The Republicans control all three branches of government and the SCOTUS. If you can't throw a bone to 9 fucking people on the opposition in order to pass your legislation, you're incompetent. That's what this boils down to. Republican incompetence. It's a recurring theme.

Politics is nothing if not compromise and negotiation. The kill shot threat comes when one side refuses to give in. It's part of the negotiation process. If you give up at the point, you're incompetent.
