England, u.k.
Thanks lads for the info and opinions. I posted earlier my props and all my plays will be posted on my community pages. Three games up with a winner already.

Pawa, I was one of those that said Australia would struggle without Warne and it was I who said over a year ago that India were the dark horses and I got laughed off the thread saying they would do S.F.A. away from the sub continent. 1 from 2 isn't bad, however I did make a sack load of cash from the tournament. Looking for some more this winter. Books beware, the bulldog's ready to bite.

For those to lazy to check out the community pages my two games pending are Fiji to cover the spread over France and New Zealand to run up a cricket score over Italy.

BTW, if the gold and green play like that for the rest of the tournament, there is no doubt they will not win it and perhaps struggle to top their group. All they did was spoil around the ruck and maul, they were presented with good field position through the Puma's inability to kick and throw in from the line out, yet could only muster two dozen points. And as for the ref, even he wore an Aussie top for most parts of the game. Picked up on infringements that weren't even there, and guess what, 90% of the time they were in the Aussie's favour.

Bloody hell for once we might of found a game where we are better than those bear swilling, womanising, barbecue surf boys. Only kidding lads.

New Zealand vs Italy

As promised John Kirwan has selected a very under strength Italian team to face tournament favourites, New Zealand. If this match was not a mismatch beforehand, it certainly is now, with coach John Mitchell selecting a first choice fifteen to face the Azzuri. He is sure to use replacements, but one look at the All Black bench, and the Italians will be crying in their pasta.
Nothing much left to say really, but expect a heavy heavy defeat of the Italians, and marvel at some of the skills of players such as Joe Rokocoko, Doug Howlett and Carlos Spencer to name but a few.

1 Point New Zealand (-58.5) at 91/100 with SportsInteraction

Ireland vs Romania

With the emergence of the lesser nations, Romania are falling behind on the rugby ladder. I really feel layers have overestimated the ability of the Romanians. They were in the UK on a pre World Cup tour, and were hammered everywhere they played. Even a third string Welsh team put fifty points on them, and apart from a few physical forwards, they had absolutely nothing else to offer. Now unless, they have found rugbys version of Adrian Mutu in that time, they face a hammering here, of one of the best teams in the Southern Hemisphere.
Ireland were clear second best in the Six Nations, and have a handful of world class players, that will cause any team problems, never mind the minnows that are Romania. O'Driscoll, Hickie and co will be looking to pile on the points, and are taken to do so.
*** I have read several reports that the Gosford area in Australia have been experiencing severe weather over the last few days. I have checked a few weather sites that say the weather in Gosford will be cloudy. However, if there is heavy rain, or if the pitch is affected by the weather in any way, then I will be buying back this bet. I hope the Aussies in the forum can help out with some weather updates. ;)

2 Points Ireland (-46) at 10/11 with Skybet

That is it from me for Saturdays games. With a bullet to my head, I would have taken France on the spread against Fiji, but will just sit back and watch what should be a entertaining game.

As for the other match, I am having a little side bet on Uruguay (+62) with Bet365. I havent the balls to post it as a play on the forum, as I am stepping into the unknown a little with this, but to small stakes only, it wont hurt.

For any American readers wishing to bet, I would take the following lines :

New Zealand (-58.5) at SportsInteraction or New Zealand (-60.5) at Pinnacle

Ireland (-48.5) at Olympic

Hope that helps :)

:D First one scrapes in + a try for Roff too! Given how much ball Argentina had, I would have been gutted not to have collected. Still, the perfect result really, everyone's a winner

haven't got time for lengthy write-ups, but have played the following on the rest of the weekends games:

3pts Ireland (-46) v Romania, Crooky's beaten me to this one (but I was on first ;) ) - Strictly on my figures I had this one at 40, but the Romanians have been going steadily backwards recently + I expect them to do the say tomorrow. Really think that there will be some real hammerings dished out in this group.

3pts France (-26) v Fiji - this game will prove a good marker for Samoa and Tonga, as there is little between the 3 pacific islanders (Samoa prob. just best). This should be a really open game, with plenty of points scored. Fiji haven't played a top class nation for over 12 months + even Wales beat them by 44.

2pts Uruguay (+62) v S.Africa - the Boks have been misfiring so badly recently, I just have to take the points on offer here. Hope that the South Americans can keep their discipline + keep it tight for as long as possible.

other leans:

1pt Italy (+65) - going off this bet by the second, but I did it as soon as the prices game out, so I better count it
1pt Japan (+46) - can the Scots put 46 on anyone, even the Japanese who are nothing special? I doubt it.

No play in England or Wales games - just cheer on Robinson + Thomas :D

good luck

One early play for Sunday. A day out on the Guinness for me tomorrow, so may not be able to post.

Wales vs Canada

OK time to put this Canada debate to bed. Ice hockey-yes, baseball-yes, drug fuelled olympic sprinters-yes, but top class rugby players-no. A handful of decent players wont be enough to beat Wales I am afraid. The golden era of Canadian rugby has long passed, in the days of Gareth Rees and big upsets. A lot of that team remain, but that says a lot about the players that are coming through, when so many veterans, and even a skipper approaching his forties, who has just had a complete reconstruction of his knee takes the field.
The Welsh are under big pressure to perform. To get to the final eight is a must, or Steve Hansen will be back to have a few beers with Anders. These three games are the biggest a Welsh team will play in a long while. It would be catastrophic to fail, but Canada are not on the top of our worries. Team selection is positive, I think we will look to run the ball. Canada will be competitive for maybe 20-30 minutes, but class will tell. Wales by 25+ ;)

going against Canada.......................well we all know I know way more about Rugby then you do.......so that Canada +22.5 that I spoke of earlier is as good as gold :D

ok......so I'm talking out of my ass........but never underestimate a team with a bunch of Canadian grit........even though we are not a rugby power, we got grit.....and grit can get ya the win......

Hoss,

Thanks for the heads up....actually managed to miss that line with PaddyPower...didnt have them on my notes

Kick,

You are actually spot on in what you say. We have a handful of Canadian players playing their rugby here in Wales, and most are known for their effort levels, and passion for the game.
They may surpass Wales on that level on Sunday, but when it comes down to ability, you cannot compete. You have to consider that Wales are probably three tries better than Canada, and that is all the firms are asking Wales to concede. Good enough for me.

Weather report from Gosford is that the worse wether passed through during the week. The ground is rarely used up there so there should be no excuses if the pitch is in a bad way

Thanks again Pumpkin....great site. Even have a link to show full weather reports for all the rugby venues...may turn out to be crucial in some games, backing the underdog with a big start in the rain. Straight in the favourites list this one..;)

Hard one here.

Orginally like Canada at the plus but I think the Welsh may just have enough firepower to hold them at bay. If Canada can keep the ball from the Welsh they should cover, but have no confidence.
