I would like Schiano at Michigan....like the sound of that......hope it happens.....and not that this fact means a hill of beans, I think hiring him would excite the on-edge fan base right now a lot more than Ferentz.

Would be a nice hire for Mich imo. You guys will be chopping wood in no time.

I like Kelly over Schiano as well, and would think that Kelly would be a nice fit for Mich, given that he is obviously familiar w/ the recruiting territory. He was also on my LSU short list even though he has no ties to the south that I'm aware of...

Not to be all in agreement here, but i rate Kelly over Schiano as well.....after creating a dynasty at GVSU, he took over CMU and w/ a program that our current OC could do nothing w/ and won a MAC title and a bowl game in three years.

For whatever reason, UM is not loooking at him.....i have no insight as to why.....there are rumors that UM is uncomfortable with him.....also rumors that he has personal issues that are anchoring him in one place right now.

Maybe CWood could shed some light on the issue, but I can not.

That being said, I'd take Schiano in a heart beat.....anybody who could do that at Rutgers would create a killer at a place like UM.

Kelly has rubbed many important people the wrong way throughout the state of Michigan. He burned more than a few bridges in the high school coaching community during his stay at Central. He's simply not under consideration, and won't be. IMO Kelly will be in the NFL within 4 years so that's not necessarily a bad thing for UM.

I'm told Schiano has been offered the job. Many seem to think he is happy where he is and will not take it.

Michigan's AD could be in a lot of trouble if whoever he hires doesn't make people forget about Les. There are some very upset donors out there about how the Miles hire was botched.

Lot of speculation that Schiano wants to be the guy to replace JoePa.....wonder if that is a factor.....not to be all Mr. Michigan, but he would be nuts to stay at Rutgers if UM offered him.....just my opinion.

Where do they go if Schiano stays put?

Didn't Schiano turn down a "better job" to stay @ Rutgers 2yrs ago ? Who was that ?

He turned down Miami, where he was the DC under Butch Davis.

The thinking has always been that he is going to stay at Rutgers until Joepa hangs it up.

Hard to say. They may have to completely re-evaluate their hiring criteria if they don't want to make another push for Miles. NFL assistants are not being considered at this point. If Marvin Lewis is fired, that could be a name to watch.

Now you're just trying to scare the shit out of us, aren't you!?!?!

Does that mean Ray Ray and Ocho Cinco will be persons of importance on our sideline....lol.

Is Jim Grobe being considered at all....you mentioned him over the weekend.....he just turned down Arky I guess, and I am wondering if he did so because his name mgiht be in the hat for something bigger.

His name has been tossed around but I don't think he's a serious candidate just yet.

I hope this does not sound like I want to just settle for a candidate, but at this point I hope that the offer to Schiano is true and that he takes it.....i'm tired of guessing who the coach is and people melting down over it.

Plus, the longer it lingers, I keep fearing the dreaded phrase "we're promoting from within."

What's the big deal ? Get someone like Tressel...They don't need a big name.... Get a coach with energy that understands the gm and won't be a negative when it comes to recruiting. This is not brain surgery, it's football @ Mich... If you can't win @ mich you can't win. There are many that can do the job, just don't be afraid to hire a likable good football coach. Most of the people they are looking at are high priced look at me guys. Do what the Buckeyes did; forget that Mich Man BS, Hire a football coach.

Might I suggest Greg Davis?

Or heck...even Mack Brown...

Now way man, it is more fun to hear you complain about them, than it would be for me to actually complain about them.

I agree Bryanz.....this is not rocket science....a good X's and O's guy who can motivate his troops and is up to date on modern S/C techniques would be very well at UM and as a fan I would be fine with him.

this team doesn't need a top notch coach by any means, with all the talent they have, they just need a motivator, and good co-ordinator's. I'll coach them for 100K

And what the hell is that supposed to mean???:wtf:

Generally, I think he means that Michigan won't hire a coach with an NCAA violations file (Tressel) or a strength/speed coach that was kicked out of track and field for steroid use (Butch Reynolds).
