btw...how likely is a draw in this contest scenario?...i`m sure they have some sort of point apportionment included for the draw possibility...but do they really want to see any draws?....chances of ward getting a gift draw on home turf?...been a bad start in the tourney for americans(imo,it was set-up to play out that way, considering the match-ups and venues)...

not sure...

I am on it! (Draw) You never know... and there are some very nice odds out there :toast:

True that Ghost, but that's a BIG if. Ward just might fight like a dick knowing he has some help at ringside. This one could be a dud. Sucks big time. I'm sure Kessler would love to have 1 judge from Argentina, 1 from Italy and 1 from fukin Rangoon rather than all 3 PLUS the ref from sunny California. I'm jumping ship on my Kessler bet if I can find the right price and lay it off. Playing versus a stacked deck isn't what the Dr. ordered.

Judges changed

Judges changed

Kessler-Ward officials set

International judges headed to Oakland

By Boxing Bob Newman

After much haggling, and transcontinental communications, the debate over the officials for Saturday?s WBA Super Middleweight title fight between champion Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward, the final fight of round one of the Super Six Boxing Classic in Oakland, California has been settled. Judge Micheal Hook of Sweden and judge Stanley Christodoulou of South Africa will leave the WBA convention in Medellin, Colombia on Friday morning and will arrive at the airport in San Francisco that same evening. This will be in time to join California judge Steve Morrow and California referee Jack Riess at ringside Saturday night for the main event. There had been much consternation from the Kessler camp over a proposed all-California team of officials. The Super Six Boxing Classic contract, which was signed by all the participants involved called for two neutral officials at each fight in the tournament. WBA sanctioning of the fight as a title fight was in jeopardy, but is now restored.

Rest of the Super Six Predict Ward-Kessler
http://www.fightnews.com/?p=30000#more-30000

"Added Abraham: ?Because I have not ever seen an Andre Ward fight live or on tape, I cannot say much. But Kessler is the favorite in this fight nevertheless. I have seen Kessler fight many times and he is very clever and very strong. I have to give the advantage to Kessler because of his strength, experience and cleverness."

Love that he Abraham has never seen Ward. These guys mean nothing to King Arthur.

At the Las vegas Hilton today, Ward bet down to +120. $$$$ pouring in on Ward all over town. I laid off all my Kessler money but it may just work out as now instead of -180, I can find him -140. I may just have to re-invest here at a more favorable price. Still feel Kessler is the class in this race.

That's to be expected.....people in America know Andre Ward the Olympic Gold Medalist....they don't know Kessler.....the public thinks this will be easy for Ward.....he could win, but I see this as a MUCH MORE difficult fight than Miranda.....Kessler handled Andrade like no one else. From boxrec:

Bout Summary

"Andrade withstood an all-out assault by Kessler, refusing to fall despite being hit 348 times during the bout. Andrade landed only 95 times himself, but fought valiantly."

In my opinion, Kessler is MUCH better than people realize.

True that Ghost. Andrade is like a block of granite. If you watch the video, he gets cracked big-time by Kessler, but he has incredible wiskers. This isn't Miranda and this isn't Andrade. Ward has to now face a very highly skilled boxer whereas Kessler will face a guy that I don't think is in the same league as Andrade as far as absorbing solid shots to the chin.

the speed and awkwardness of calzaghe frustrated kessler...this could be an issue...
This is the one thing that pops into my head for this fight.

As far as judges and scrutiny, I don't think these rip off merchants give two shits about scrutiny as there are never any repercussions to their paid off, shitty decisions.

Good luck all!! :toast:

Has been a few comparisons between Calzaghe and Ward as far as style of boxing giving Kessler problems. Ward is not Calzaghe. Joe Calzaghe beat up everybody he faced. What better way to deal with Ward than having faced Joe C., if they have similiar boxing styles as many are speaking too.

IMO Ward looked just a little intimidated at the weigh in, I dont know if this means too much though, maybe its a good thing, so he wont make the mistake and brawl with Kessler.

Both look to be in good shape.

I'm a bit torn, when I first heard about this match I was all over Kessler, but maybe Ward has a shot. If he wins it will most likely be on points...

i pray you`re right...a kessler stoppage by ward would not be a good thing...the legit fighters that ward faced(all 2 of em,buchanan and miranda)went the distance with him...

a stoppage,imo,really tarnishes kessler`s legacy.....

As soon as I get my act together this a.m., I am going on a best price hunt on Kessler. Enough is enough. The reason the price is lower here in Vegas is the Californians are here betting Ward. Thank you raisin heads. If Ward beats Kessler, God bless him; he beat a world class guy and deserves a lot of credit. I feel he is in just a little over his head, though.

Kessler is -180 at Pinnacle, can't find a better price. I could wait live betting and hope Ward does well the first 2 rds, but i just don't see it.

Will roll the dice and take Kessler inside (+200) and hedge it with Kessler dec.

Ward is over his head in this one indeed.

kessler ain`t exactly fleet of foot(not slow,though)...but his hand speed is good and he has an excellent jab and a dangerous, sneaky left hook...

i think it starts out as a track meet and degenerates into an ugly clinch-fest..

GW-please note Kessler's right cross and Ward's habit of holding his left hand down low. Kessler's camp knows this for sure and will wait for the right time to strike. After the 6th round, the left arm hangs down, Ward gets caught, clinch city.

Kessler controls distance extremely well and can time and explode on his oponnent without exposing himself too much.

Timing will KO Ward, his speed won't help him.
