I think you're taking my words a little too literally.....Illinois plays like an up and coming SEC team, at least as I see it.....and I would like Michigan to play the same way, perhaps thats an intangible element that Miles could bring......just like if a hot Pac 10 coach was being considered, my thought would be, well maybe he can bring in a little Pac 10 offensive acumen our way.....i think the S/C comments i made are just mixed into that, so I was not all that clear....i dont think there's difference per se between leagues and schools, except that UM is clearly behind the times.....any new coach cant help but upgrade that.....so I was trying to make two thoughts, one specifically on S/C, which anybody from anywhere can improve....the other generally about Miles bringing some of that SEC mentatility that I think is clearly in play with how the Zooker has gotten his talented Illini to play like....of course, any SEC coach could bring that element, so lets just go hire Urban Meyer!
TP, I think what you are trying to say in a round
about way is, the northern schools (Big Ten and
Nebraska in particular), have since day one played
smashmouth running game football due to the
weather conditions come late October and the
month of November. Years ago they have come
to realize that speed and the passing game, (west
coast offense), are passing them by and they need
to adapt and not tomorrow but yesterday. Illinois
is no fluke. They brought in Zook for that very
reason. Nebraska brought in Callahan for that very
reason. It will be an adjustment period for these
schools because you just can't switch gears over
night, but all these programs are realizing that to
keep up with the Florida's and USC's and Sooner's
your going to have to bring in a new mentality.
