With Brady Sylve going to Alabama, Mickey Johnson leaning elsewhere, and Auburn picking off a number of kids in the state including Travon Reed last year, Is Les losing control of Louisiana?

Sure, Les is losing control of LA:0002

Top 20 LA players per Rivals:

1.Collins LSU Commit #6 player in US per Rivals
2. Johnson LSU Commit #17 player in US per Rivals
3. Landry LSU Commit #18 player in US per Rivals
4. Williams No offer for grades/character
5. Hill LSU Commit
6. Hilliard LSU Commit
7. Beckham LSU Commit
8. McGee LSU Commit
9. Rasco On fence b/w LSU and FSU
10. Eugene LSU Commit
11. Turner LSU Commit
12. Robinson to Aub. Best friend of Trov Reed, plus would have to play somewhere other than LT, which will be occupied by La'el Collins for 4 years.
13. Sylve Bama Commit. Good looking small WR. LSU commits, Landry and Beckham, are higher graded by Rivals and LSU at same position
14. White LSU Commit
15. Turner LSU Commit
16. Fleming No offer for grades. Another problem is LSU stacked at CB now and in this class.
17. Prescott No offer. Solid QB, but LSU went with a young Rivers and Mett.
18. Hunter Gray shirt offered, and will extend offer of Jernigan goes elsewhere. Wanted LSU badly, but feeling hurt that he is behind Johnson.
19. Thomas LSU Commit
20. Johnson. Not from LA, but played HS ball here. Does not bleed purple and gold. Has commitable offer, but we shall see. LSU has him graded just above Hunter, who Rivals favors slightly. immature by all accounts. No big loss at all, as Hunter, who is commited to TCU now, will switch if he gets the call.

Trovon Reed comes from a broken home and leaving state was best for him.

I was just looking at ESPN because they've graded ND's kids more accurately (they're usually the hardest), but if you think Rivals is better, it seems like Les is doing a great job!! He's been slipping recently

ESPN is wonderful. I absorb anything they put out like Hedge absorbs fox news. Glad you do too! Anyway, whatever makes you feel better about your program is just fine by me, Bob:0008

Rasco #9 appears to be a signing day deal to LSU as of email I just received:toast:

If no late defections, this will be one hell of a class!! You know, the kind that produces national titles, yo:toast:

Rivals has us ranked higher than ESPN...always does. In fact, the 2008 rankings by Rivals had next year's Notre Dame senior class ranked #1. The kind of senior class that can lead a team to a national championship.

So, if you want to go by those experts, g'head :0008

Actually, Rivals ranked ND #2 behind Bama in '08, but your 09 class was ranked 21 by rivals and 2010 was ranked 14.

Bottom line, LSU signed almost every target in the state, with the exception of Sylve, Robinson and Johnson. Les is ok, but I appreciate your concern!!!

No actually, they were ranked #1 or I wouldn't have said it. They re-run the rankings once everyone makes it to campus and take out everyone who can't read, is playing baseball or ended up in jail.

Alabama was #1 on signing day in 2008 mostly because they signed 32 players that year even though they didn't have enough scholarships for them. It's a process called oversigning and . . . . listen to me, trying to explain oversigning to an LSU supporter. It's been part of LSU's recruiting MO for the better part of a decade. My apologies. :0008

I'm glad Les has Louisiana locked up, because as you alluded to, LSU doesn't seem attractive to anyone outside of Louisiana.

Good Luck this year!!! :toast:

Not like you to be this annoying, or incorrect. Oversigning does not affect Rivals rankings since they only include the top 20 players. Notre Dame D is going to be good. Should be a solid year for you.....until the bowl, that is:0008

Best of luck going forward. Hope you start to feel better:0074

It does when one of your top 20 guys are part of the ones that can't read, are playing baseball or end up in jail.

Sorry - I didn't know you were so sensitive to the oversigning topic. I'll drop it. :toast:

Auburn has a mighty fine looking class. This is going to be a perennial top 10 program for however long Malzahn stays on before finally taking a HC gig

Good link, poon.

I guess they will tighten up the numbers after signing day. As of now, they list lsu as losing 11 srs and 1 junior, but actual departures include 2 juniors, plus 2 transfers, plus 1 medical. One of their verbals was caught receiving blow job from freshman on his campus, so will not sign. Another verbal, Quentin Thomas, is gray shirt most likely.

Lsu is actually +3 at moment, but are expecting rasco to commit next week, and are hopeful to get tk Fleming and wishful on Jernigan, which means the number will end up near +6:facepalm: I am guessing there are errors and omissions on several other teams, but I'm unfamiliar with their rosters.

I personally dont get caught up in recruiting stuff that much because the difference in 1-10 IMO is very little, and talent is never what keeps kids off the field it as all the other variables. Having said that I was actually happy as hell we picked up Ray Drew yesterday. He will be a beast Period. He is everything I want in a football player at UGA. An ordained Minister at 18 called the Pastor of Disaster:mj07: Isaih Crowell on the other hand can feel free to go to go to Alabama. If we get him I hope he proves me wrong, but from what my eyes have witnessed he is just another very talented prima donna. Again jmo but oversigning is something that has to be addressed.

WTF is a Gray Shirt player?

It's just like a red shirt except the player can't enroll in the college and take classes unless they pay for it on their own and they can't practice with the team. They don't get the scholarship until the following year. . . unless the school that he attends (if he paid for it) finds better recruits in the next class and then they cut him and if he wants to play football for someone else he has to go to a different school even if it's August of his second year.

It's called a gray shirt because the only schools that do it are from states that wore gray uniforms in the Civil War.

Here's an excellent clip that goes into oversigning and gray shirting

Ky Recruiting

Ky Recruiting

http://www.kentucky.com/2011/01/28/1614174/mark-story-kiffin-kelly-make-visits.html#more

Haven't really read all the posts but here's a story on Kys (state's best prospect). I'd like for us to get him but I doubt it. Here's some more things I read a week or so ago but don't remember all the names and/or details. Elliot Porter, the DL recruit that ended up with the Cats last year via LSU has gotten homesick and will be leaving Kentucky.
We lost a good OL recruit to Notre Dame, that will hurt, it's probably the lineman that keep Ky in the bottom half of the SEC more than anything else. On the other hand we pilfered a running back out of Atlanta that was headed for Purdue. Some of this could have changed by now so if you know anything or can add to this please let me know.
