That's where we disagree. Complicity is always the answer if you are seeking the lowest possibility of detainment, incarceration, injury or death.

Doesn't mean the cop is right, but had she put out the stogie, she wouldn't have been arrested.

So, while this cop was totally out of line, complicity with his outrageous demands would have been the wiser choice.

Exactly.....Was the Cop out of line, yes .....should he lose his job because of it I could go either way with depending on his history.....the fact remains if an officer asks/tells you to do something the officer is not going to back down PERIOD.....if you feel your being wronged request for a Supervisor, turn on your camera and film, file a complaint.....you're not going to win by arguing/challenging the officer right/wrong or indifferent.....:0008

COMMON LIFE SENSE dictates that there is rarely a good reason to get into a pissing match with a Law Enforcement Officer; especially in Sandra Blands case.
Her track record indicates she was seriously troubled and apparently civically, was FAR from an angel.
Sadly, she had a bad outcome.

I think he should lose his job, that was bad. at the same time to be wishy-washy if you had a camera on law enforcement 24/7 we wouldn't have any left, they all be fired

Some interesting points raised in this video.

Peace! :)

Now we want cops fired because the nitwit they arrested committed suicide?

What I don't understand, is this thinking that so many of you have that would have the interactions be like this:

"May I see your driver's license, please"?

"No! Fuck off, pig!"

"Ok, have a nice day."

They want the police to be robots. They aren't they are people and can get pissed off and make mistakes especially when you take pride in trying to piss them off like this lady took pride in doing.

Best to just take your medicine and go about your business

Besides its been proven she killed herself so why is this even still a story??
Maybe she did it cause nobody in her family or friends gave a shit enough to bail her out????

How the hell cam you say she took pride in pissing him off when he is clearly the instigator and the one taking pride in his abuse of power?

I swear to God dude, you've really got to at least attempt to look at these situations neutrally. You always take the cop's side. How do you allow for the cop's to "be human and make mistakes", yet make zero allowances for citizens protecting themselves from having their rights violated?

I just don't get it.

So you're okay with his actions leading to an unlawful arrest resulting in a woman's death, directly or indirectly, but you're on the fence on whether or not the ONLY PERSON THAT BROKE THE LAW AT ANY TIME, should be fired from his job of UPHOLDING THE LAW?

She's dead because of him and you're on the fence about his job?

I believe I said he was out of line...... I'm a pretty sure I read she had outstanding Warrants, so that "could" be the reason he was trying to get her out of the car, time will tell......Still don't get why she wasn't out on bail, oh yeah she had outstanding Warrants....:0008

Really, she had outstanding warrants? In Texas? Where she had just arrived to start a new job only days before? What infractions go to warrant only days after the incident? Where did you see that she had warrants and can you direct me to where it says anything of the sort? I've looked for a story stating that she had warrants in Texas but I'll be damned if I can find one

Out of line is what you call an inappropriate comment, or calling someone a particularly hurtful name. Abusing the authority granted you as a public servant to manhandle, wrongfully arrest, and fabricate an assault charge is far more than out of line.

Did you know that specific county lockup has had four suicides since 2010 and the last one in 2012 was also arrested for assault on a police officer? Did you know that the sheriff of Waller county, where she was being held, was fired from his previous job in 2008 along with four of his officers for racial discrimination and racial improprieties? Did you know Sandra Bland had only arrived in Texas two days prior?

You sure you still think he should maybe keep his job?

Her friends were going to bail her out Monday but unfortunately she was found dead, just like the last person found hanging in their cell after being arrested for the same "crime".

Never said what state the Warrants were in as I don't know was relaying what I had read......I do know that it is typical to run the plates to get an idea what you may be running into on a stop.....Yes he was out of line as for what happened in the Jail I have no idea.....If she wasn't being detained for the Warrants and just a traffic violation, then yes it's bullshit....:0008

remember...SHE didn`t know whether he was asking her to get out of the car because there was a bench warrant issued on her(which there easily could have been...she had no way of knowing)..and if there was,the cop certainly wasn`t going to tell her that before getting her out of the car.....he actually didn`t have to have a reason to ask her to get out of the car..it was a legal request......that`s where she went wrong....did it all go south from there?...obviously...

I haven`t gone back and read this entire clusterfuck of a thread so if this has been addressed my apologies....I`d still like some crack reporter to ask the family why they couldn`t come up with $500 to bail her out...if she was so troubled(as her family has indicated and her police record verifies) why didn`t they move heaven and earth(like you or I would have) to get her the $500 and get her out of the hoosegow as quickly as possible?....I don`t know the answer to that..i can`t imagine leaving a family member sitting in jail if I had the wherewithal to get them the hell out......they seem much quicker to hire an attorney than to get their loved one bailed out of jail.....I heard one of her sisters on the news and she was extremely well-spoken......maybe being a little quicker with the bail may have saved her life?....I think its a fair question...

is it possible that ms bland was in constant trouble with the law and the family just wasn`t willing to help her?....if that`s so,i think it`s relevant to the tragic result...it may not be a p.c. question, but, somebody should ask whether the family had $500 to bail their mentally ill loved one out of jail...

the cop will be hung, that`s a given.....maybe theres a good reason why the family left her in jail for 3 days...maybe the bail couldn`t be posted from out of state for some reason(you`d think they could contact a bailbondsman in the state, which she did,and have it handled).I can`t find the answer to these questions....have they been asked?.....

I think those questions need to be asked....

It was only the traffic stop and her being charged with assaulting an officer that had her in jail, nothing on warrants. As a matter of fact it was reported today that senior state officials have made the statement that the officer violated her rights and wrongfully arrested her. He ordered her out of the car 11 times before he told her she was under arrest.

No offense, but this thread isn't a clusterfuck imo. For the most part, it is a solid conversation with both sides supporting their positions in an adult manner. :0008

Well said Wease....

Sandra may have been SO much of a basket-case/nutjob, her own family huddled up and said....

"Ya know, 3 days in a Texas hoosegow might be just the right wake-up-call to help get her head on straight."

I think many of us here have had a family member/relative/good friend, that at one time or another drove us to the point of throwing our hands up in the air.

As a matter of fact, it may have been the fact the family WOULD not raise $500.00 for the bail that pushed her over the edge and prompted the suicide.

I still think the stop was BS, the detainment and arrest BS, and the suicide BS.

Had this officer performed his duties correctly, this would not be an issue. Somebody in jail probably "helped" her with the suicide too. Time will tell.
