How long will it take before there is no law against them. Either marrage or just civil contract. Marrage U S wide I say about 8 to 10 years. Civil contract 2 maybe 3 years. I know some places say civil is ok now. But that will all be faught out in the courts.
The dams are being open and the water is starting to run. It's been like that in our history. We Have all these old men that think they know whats best for everyone. Starting with a womans right to vote. That took about 10 years. A womans right to choose what is best for her body. That took a little longer around 12 years. Interracial marrages here's a biggie. That took about 40 years. Yes for some you young guys here we had this law in America for many years. They killed and put folks in jail over such BS. Alabama in 2001 was last state to change its laws to make it legal. So Im not sure why were worried about the gays. They will end up getting just about what they want. Oh ya another biggie back to the old west. A womans right to smoke. There was a law at one time against it. Probition worked well to didn't it. It's like we just have so much time on our hands to worry about BS. And we let the bigger problems of the day stand still. History tells us what's going to happen. So whats your best guess. How Long?

And then the next natural step is polygamy, polyandry, and eventually the legalization of bestiality. What a country!

ocelot are you saying were going back to our days of old. I just cant see any man whos had one wife would want more. If you think were going to go way back. Well then sheep would be the best, I guess. But they dont cook or wash clothes. So I dont know if we need that. I was looking more for how many years before its all ok. Seems in our history folks make big deals out of certain things but they wiast there time. Because they become law anyway. I dont think they will ask you and I what we think. It will be like everything else in polatics now days. Whos bringing the cash.

Want a look at the future--take a look at Denmark who opted this marriage route in 1997 and has progressively went to notoriety of porn capital of the world--and if you think that being far fetched in America---consider the secular lefts agenda's just this year--gay marriage-ACLU defending NAMBLA a child ponography site ect.
I believe everyone has the right to live and let live---but Hellen Keller can see which road these fanatics are headed.

Someone has to draw the line somewhere at some point in time.
With that being said I don't necessarily think its the govs job to do it.

thought you were going to ask what posters at the site were gay and how long they had been gay, lmfao!

I would speculate that there are several gay posters but I would also imagine none would admit to being gay (although I seem to remember one of the softballers being gay?).

Seriously, I don't really care who here is gay.

i have no opinion on the subject, but was wondering why, all of a sudden are they pushing for this. but on the other hand, isn't it discrimination not allowing gays to marry.

How gay marriages directly affect anyone else and why some people feel they can determine who can marry who is beyond me. This is the 21st century, not the Dark Ages.

There are much, much, MUCH more important things to worry about in this country.

I was very happy to see the Mayor of San Fran tell Bush to fuk off yesterday.

I thought it was about some gay porn version of "Dumb and Dumber", although I guess the post title should have then been "Gay and Gayer".

Seriously, why is all of this such a hot topic lately. Timing of the election? I've kept up with all the recent news with this but seems to have come up from nowhere.

I'll tell you how it affects the rest of the people that are married..........it makes a mockery of the values of marriage. If there are no standards set forth on what marriage entails then does it not stand to reason that marriage is as big a joke as bill and bob getting hitched. It makes the rest of the married population look as if there is no big deal to getting married.

I hate to sound like my grandfather but this is just another sign that this country is going to hell in a handbasket. And this time you can not Blame George Bush!

Who are you or anyone else to judge how much another person can love another person, whether they be straight or gay? If two people love and care enough about each other and want to get married, that shouldn't bother anyone. I would think the over 50% of heterosexuals who get married and then divorced in this day and age in much more of a 'mockery' to the values of marriage.

Like I said this is now the 21st century. All this talk sounds an awful like previous discrimination towards women, blacks, etc.

What the hell, nothing better than junior rolling into Dad and Dads bedroom and watching Dad throw it into Dads ass qualified by a marriage license.
It's all about the benefits anyway, a marriage license entitles them to many medical and legal benefits that the "couples" think they are entitled to.
You think Health Ins is outrageous now , wait until the surge hits the till, yikes, all we need is another excuse for the Ins companies to skyrocket the premiums

I am someone who is entitled to their own damn opinion and I will express it whenever the fohk I want that is who I am! I think it is a friggin joke for two men or two women to get married, call it what you want ( backwards, narrow minded, obsolete thinking...whatever the liberal jargon is slated for use this week) but I think it is a crock and should be considered at best a civil union. If there are no limits placed on what can be done then I will be loading my weapon in a little while and head off to the local bank and rob it...........but wait there is a law against that.......Why?........ because it is wrong.......who says it is wrong?.....the people that made the laws of the land.....why?....... because it is immoral to steal.........but who's morals?.........who cares it sure makes me happy to steal money, and who has the right to keep me from being happy?

