inculcated from age three that gay people are filthy and disgusting and that they should NOT be tolerated. It is sick and wrong and personally adversely affect each and every straight person every day of our lives. They should be shunned and mocked whenever possible.

When asked by our kids why they are different, we shall tell them that there comes a time in everybodys life (usually between ages of 11 and 14, although there are exceptions) when we must decide whether to go gay or not. They not not born this way and these heathens are gross and sickening to us normal folks.

Is this pretty close to how your heart to heart chats with your children go, Larry?

Yeah, Larry was a little off-base........but, I'm shocked your post drips of sarcasm, surprising!......shunning gays, telling them it's a disgrace, etc is WRONG, only nutso religious zealots etc think thats right........BUT, encouraging and supporting the flambuoyancy, marching, equal rights stuff, chip on my shoulder, everrybody is out to get me attitude is wrong too, there needs to be a middle ground

Look NyGuy,

This thread is about the fact that a movie was made about gay guys and whether it's 'ok' or not and you're talking about wild sex parties, orgies, marching(oh the horror), equal rights and how you're against that, and the boy scouts.

A movie was made about gay guys. Big f'in deal.

And the bigot detector always starts going off when someone starts off with 'I have a black friend' or 'I have a gay cousin', to try to 'prove' some sort of tolerance.

Personally I won't see broken back, Trans America or the Truman Capote movie even on video, but if its the kids your concerned about, I'd be more concerned about shit like 50 cent movie and other stuff glorifiing drugs, guns murder etc.

on another note I thought Cinderella Man was a movie done incredibly well and was really over looked, all of the main 3 characters deserved recognition.

Man, do you read the threads or just spout off at people beforehand? Wayne/DTB mentioned the thing about boy scouts and San Francisco, I just agreed with him......and, I know what the original thread was about, it was just that Nosigar, DTB, put in some great points and I wanted to side with them, I didnt start off with going off topic......and, the fact I said I have a gay cousin and hes cool is a fact not trying to defend myself, just stating that......maybe you should read the other posts in a thread before making accusations, or say something positive for once would that pain you   or that messes up your sarcastic/mean guy persona :mj07: :mj07:

Last time I checked even gays have freedom of speech and expression! You would think that since the movie is rated R, parents would have contol over allowing their youngsters ability to see the movie. Personally, I have no desire to see the movie nor do I care that it won a award (those awards usually go to strange movies anyways), but if you don't like the subjext of the movie then don't go. I never have understood why people bitch about entertainment like Howard Stern etc...turn the channel and avoid the personalty or subject there's tons of other entertainment options available

hey Kosar, you are close

homosexuality is a disease. it was defined as such until the psychiatric profession was sabotaged in the 1970's

why such a behavior so detrimental to one's health should be glorifed is pathetic....and not only pathetic, but is liable for twisting natural behavior and health in our youth/families by portraying such behavior as "normal"....any secular behaviorist/psychodynamic theory in any honest intellectual discussion would label this as an insult on human health

even you agnostic/athiests/intellectual-elitist-arrogant-know-it-alls should be able to see past that one

And let's not even get into the whole homosexuality being a choice thing. Who the f*ck would choose to subject themselves to the rampant bigotry of the millions of homophobes and gay bashers in this country? I mean, seriously.

are you telling me you promote all behavior including child molesting/bigomy/animalism(whatever the name for it is)

some people believe that homosexuality is a disease and is a negative force in regards to human health and society

and we have plenty of data to back that claim up (check any epidemiology book)

and you call us bigots given that you decry other human behavior?

where or where does YOUR moral tape measure stop?

should we all line up and mock/belittle your theories/worldview?

LMAO!!...Love the way at first it is "some people"...next sentence it is "we"! :mj07:

"some people" believe the same about masterbation, but I bet you've still done it ;) (nothin' personal bud, we all have!)

"some people" believe the same about blacks.

"some people" believe sex before marriage is totally wrong...

...basically "some people" believe a lot of different things...

It's not so much King Kong, kosar, I reckon there should be more Black Hawk Down's, and Behind Enemy Line's, so we can all cheer every time the American Hero kills an evil foreigner...

...oh, speaking of Foreigner, wasn't Animalism a Def Leppard album?

shamrock my friend....

if you are a movie fan you're missing out on a great performance by the actor who played capote.....

it has nothing to do with his sexuality...

the movie is basically about how capote interviewed the 2 killers of a kansas farm family for his book..."in cold blood".....

highly recommended....

Since when did the Golden Globes or Oscars give out awards for promoting moral behavior? These are awards based on the artistic quality of a movie.. the acting... the plot...the cinematography... the direction... the musical score etc.

All of which, if you have seen the movie, are excellent.

Check past winners of movie awards, how many promote or feature moral abuses that violate religious rules MUCH higher on the 10 Commandments (or whatever scale you use to judge morality.)

I suppose there isn't anything wrong with thinking homosexuality is a sin, but what irritates me is selective morality. Where is the consistancy in moral outrage or enforcing religous viewpoints.

ok Al if its highly recommended, then its on my netflix list tonight. I am indeed a movie fan, probably watch more than I should, but what else is there to do in freezing New England this time of year

And I don't particular have a axe to grind with the movies mentioned earlier, I know Heath Ledger is a decent actor, saw him in several different films, The other co star is generally ok also, Jake Gyelenhal (sp). Just other than the scenery, probably could find something I enjoy more.

I remember the actor your referring to in TWISTER & BOOGIE NIGHTS, hard to picture him in such a serious role. I'll check it out.

Are you referring to yourself here? Because there is certainly not a single poster at this site that is as much of an intellectual-elitist-arrogant-know-it-all than you. Do you even read the tone of your own posts before you accuse others of being exactly how you are?

Weasel- Yes, Goatback Mountain is pretty solid. If you want to win an Oscar, come up with a movie about a gay retarded man who overcame being sexually abused by a priest when he was young. You would clean house at the academy awards!

Do you not find/use the same condescending tone towards people who get their moral code from a religious book namely the Bible?

Where do you get your moral code from?

What makes such an unnamed/mysterious source so much more credible from one which many use?

Also, love the myopic fools who use the "hypocrisy" argument as if they themselves are not as hypocritical as anyone. To use such a measure and "judge" someone else as being "hypocritical" is as nauseating as anything. No one is not hypocritical, but that does in no way mean people are not able to deem right from wrong. To conclude as such is not only unreasonable, it is contrary to reason.

obviously, in your moral code, you disapprove of hypcrites

should i make some ridiculous comment and insinuation about maybe you think that "God sent a hurricane to New Orleans and that it should all be chocolate" (or some other incoherent statement) just because you have a moral code disapproving in some way of hypocrisy?
