I read about the gray shirt in a quote from his coach, so I would think he does know about this possibility. Elliot porter was an isolated incident as far as I know.

U can call jealousy, disgust, or whatever else, but I'm guessing this would be less of a concern to you if nd were relevant at this time. Jmho.

It really has nothing to do with Notre Dame lack of success or grace on a football field, it has to do with unilateral commitments taking advantage of the powerless. I'm usually against that and you are, too.

Lastly . . . What does a school have to do to be relevant? Cotton Bowl victories? Third place in a six team division? I just want to know ahead of time, so when they get there, we can table this.

If 2 national titles in 8 years, 4-0 record in bcs bowls, 8-2 bowl record, 10.2 wins per season = relevance, then nd will never be relevant again.

I spoke out about the Elliot porter situation, but I am unaware of miles yanking schollies from unproductive players. Are u aware of this occurring at lsu under miles?

I like watching 56 point blow outs as much as the next guy, but I think the red shirt process is BS. You get 4 years to use and develop a kid. If he isn't ready, let him go to the MAC or WAC or somewhere else. If his talent has too much upside, you keep him and take a chance. Right now, the big programs stockpile for the sake of stockpiling. From LSU fan perspective, all you want is every player under the sun that might have talent.....screw what's best for the kid, just get him signed and we'll figure out what to do with him later.

I like that 30 or so teams contain most of the talent. Spreading out the talent over 120 teams would water down the product in my opinion.

His Mom and Dad went to Kentucky but his brother's at ND and improved greatly during the year. Weis honored everyone who committed to another University and would stop trying to recruiit them unless they called ND. . . . Kelly doesn't seem to have the same hang up.

I can't blame Kelly for that although I'd probably take Weis approach if I were the coach. Actually I didn't even know where the kid was from and I can understand him wanting to go to Notre Dame especially if his brother is there. Notre Dame is on their way back I'm afraid, not that I mind.

Of course you do. Your school is one of the 30 you're talking about. The top talent is still going to the top 30 schools, but the next couple tiers down might make some different choices.

Sure, but I can tell you that parity in college hoops, which I assume can also be attributed to early departures to the NBA, has weakened the sport in my eyes. I simply do not care for ncaa hoops like I did 10+ years ago....

Flawed argument, Jack. It isn't the parity that has hurt college hoops, it is the lack of top talent staying in college.

If Auburn hadn't won a national title, I don't think you would even care. JMO

Don't worry about the haters, Tiger Nation. War Eagle!

Duh, why would anyone care if an irrelevant program worked the gray area? You're slipping, big guy. Hope it's nothing serious.:0008

If you're working the gray areas, you should really win a few more games. JMO

Aub has a 107-45 record the past 12 seasons with a national title and a Heisman winner. 9 wins per season is nothing to sneeze at over that length of time, particularly when you play in the SEC. My guess is Aub's record in that stretch is better than every SEC team outside of Forida and LSU, but that is just a guess.