I will not argue this point with you anymore Hoops, I have a strong conservative opinion and you can respect my opinion or you can ignore it...........sup to you!

PRO190, You have GOTTEN why this is a big deal exactly. The scoop as to why the gays want this little piece of paper is that if they have it then the Dad that works can now have the AIDS Dad's health costs covered. And when 6 Dads can all get married together then the 5 that don't work or work where they don't get health insurance can all get coverage from the 1.

The end result is that insurance companies will QUIT offering coverage to spouses and dependents and the REAL families in this country will lose out.

Personally, I don't care how much pipe-smoking and butt-rutting these people want to do. And I'm cool with them getting some kind of government health care. Frankly though, until there IS some kind of national health care I would like to keep the coverage I have.

Call it far-fetched but its a slippery slope in my opinion. Once society says homo marriage is legal what is the basis for society denying polygamy?

Some dude on TV was just saying men and woman have'nt got it right in this country either. 40% are divorced in first 5 years and 52% by 7 years. Dam thats a lot of folks that give up easy. I made it 19.5 years my first go at it and im up to 18 the second time. You would think folks would give it more then 5 to 7 years. Biggest cause he said was money. The next was money and then there new lovers. Or said another way adultry. I wonder if after there first married experiance any of these folks deside Gay is the way. Anyway seems it will all come to pass. And I have a hunch no one will ask our opinion.
I was just wondering how long you all thought it might take. Right now there playing politics with it. And I agree with it seems all those running for Prez. Some type of civil uioin but marrage not right way to go. Hell I just found out my old company American Standard and GE already let these folks share and give insurance and 401K to each other. With out being married.

I generally do not discriminate against anyone as its their business who they are with and what they are doing with
their lives.

I will relate one story that made me uncomfortable at the Buford Mall here in Georgia. This was last year.

My wife was in the restroom and I was sitting outside waiting for her.

A group of people walked up. There were about
five people three woman and two men. So this one guy steps out
and up to this other guy that was waiting for them and kisses
him on the lips. Maybe 10 seconds. I was shocked and the people around me and the others in the group seemed to be also. Not that they shouldn't do that in public but a marriage license would seem to condone that behavior as other married couples do that in public.

Imagine airport greetings with men giving men sloppy kisses and woman latching on to other woman in baggage claim.

How do I explain this to my daughter ?

Its goes against everything America stands for as far as family values and the sanctity of marriage.

I don't believe it should be accepted as the norm and allowed as a marriage choice for gay people.

Children have enough complexity in their lives now without this being held out as a example of life in America.

scottie, ma boy,

Take a walk along Castro Street in San Francisco and you will see that all the time (and then some). What would you explain to your daughter if she saw a man and a woman kissing? Nothing. I think you should try that same response when you see two men or two women kissing.

Its called acceptance of other life styles. If you have to tell your daughter something how bout "... maybe they love one another." Once this country shakes the puritanical hold the religous right has on it, the quicker we can progress out of the seventeenth century.

I always thought that people who are disgusted by two human beings showing affection for one another is threatened by such action. I think one needs to get in touch with exactly why they feel threatened by seeing others show affection for one another. Please do not take this statement as my condoneing PDA's. I don't like that whether gay or straight.

If its gonna happen, doesnt matter if its gay or straight. Once again the key word is acceptance. Doesnt mean you have to do it but let others live their lives like they want to as long as they do not interfere with your rights to live your life as you want too. Get out of their bedroom and stay in yours with whomever you want to be there with.

Personally, I prefer to be doing the mombo in the sheets with Shania Twain. But if someone wants to dock their love yacht in some guys mud canal, so be it. Don't bother me none.

It's called 'parenting'. How about explaining to them that not all boys like other girls and not all girls like other boys. I think they just might find that out sooner or later.

As Eddie pointed out much more eloquently than I, it's about acceptance. And the only possible way it can affect someone else is if they let it...then it's their problem and their own insecurities that they have to deal with.

Bluemound- I usually respect any and all opinions except when it deals with ignorance and when that opinion is in itself disrespectful to others. How you can somehow relate allowing two people getting married regardless of sex to robbing a bank is extremely weak and really doesn't make any sense at all.

Disrespectful? I don't see it! Ignorrant, Only to a liberal!

And the bank robbery............it is an example of how our moral system sets up our laws! It is immoral to rob a bank, is it not? I think that it is immoral for two people that are the same sex to get married! My opinion.

As far as getting out and demonstrating against it.........No probably not...........speaking my peace when some dipstick gives his opinion on how great it is and there should be a parade to celebrate it...........yes!
