My wife and I will enjoy nice tax breaks. We'll be fine. There's going to be a wall on the southern border. Coal mines are going to reopen. All of the manufacturing jobs are coming back to the US. Trump knows more than the generals so he's going to wipe out Isis. It's going to be the best time of my life. Thanks again to all that voted for him. :toast:

Nice to see you on the Trump train, it's going to be amazing the next 8 years :toast:

Cheers to all the people that voted a reality TV star to the most powerful position on the planet. :toast:

You need to come out from that rock you are living under, the present of the US is not the most powerful position on the planet anymore.

Voter fraud is real. Dead people have voted every potus election in our lifetime. I may have pushed it too far calling it a major issue, but have no doubt it exists.

Still don't understand why an ID isn't a requirement

There are a couple reasons some people resist voter ID laws.

1) 20million+ Americans don't have photo IDs (including 18% of all people over 65 years old)
2) IDs cost money, so voter ID laws amount to a poll tax (can't vote for free).
3) Voting isn't like a lot of other government services which could be called "privileges". It is a right. And we should resist any barriers to preventing easy access to voting.

Logistical reasons:
1) Who would decide if the picture matched the person standing there? The volunteers that staff voter precincts? That is a lot of discretion to give a lightly trained volunteer, how would they wield it?

2) There isn't a lot of evidence wide scale fraud exists. I'm sure some does, but getting people to show up multiple times to vote for other people seems fairly difficult to pull off. I question if the potential risk outweighs the extremely limited gain a few extra votes here and there could provide. The resources required to orchestrate this would probably yield fewer extra votes than spending that money on getting legit voters to turn out (just my guess, I can't know for sure).

I've heard a lot about voter fraud, but for me to put any stock in it, I would need to hear an explanation of how it's actually coordinated and to what end. Paint me a picture of exactly how it works, and demonstrate how it has had a statistically significant effect on any election.

Personally I am far more concerned about potential abuses with computer voting with no verifiable paper trail. There have been a lot of in depth articles about the potential problems those create (easily hacked, no paper-trail, connections between the companies that build the machines to political candidates etc.
It seems to me if you wanted to throw an election the absolute least efficient way would be to use the type of fraud that picture IDs could prevent, and much easier to do it on the back end. "lose ballots" corrupt 1 or 2 election officials, hack voting software etc.

I'm not in disagreement. I'm more hopeful than most that by committee, the political lifers will keep Trump in check. His tax plan is a mistake and will create massive long-term debt. I'm a 1%er but I am against lower taxes on the wealthy. I can tell you from experience that one only needs so much to "live" and the leftover is pretty much spent on shit that isn't really necessary in life. I do think that the upper tax brackets need to be changed. 250k in San Fran, LA or metro NY doesn't have as much buying power as it seems . Why don't we have a bracket from 500k-1M, 1M-5M, 5M+ with escalating tax rates- it seems so obvious to me. I do have a problem with how the tax revenue is spent but that's a whole different ball of wax.

I'm not sure how much people here listen to Colin Cowherd but if you go listen to his podcast the morning after the election I think we pretty much nails it (as to why Trump won).

Eddie- I notice less hatred in your tone- cheers to that buddy

Did Whathisnuts really say this?
And he didn't edit his post?
Does he have a fever?
And this is the guy that calls others "dumb?"
Lastly, where do we pay homage?

Ya think? :0003

Politics forum must be absolute shithole to hang out in. Don't say one thing wrong or have something you say get misconstrued or you will pay dearly. Never going down there again.

He's in the 3%, so he will have more money. I would be fucking enraged if it were me.

#3%livesmatter

Myself and 80 of my closest friends are pooling our money together to become part of the 3%.......We'll let you know soon if we're upset or not........:0008

If anyone knows anyone that is in the 3 % that would like to adopt, or marry, I am available for outcalls.

I guess we should be paying homage to saint rather than whatshisnuts.
I don't know what percentile I'm in, nor does anyone care, myself included. I do know that Gary's a stand up guy that I'm always happy to hang out with.

Wineguy,
Nothing you said in this thread was misconstrued, nor did you say "the wrong thing". You also have said you were done with this thread three times already. I don't know if you realize this or not, but once you post something in a thread, it becomes a written record for all to see, yourself included. You may want to re-read your posts specifically before making another post about how your so misunderstood.
So poor little put upon you can quit with the nice guy martyrdom bullshit. You get what you give. Then again, you'll never see this post since you're done with it, right?

Hope this helps,
FDC

He's not? This is a really misguided response. Who do you think has the most powerful position? He is the COMMANDER AND CHIEF of this country. This country has 662 bases across the world in 38 foreign countries. By comparison, Britain, France and Russia have 30 foreign bases combined!

How about the money spent on our military? Well, the U.S. military expenditures are roughly the size of the next seven largest military budgets around the world, combined. That includes China #2, Saudi's #3, Russia #4 and the UK #5. We spend $1.6 trillion on the military. Again, he is the commander and chief and even though he can't technically declare war, he can use the military as he needs.

And this is only one area we dominate in....

If he isn't, who is?
